Word is coming in that Joe Biden will not be coming to the spin room after the debate. Maybe it’s not a huge issue, but every candidate attended last night, and all tonight’s crew are expected to make an appearance.

A note on the spin room: it’s a slightly obnoxious name for an area in the press filing area, which is across from where the debates take place. After the candidates get off stage they come and stand in the spin room and are mobbed by journalists. (Some more than others – late last night I saw Jay Inslee essentially wandering about on his own.)

  2. Jane & PKM says:

As Senator Harris noted, tonight has been allowed by the NBC crew to descend into a food fight. She was politer and said something (paraphrasing) to the effect “Americans do not want to hear a food fight, they want to hear how we’ll put food on their tables.”

Let’s hope the second hour is better tonight. It was last night.

  3. Jane & PKM says:

Sen. Gillibrand is confirming my fear about her physical voice being able to withstand a national campaign. Had the same fear about Sen. Sherrod Brown, who is not running.

Withdraw after tonight: Michael Bennet, John Hickenlooper, Marianne Williamson, and Andrew Yang.

  4. Grandma Ada says:

Biden did his usual “Barack and I” routine and stumbled over facts and figures. Harris has her usual good tree top answers but details not as forthcoming. Bernie kept to his talking points. Not seeing a Castro moment like last night.

  5. Jane & PKM says:

Did a quick cruise of some of the on-line polls. The bots are out for Andrew Yang tonight. It was Tulsi Gabbard last night. The only thing they have somewhat in common is a strange Libertarian cast. Or, simply the bots are simply out to create confusion and promote chaos.

  6. Barbara Allen says:

Kamala Harris came through as most articulate and took on Trump and Biden.
Biden looked confused in the 2nd hour; couldn’t hold the tide of the next generation.
Why is Marianne Williams up there anyway?
Lose Yang, Bennet, Swalwell, Williamson, Hickenlooper, Beto,
Tulsi Gabbard, DeBlasio, Tim Ryan, Inslee, Moulton…
Let Bullock in for the next debate.

  7. These 2 debates reinforced my preference for a Warren/Harris ticket.

  8. AK Lynne says:

My big five are Harris, Warren, Buttegieg, Castro and Booker.

  9. Sandy D says:

It’s a long way to November 2020 but my current list is Harris, Warren, Castro and Buttegieg.

  10. Great night for Kamala!

  11. Marcia in CO says:

Harris/Buttegieg … would love to see that combo!
Biden looked like he couldn’t hear a lot of the questions and only reacted after looking to see what the rest of the folks had done! I.e.: raising his hand … and then being questioned if he had actually raised his hand.
I think he made a very poor showing!
Williamson and Yang … good grief! Too many need not carry on!

  12. Linda Phipps says:

The run of the mill republican voter will be scared stiff about Harris. Even more than of Clinton.

    12
  13. AK Lynne says:

My dream team would be Harris/Buttegieg.

    13
  14. Harris, Warren, Buttigieg, Booker.
