Ding! Match One. UPDATED

December 06, 2021 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

Okay, the US Department of Justice has entered the fight over redistricting in Texas.

The U.S. Department of Justice is throwing its weight into the legal fight over Texas’ newly drawn maps for Congress and the state House, filing a lawsuit Monday that claims Texas lawmakers discriminated against voters of color by denying Latino and Black voters equal opportunities to participate in the voting process and elect their preferred candidates.

That makes it less likely that we will have a March primary while this thing winds its way through the courts.

If they uphold it, and Texas flips, which it eventually will, payback is gonna be hell.

Sorry, I’ve got to rush off – I’ll have more tomorrow.

UPDATE:  There’s really not much to add.  We’ll just keep our eye on it and see if it will be fought seriously.

  1. Gerrymandering should never have been legal.

T**** and T**** are the same crooks. T***p and T***s.

  2. And…Yeah! CA Nunes is retiring. I think to go work with you know who.

We can only hope President Biden launched a team of VP Harris, Senator Duckworth and Congresswoman Demings to plant their most “inspirational” spiked heels into AG Garland’s cold feet.

  4. I must say that a big grin spread over my face when I saw today. What else can one say? Unless, of course, it winds it way to the Supremes. Then, all bets are off.

BarbinDC @4, not to raise this optimistic sign beyond reasonable expectations. But … if DOJ is getting off the stick, could this also be a warning shot at the lying crooks at SCROTUS from the Biden Administration? While it would be too good to be true to expect Roberts, Thomas, Kavanaugh and Barrett to face Congressional impeachment or DOJ charges, President Biden does have the option to expand SCROTUS to neutralize those conservative lying crooks.

Lord, I hope to live long enough to see Texas flip — even turning purple would be cause for celebration.

  7. While eliminating the unfairness of Repug gerrymandering is
absolutely important, the fixing of elections which is going on
will defeat the democratic vote. Just heard the author of
“ January 6th Was Just Practice” on Rachel Maddow outline the
plans of Trumpians to throw out legitimate votes, have R controlled states switch electors and do everything they can to
ensure a Trump victory. Question is, how to stop them.

Jane & PKM … you say ” President Biden does have the option to expand SCROTUS to neutralize those conservative lying crooks.”

Size of the Supreme Court is a matter of legislation … which brings us back to the delights of getting passage in the House, agreement to end debate by 60 Senators, a majority in favor of passage in the Senate, and a signature from the President.

Right now, I’m not certain ANY of those 4 would happen, and I’d bet serious money that there will not be a 60 majority to end debate on expansion of the Court.
