Corny Cornyn

Texas’ other senator, John Cornyn, is not as crazy as Ted Cruz, but he’s just as mean.

Cornyn has pledged that the senate will react to President Obama’s nomination to the Supreme Court by beating them like a piñata.

The No. 2 Senate Republican warned Monday that potential nominees to the Supreme Court should consider the battle they will be forced to endure if they are picked for the post, suggesting a high-stakes slugfest could damage their reputations in a fruitless pursuit of the top court.

“I think they will bear some resemblance to a piñata,” said Sen. John Cornyn of Texas.

Good to know that, John.  We’ll nominate your mother.

Let me remind John that you’re blindfolded when you hit the piñata, and that it takes a bunch of people looking like fools before that sucker gets hit.

Bring it on, John.  Bring it on.

Thanks to Mary for the heads up.

An old rancher is talking about Senator Cornyn with a young man from the city. He compared Sen. Cornyn to a “post turtle”. The young man doesn’t understand and asks him what a post turtle is.

The old man says, “When you’re driving down a country road and you see a fence post with a turtle balanced on top, that’s a post turtle. You know he didn’t get up there by himself. He doesn’t belong there; he can’t get anything done while he’s up there; and you just want to help the poor, dumb thing down.”

That sure sounds like old John is threatening potential nominees. Time to ‘retire’ him out of his seat with a pitch fork.

  3. Fred, totally cool contribution to the conversation! Why is it that the vast majority of the majority Senators are behaving and sounding way less than Senatorial? Are they bored? Or mellowing out on something! Hmmm.

  4. Whatever it is they’re on, it’s not mellowing them.

Keep a weather eye out, Juanita Jean. Looks like it might get a bit damp and blustery out your way.

Oh, poor old boring John is just channeling his inner Ben Carson: “hey? HEY! Look at ME!! Can someone attack ME for a change so I can get some attention here too? I’m special too! HEY! Over HERE!”

Aggieland Liz, I think you are onto something. Cornyn must not have been invited to many birthday parties, hence the pinata fixation

And he used to be such a nice man.

Cornyn better not forget the separation between the three branches of government. It’s justice that’s supposed to be blind. The legislature is supposed to confirm Supreme Court justices, not swing wildly and blindly at them.

Once again, the snacilbupeR in the Senate are forming a circular firing squad. The public at large isn’t happy with the idea that the Constitution can be put on hold at the whim of one party. If they trash a perfectly qualified American and run him or her through a spanking line, they will not likely get away with it for long.

The Senate is very likely to return to a Democratic majority after the election. This would just make the odds more favorable.

    Suck on THAT, Big John!

  11. Two young men heard there were no bungee jump parks in Mexico and decided that would be a wonderful place for a start up. They built the tower, advertised and we’re ready for opening day. Several people gathered around, but no paying customers. One said, “I’ll demonstrate. ” He jumped and bounced back up with a couple of scratches. Second time up, he had more bumps and bruises. Third time ever he was covered all over with shapes and a black eye. His partner said “What happened?” He replied, “I don’t know, but what in the world is a pinata? “

Back in the day, a dear friend was a amateur boxer. He told me that in boxing, it is very important to “keep your cool.”

Hot-heads almost always lose. We sure have seen that theory played out with the Republican crazies vs. the President.

t’s the Trump Effect; normally well behaved politicians become raging nut bags when over exposed to it.

  15. Cornyn is an idiot and I hope the voters of Texas remember this when it comes time for his re-election. He is gonna wish he had approved President Obama’s nominee once he sees who Hillary will nominate with a Democratic Senate. I can’t wait!

  16. NicaBrian says:

I wonder what made John Cornyn think of an analogy of a Supreme Court nominee and a piñata?

    CNN knows:

“I’m happy Judge Alito survived these unwarranted attacks. I’m also sorry that his family had to be subjected to them, as well. At some point, however, we as a committee will need to come to terms with our confirmation process. The current regime treats Supreme Court nominees more like piñatas than human beings. And that’s something none of us should be willing to tolerate,” Cornyn says in remarks before the committee recorded by C-SPAN on February 24, 2006 and available on its website.

Well, unless the current regime happens to be Republican.
