Devin Nunes
Oh, guys, this is a damn hoot
Congressduffus Devin Nunes is resigning from Congress to become chief executive of former President Donald Trump’s fledgling social media company next month.
Hell, like he wasn’t working for Trump the past five years.
But here’s what I don’t understand: what on God’s green earth makes Nunes think that Trump is ever going to pay him? Trump doesn’t pay anybody. The only reason he owns his own restaurants is because he’s been banned from all the rest for walking his tab.
Nunes running a social media company with the same intellectual capacity of Sponge Bob Squarepants?
Although Trump claims to have a billion dollars to open his competition to Twitter, it has not started well.
Truth Social had an inauspicious debut when hackers quickly manipulated the site, created a fake Donald Trump account, and posted images of defecating pigs.
It ran into another snag when the developer of the open-source software being used for Truth Social warned the operation last month that it was violating the software license.
He’s missed deadlines, has violated software license, and keeps promising a health care plan next month.
Ya know, it could be that Nunes is the only person on the planet willing to take this job.
Oh, this is soooo popcorn-worthy!
1Seems like a perfect fit for two liars.
And to get things going right off the bat:
Trump’s new media company being investigated by SEC — surprising no one-

2Remember when Devin tried to sue an imaginary cow?
3If going to work for Donald Trump gets him out of Congress, it’s all to the good–except for him. He seems to be giving up the possibility of a ton of political power for, well, nothing. I’m OK with that.
4His wife is a teacher, hopefully she will be able to keep up with the mortgage payments on their nice home in a gated community
5Frump’s wanna-be twitter started as a Mastodon (https://joinmastodon.org/) instance, and as JJ noted it immediately violated the open source licence requirements. Basically, you can copy and use Mastodon for free, but must also make your modifications available as free and open software. You also must include a copy of the license (AGPL version 3) with the code.
Those requirements are not exactly onerous – just keep a file with your instance, and let anyone download a copy of any changes you make. But whoever is grifting Frump apparently did not want to admit they had not written the code – they probably have charged him lots of money for clicking a link to download Mastodon from Github, while pretending they developed it themselves.
However, they recently backed off and now are providing a compressed file with the original Mastodon cde, and a copy of the AGPLv3 intact. As JJ notes is inevitable, Frumpy will refuse to pay them. At that point they probably will have scads of data from all the nutcases who signed up, plus access to all the sooper sekrit messages the idiots thought were never going to be read by their moms, their employers, Alfredo at the Dairy Queen, or the FBI.
Every computer science student in the area of security is already cackling and rubbing their hands together in anticipation.
6The Surly Professor @6, You and the others have nailed it. It’s going to be fantastic to watch this lumbering Trumptanic hit those icebergs and head to the bottom.
— I worked my first software hacks starting around 1971/72, just pranks on co-workers [only]. But done on some of the most secure national systems there were; if done today, Gitmo forever bayybee…
“Frumpy will refuse to pay them. [Nunes’ fate too, he knows that, but is drooling over a huge grifting opportunity for himself, and figures he can out-con the biggest con artist in history; this is going to be a hoot]
At that point they probably will have scads of data from all the nutcases who signed up, plus access to all the sooper sekrit messages the idiots thought were never going to be read by their moms, their employers, Alfredo at the Dairy Queen, or the FBI.
[a real shitmine…errm..goldmine..it will be soooo much fun]
Every computer science student in the area of security is already cackling and rubbing their hands together in anticipation.”
7[– Epic beyond our wildest dreams…]
Has Devin Nunes’ Cow signed up yet?
I only hope that DJT will use the subscriber information as a base for his 3rd party run for President.
8“The smart way to keep people passive and obedient is to strictly limit the spectrum of acceptable opinion, but allow very lively debate within that spectrum — even encourage the more critical and dissident views. That gives people the sense that there’s free thinking going on, while all the time the presuppositions of the system are being reinforced by the limits put on the range of the debate.” -Noam Chomsky, linguistics professor and political activist (b. 7 Dec 1928)
9Unless the SEC forces him to identify his shareholders, the uber scam is for other kleptocrats to buy favor through stock purchases. Nunes’ role will begin as rainmaker and undoubtedly end as main goat when it all unravels. The only question is whether he has enough sense to roll before everyone else does
10C’mon now. Everybody is casting aspersions on Trump’s ability to run this web thingie, even with the support of the brilliant Nunes. But it can be done. All you have to do is look at the tremendous success of Sarah Palin’s news channel. If Palin can do it, it should be a snap for Trump.
Think about how efficiently he built the wall, and how he even got Mexico to pay for it. Think about his super duper health care plan, which is so much better than the Affordable Care Act. How could you doubt him?
11Nunes is my rep and this explains why he’s been off the grid this year. I’m not sure why anybody would think he is qualified to run a tech company. He’s been in politics since college and has never had a job. He says he’s a dairy farmer but that would be his parent’s farm and they moved to Iowa years ago. His uncle still farms here but Devin has nothing to do with it. He did buy a $17K lot and registered it as a farm. Around here that will buy you a garden.
What is not being reported much is that the California Citizens Redistricting Commission redrew his district and it now leans slightly Democratic. No more free ride at the polls. So now he’s the CEO of a DOA venture. Couldn’t happen to a nicer guy.
12Hope he realises he won’t be paid . Sadz .
13In lieu of salary trump is probably giving him shares in this worthless venture, assuming it actually gets off the ground. Real smart, Dev.
You don’t suppose he’s agreed to invest his own money…no, nobody’s that dumb.
