Dan Patrick and HIS Damn Taxes
Even though Texas has about the same property tax rate as other states, our Lt. Governor Dan Patrick starts almost every speech yelling that our property taxes are too damn high. Except he doesn’t say damn. He loves Jesus and according to Dan Patrick, Jesus is highly opposed to damn.
Now it’s odd how if you listen to Republicans you will discover loads of hypocrisy. Honey, if hypocrisy was dirt, Trump could use Texas Republican officeholders to poop a wall on the border about 30 feet high.
The Houston Chronicle and the Fort Worth Star Telegram discovered something odd about Dan’s property taxes. While almost everybody in his neighborhood and the whole state of Texas had their property evaluations go up, Dan’s went down. That means he paid less taxes.
Since they purchased it in April 2017, the 4,300 square-foot house Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick and his wife own on Lake Conroe in Montgomery County has dropped in market value from nearly $968,000 to $921,000 in 2018. The result is that the tax bill on the Benthaven Isle home has decreased from $19,429 to $16,736 — a 14-percent drop.
From 2017 to 2018, market values went up for 88 percent of homeowners in the county.
His taxes are too damn low.
Maybe my taxes are higher so that Dan’s taxes can be lower.
It looks fishy to me.
Maybe the house dropped in value because Dan Patrick is living there. But you’d think his neighbors’ property values would have dropped too.
1I agree Rhea.
It’s just as if the house had a meth lab in the basement, or a ghastly crime or crime against humanity took place in the house (Dan Patrick elected Lt. Gov).
Depreciation.
2Sound’s like a corruption case in the making. Of course, in Texas, that just seems to make the lizards more popular.
3It looks fishy to you because it is fishy. The Montgomery County Chief Appraiser gave the Lt. Gov. a big fat gift, which is of course, against the law. Find out who the Chief Appraiser is and go from there.
4It’s a moral problem.
5It’s just immoral when Dan Patrick has to pay taxes for the public services he (waterfront property) receives.
Immoral
Just ask Dan Patrick.
what George in Lee County said. that’s a quick & dirty corruption case right there. contact the FBI, because you sure as hell can’t trust anyone in TX.
6Do any web-based realtors cover that locale? It’d be interesting to see whether Redfin shows that property dropping in value.
