CPAC CRAP: Oh Y’all Edition
Y’all, they let Rick Perry speak at CPAC.
A fired-up Gov. Rick Perry, who’s considering another presidential bid, kicked off Friday morning with a rousing speech, declaring “It’s time for a little rebellion on the battlefield of ideas.”
That sounds real nice, but on the battlefield of ideas, Rick Perry doesn’t have any ammo.
Thanks to Old Mayfly for the heads up and John for the cool graphic.
No Ammo?!? He’s got three ideas; two bad, and one he can’t remember.
1Yup … just saw [p]Rick Perry do his best impression of a high school cheerleader on the Chris Jansing show … oh, he was all fired up and revving up the audience!
2What a sideshow this CPAC crap is … they all think in their little pea-sized brains that they are definitely gonna be the next president of this United States of America!!
Holy Gohmerts! They all stepped out of the Clown Car with ill-disguised thieving, lying and otherwise empty ‘ideas.’ Never has the word ‘idea’ been heard so often with an actual idea being presented. It was a festival of pRicks trying to out d!ck each other. My vote for the Gohmert Award goes to Paul Ryan and his hostility to hungry children speech.
What’s on for tomorrow? Kick granny?
3My favorite story about CPAC is that they banned atheist Republicans from being able to prove that they are as horribly out of touch regarding the problems of real Americans as the hypocritical Christian Republicans are.
4OK…….who’s the moron that loaned the ” Turd el” a Gun to slither on stage with. Too bad it wasn’t loaded or we could have had a doozie fun with guns – CRAP edition!
5I’ve heard the Texas phrase about a guy who’s all hat and no cattle. Perry doesn’t even have a hat.
6I just want to know what new drug he’s gotten his hands on.
7That’s just like a chicken hawk, declaring war for someone else to fight.
8The only Texas Miracle I see is the sad fact Perry and Abbott haven’t gone to jail for corruption.
9Timeless words from the Texas Impresario of Ignorance: “Get out of the education business!” This after his immediate predecessor as governor wanted “No Child Left Behind.”
10I heard somewhere that they will vote Putin as the choice for 2016 at this CPAC
11And yes before I forget, my impression of Perry is that because he was either drinking or on drugs last time we had the pleasure of seeing him, he decided this year to take some
uppers and as usual overdid it!
Did you see the look on his face, it looked like the cat that had just eaten the canary!
12Speaking as a Republican with more than three operational brain cells (which is four more than most of the GOP folks), I continue to be amazed at the sheer amount of stupid! the GOP manages to generate. Be it Gov. Goodhair (who obviously practiced his speech a few times this go around so that he wouldn’t forget the three things he needed to mention…) or the two congenital idiots running for Lt. Governor (and may Leticia Van de Putte trounce whoever is left standing), the Republicans just can’t seem to stop demonstrating how truly stupid! they really are.
13In case you haven’t seen it, they took a picture of the CPAC meeting from the back, hardly any people there.
14On the battlefield of ideas, Rick Perry is MIA.
15Here’s the link to the complete speech by Rick Perry:

I’m not a conservative and for sure I’m not a Perry fan, but he really did a good job of channeling Jennifer Granholm’s legendary DNC2012 speech here.
16The more I read about what’s been going on at CPAC, the more I think of the drooling loonie who’s sitting in the tree, sawing off the branch that’s holding him up. The more fellow rightwing nutjobs the CPAC people round up to support them, the more they alienate reasonable Americans in the middle. Beyond Perry, that other irrepressible Texan, Carnival Cruise, just dissed fellow Republican Bob Dole for not being conservative enough. It drew this reaction:
http://www.nbcnews.com/storyline/cpac/mccain-dole-scorch-cruz-cpac-comments-n47126
Lorraine in Spring observed on another thread that Cruz apparently hates being compared to Joe McCarthy. But if there’s a Tail Gunner Ted, he shows it here. A guy who never served his country in the military nevertheless feels he has the right to belittle a man who damn near lost his life in battle. Carnival Cruz? Call him Tail Gunner Ted – or Cruz the Coward.
17My relative from Round Top said that Perry is building the mansion there because his two best friends (from their days at A&M) have large second homes on the same road. The skinny there is that Perry wants to be a member of the cabinet when whichever GOP idiot is elected president.
18More convinced than ever that Ricky is bipolar!
19Of course, Mr. Perry will need a marching song. Perhaps something like:
Over hill, over dale, we will try to find a trail
20And the Stupid, keeps rolling, along…
I am just glad this bozo will NEVER be our governor again, and his chances of being president are about as good as me, a 52 year-old Gay Latino man marrying Mr. George Clooney!! 😉
21Bear in mind that the people who stand up and applaud and stomp their feet and hang on every word Perry utters are the same people who voted him back into office for a twelve year stint as governor. They’re not imaginative, they are stuck in a tea party rut, they fervently believe that they are the people who are the salt of the earth, moral, religious, God-fearing people and that their candidates can do no wrong. Call them wingnuts, nut jobs, stupid, loonies, whatever you wish. They have outvoted the rest of us in nearly every election including this primary. We talk a good fight but we’re being whipped.
22The battlefield of ideas involves conservatives shooting themselves in the foot, thinking all their pain comes from somewhere else, and blaming librulz for their own lack of aim. Liberals fire shots at conservatives, but they mostly go right over their heads. Moderates wish both sides would hurry up and end the lunacy so the moderates can get about the business of trying to run the country seriously.
23You bet he channeled Jenny Granholm! The guy can’t do anything else but ride on the back of someone else’s good work!
24And tonight, in the grande finale we will have the pleasure
25of seeing Sarah Palin, failed governor and failed VP candidate.
I guess she will be announcing Putin as the republican candidate
for president, and she would like to be the one to rub oil on his chest, and who knows she might join him to fight some bears.
(which he never did)
@maggie said: “You bet he channeled Jenny Granholm! The guy can’t do anything else but ride on the back of someone else’s good work!”
There’s that, of course. But it’s also interesting to me how closely the right wing copies us Dems. They insult us viciously at every turn, but they copy us because they are just so damn dull and unimaginative. I watched both 2012 conventions, and the Pub speakers were all asleep onstage, like zombies. And I won’t even go into Clint Eastwood rambling incoherently to a chair. Our Dems were ON FIRE — every single speech was worth listening to and well-presented. And then of course Granholm’s introduction of the President blew the roof off the joint and deservedly became a legend. Now, Rick Perry has copied her, right down to the arm gestures. I commend him for his ability to mimic someone else. That is a talent, and I recognize it. But most of all, it really does make me smile that the Pubs are not-so-secretly envious of our Democratic talent for speech making, among other things (like getting out the vote and electing a Dem Prez twice in a row …).
I tweeted the link of Perry’s speech to Granholm to make sure she sees it. I know she’ll get a kick out of it! 🙂
26I surely hope Jen Granholm runs for higher office. There are several women younger than the Hillary-Pelosi-Boxer group who need to get in the ring with the H-P-B group and sweep Congress.
27Sam in Kyle, it just soaked into my brain. Our wonderful next door neighbors just moved to Kyle. Find ’em. Chip and Christine Kent. They are both tall and blonde and have two little boys. They’re Dems.
28And yes, Ellen Childress, the reason they’re winning elections is they pour money into lots of universities with stipulations that the U’s have to let them pick professors and curriculum and let them form a student organization. They get laws passed that make folks feel like something good is happening, like getting rid of them nasty regulations and nobody notices that the headlines in papers influence the direction things are moving. They are masters at campaigning without ever using the words politics or candidates. Lots of them ARE good folks and would be shocked to find out that the “home-rule” bunch is taking over the Dallas ISD and the home rule bunch is campaigning for Dan Patrick and the super duper rich are putting money and Tea Party candidates into both parties. I’m going to go get dressed and go buy a new cell phone. Maybe I need to wear walking shoes too.
Now. Having put a downer on everyone, I want us to try to promote good stuff like energy efficiency and conservation, and renewable energy, all of which will make a lot of jobs and marketable products and help keep the air and water clean. Heck, those things don’t even USE water, the good ones. THEN you find candidates that will support those good things.
29Oh, I forgot. I’m going to go buy a new cell phone.
Third and last for now: My friend Sally who won an election two years ago started campaigning three years before the election. She and her husband systematically block walked her whole precinct every evening pretty much. Shortly after she won, she started campaigning again for the next cycle. Yes, I need to put on walking shoes–not running for office but just think of the weight I could lose while door knocking.
30Marge Wood… the Energizer Bunny of Travis County. You go girl~! xxx Patti
31@Eykis #27 I’ve been a Granholm fan for a long time and I am privileged to exchange tweets with her frequently. I had read last year that she said she has no intention to run for office again. I asked her on Twitter to confirm that, and she did. So, she won’t run for office again, but she would probably accept an appointment in the next admin, assuming we have a Dem prez again in ’16. Granholm won’t be in elected office again, but she’s a powerful lady with a lot to say, so we haven’t heard the last of our Jen!
32Remember, beauty salon patrons, November is only a few months away. Make sure everyone REGISTERS and VOTES, even if you have to help them register, even if you have to give them a ride (or even a loan) to get official photo ID in those states that demand it. GOTV!!
