Couldn’t Help But Noticing

The Washington Post ran this headline …

Those words after the comma, shouldn’t they be “according to people who have a lick of damn sense.”

He may get some sort of deal for not jacking around with another expensive trial, which the government doesn’t want either because it’s grueling and also expensive.  It could be a guilty plea in exchange for not retrying the ten cases that ended in a mistrial.  It could be that the government will let him keep enough money to support his family after he goes to prison.

It does not necessarily mean that he’ll flip on Trump.

But, it could.  And that’s why I get up every damn day.  Just to see who is gonna rat out.

  1. Inasmuch as he originally sold his soul to the devil, there is no real reason why he shouldn’t flip even more and then some on anything Trump. There is no line that these grifters will not cross, and I honestly recommend that somebody with clout check his mother’s teeth for any hijacked gold. The impacted teeth should have obvious hollows where the fillings once lay.

  2. If Muellur allows this piece of human waste to keep even one cent that legally could could be seized would be a miscarriage of Justice.
I would recommend that Muellur start using RICO charges against Manaford and his family.
The deal should be that you sing on demented donnie forfeit every penny, every piece of property, every trust fund, every retirement fund, all jewelry, cars etc. and we won’t put your wife and children in a super Max for being part of, and knowingly beneficiary’s of, criminal family/activities.
Anything else and we are prosecuting your entire family.
    No sympathy. No mercy.
Considering how the wife must have sold out any principles, except for greed, that kept her with him and the totally lack of any ethics or morality the children must have learned that would be generous.
They would just follow the well worn criminal path laid out by their father. Just another political span seeking to feather their own nests at any cost just like manchin’s daughter scamming asthma suffers for every last penny and then some.
That and we will put you in a government operated prison and not a privatized hell hole with maggots as your prime protien source.
Use every piece of leverage that has even a taint of legallity to absolutely crush him as a deterrent to any of the others who might play games counting on “soft hearted” humanist’s to save them from being held to account

  3. Pauly has to make a calculated decision as to where he would be safer: in Supermax or on the outside? If he flips, the Russian mob will surely take note, and at some point he will expect to have a nice dose of polonium in his vitamin supplements.

Manafort probably still has in mind that Trump will forgive all sins (i.e., pardon all convictions) provided he does not roll over on his master. But K’s recommended scourging suggests the question: if part of the sentence is restitution and or large IRS penalties and fines, does a presidential pardon also release him from those? Any lawyer types here know?

Also, I recall that Ford pardoned Nixon for basically any crimes committed during his presidency, even ones he had not been indicted for or convicted of. But that was back in the day, so I’m not sure if that was the legal formulation. If it was, I can see the fire sale of Donny Indulgences going on the last week he’s in office.

[And to K: I thought I was vindictive! Maybe you and I are related through some incorrigible ancestor. Anyway, I want to see Manafort reduced to buying clothes at the Dollar Tree, even if he manages to avoid prison time via a pardon.]

  5. @The Surly Professor
Not vindictive just tired of seeing this scum benefiting from common decency when they never afford that to anyone else.
Did the thugs show decency when they pushed to have someone mistaken on voting priviledges into prison for 5 years while forgiving thuglican crooks a pass on purposeful voter fraud.
Were they showing any decency on the Segielman case in Alabama or where they brought fabricated criminal charges against D woman who had been ranked as one of the best teachers?
Were they showing common decency in their smear campaigns against the people that the cops murdered?
The list goes on and on.
My position is that as long as they avoid paying for their transgressions they will continue to transgress.
    Why not?
They win either way. Time for them to face the penalties that they have written and supported into law.
My position is the more powerful and wealthier the greater the punishment should be.
If the thugs support a bail and fine system, such as missouri has, that bankrupts and imprisons people for parking tickets etc. why should they not be bankrupted and imprisoned for fraud, election violations, espionage etc.
A good example of how they game the system is when Chelsea manning released video of US forces committing murder she was sent to jail.
When betrayous was caught giving away secrets to his mistress for profit ( greater potential book sales) and a little bit on the side he didn’t even get a slap on the wrist.
See thuglicans can get away with espionage but any one else goes to jail.
    Turnabout is fair play.

  6. I agree with your logic K, and I’ve got your back. Keep going.

  7. Manafort’s knows no choices.

If he implicates the President, no pardon awaits him from the President and he may get the polonium Frappuccino anyway.

If he implicates the President AND their Russian owners, no pardon and the polonium Frappuccino is guaranteed.

If he doesn’t implicate the President but does implicate their Russian owners, there may still be no pardon but their will be a polonium Frappuccino

If he implicates neither, the pardon may eventually come but the polonium Frappuccino will always be there.

    I wouldn’t I give Manafort’s problems to a monkey on a rock.

  8. And lately there’s Putin claiming that the 2 suspects the Brits have in custody for poisoning are two innocent civilians, not KBG or whatever they call themselves now.

    Yeah, right!!!!!!
