Cold As A Witch’s Ta-Tas In A Brass Bra
While the low in my neck of the woods this week is a frisky 38 degrees, I fully understand that everybody isn’t that blessed.
My good thoughts are with you and if you wanna talk about it before your toes turn blue please feel free to.
God bless ya.
P.S. – it would be nice if you would give us a general idea of where you are. You know, your state, general area or landmark you can get to in a day.
a comfortable sunny +17 at the moment, but supposed to get chilly later this week…
1but hey, pitchers and catchers report in 2 weeks
Gonna be another run on the grocery stores today and tomorrow–just like last weekend. Me included. Not gonna step a foot outside for several days.
2its 74 out in here in the South West.
3I read you regularly in Cleveland Ohio where its 21 right now (feels like 7) and looking forward to -6 early Wednesday morning.
4Here in Annapolis, MD., right outside of Washington DC (a drinking town with a sailing problem!), our high later this week will be in the low 20’s, so I’m getting outside today and tomorrow. I take care of 8 hawks and owls, so I’ll get them all ready tomorrow. Thanks for all that you do!
5It’s 25 degrees here near the Black Canyon of the Gunnison, cloudy, but no new snow, looking at sunny and the 40’s this week.
6Way up here in the far north, where I can see Denali from my backyard, it will be in the mid 30s. Tee shirt weather when it would normally be 10 to 10 below. Certainly abnormal for us. Stay warm down there in the lower 48.
7Well up here in Pittsburgh, I am wearing a turtle neck and two sweaters, leggings, corduroy jeans and lined snow pants… and that’s inside. Air temp was 10 this am, wind chills below zero. May get up to freezing later. Fortunately my dog has upped his efficiency rating to about 10 seconds per outside trip, but averages 5 trips per day, no fenced in yard. Wednesday’s high will be 7 degrees.
838 sounds absolutely tropical. Hang in there
As my handle proclaims, I’m in the Garden State, where it won’t break the freezing mark today, and Thursday’s high will be single digits– if we’re lucky.
I knit, so we have loads of wool socks, sweaters, vests, hats, scarves, mittens, and even fingerless gloves for typing. We also have down-filled coats rated to -20 deg F or so, and fur-lined boots from Canada.
Our dog is a collie, so this weather does not faze him– he still wants walks, though we have a large fenced-in yard. He gets short ones until the weather moderates.
Supposed to snow late tomorrow, so we will go food shopping early to restock the pantry. Stay warm, everyone!
928 in Mass. (20 with the wind). Not so bad. I wouldn’t mind 38 though!
10We in the Blue Ridge Mountains near Roanoke, VA. Sunny and warm (mid 40s) today, ice and snow tomorrow, Wednesday & Thursday insane with lows Thursday am 8 degrees. So of course Dear Hubby has his device check & meets with cardiologist Thursday morning. It’s over 50 miles one way, and I would send him by himself but I like to hear what the cardio has to say in person. By Saturday & Sunday, sunny and temps near 60. When did we move to Denver?
11I’m way WAY north of the Beauty Shop– all the way up in Wichita Falls, TX, where it’s a whole ONE degree cooler than the Beauty Shop. Brrr! Warm thoughts to everyone north of the Red River.
12Clear here, north of the Donner Pass on the NV side.

Freezing temperatures? Ya’ll talking about night in the summer?
13Going tropical today with a high near 50. But living at the mouth of the Columbia River Gorge (aka—the wind tunnel) we’re getting steady wind at about 30mph with gusts being near 50. Except for the temp, a normal day…
14East of DFW. We have four seasons, summer, still summer, holy jesus it’s still summer, and fall-winter-spring.
On the thermo-meter on the patio, 59 degrees F.
15Sunny and 27 on the eastern foothills of the Rockies in northern CO, feels like 17 with the wind. 50 miles south of here in Denver it’s snowing with 6 or more inches accumulation by the time they’re done. S’posed to be a tad colder tomorrow but back in the 50s by end of the week.
16Checking in from Geneva, IL here (about an hour west of Chicago). The temp is a balmy 31 degrees now, but it is expected to drop significantly soon. We had a pile of snow last night, so hubby and I spent the morning shoveling (me) and using the snow blower (him). We already did a last minute grocery run to stock up. It looks like a doozy of a week coming up with extreme cold, more snow showers, and some good winds blowing the snow all over. We will be okay, but I am worried about my youngest up at the U. of Minnesota where they are talking about 50 below with the wind chill and they NEVER cancel classes!
17It’s 6 here in St Paul but feels like -10. We have 5″ of new snow and expected temps of -28 Wed morn and -30 Thur morn. Our puppy is setting new records for running outside to pee.
We just looked outside and our neighbors shoveled our driveway. We love everything about our new home.
18Long time lurker here.
19Fort Myers, Florida.
Overcast, 53 degrees.
Just not used to this.
Have another two or three day’s
more of it they predict.
Can’t wait.
My daughter in Denver had 5” snow overnight and everyone was on the train to downtown this morning. Wow, a train to downtown . . .
20Cheery 65 today in N SF Bay area…
21Sorry…
Seeing exactly the same weather that SamInStPaul is seeing (since I’m also in St. Paul, MN). A few degrees above 0 (F), with a dusting of snow expected later this afternoon (after the 4-5″ left overnight), with a steady downward ramp in temperature after until Wednesday morning when it’s expected to reach -25 to -30F. Not windchill; that’s predicted to be -50F/-60F.
222 degrees, -11 with the windchill.
Supposed to get 6 + inches of snow tomorrow night. On top of the 12 + last week
My cats will not even go near the back door.
20 miles south of Canadian border in NY. Just outside the Adirondack Park. For which I am grateful. The park is colder and has more snow then we do!!!
23Foggy in the Willamette Valley, mid-50’s and only barely almost freezing at night. Trees seem to think it’s spring; dreading when the real chill comes in March and kills all the blossoms.
2420s in Boston today! Not too bad.
25My PWS’s reading 70degF at noon, should hit 75, been very sunny (but we had a little TS activity yesterday early morning with a weak front) but then a front tonight will pull it down for a couple of days.
26For your ‘climate denier’ types, this extreme cold snap is actually a spinoff of “climate change/global warming”. The Polar Vortex has recently been disrupted by unusual global jetstream flows (affected by a developing El Nino, unusually warm oceans AND polar regions).
The normally intact unitary Polar Vortex, which generally stays centered over the North Pole, split into three parts a few weeks ago, and one of them slid down over northern mid-to-eastern Canada, with a lot of the frigid airmass sliding down onto the midwest and eastern US.
It’s a lot more complicated than that of course, but you can tell the CD fools that summary and they might get a clue… well, nahhhh.
Here in the wilds of Central Maryland, between DC and Baltimore, it’s 33 degrees, but feels like 29. It’s supposed to snow tomorrow, although it’s sunny right now and the humidity is only about 30%. We’ll sprinkle some snow melt on the sidewalks tonight and hope for the best.
27Oh yeah, South Texas here.

28They had 5 inches of very heavy snow in Denver today, but I’m in Puerto Vallarta and it’s 77 and sunny right now. No…I am not crowing. I’m bored without having my usual slate of volunteer activities to do.
29Bought a pet warmer thingie for the cat who lives on our porch…..our dogs would kill her if given even the slightest chance. I inherited her from my neighbor when she died. Indianapolis, IN will be the coldest in 30 years…..
3051 headed down to minus 3 by Thursday morning here in Central Kentucky, and I have dug out the silk long johns I learned to wear during my years in Western New York. No kidding y’all: SILK LONG UNDERWEAR will keep you warm no matter what. And it weighs next to nothing.
3150 degrees when I woke this morning in North Austin. Up to 56 degrees now a bit before 1pm. A few degrees above freezing predicted for sunrise tomorrow. Heard NPR report as I was leaving PT session about noon that North Dakota is anticipating 50 degrees below zero. And I shivered so hard that my car reacted!
32Hey Tom in my hometown of Wichita Falls! S.H. Rider, class of 70! MSU class of 74. Part of the Austin colony of Wichitans since ’88.
According to weatherman it got down to the 50’s here and we are looking for icebergs in Kailua Bay
33Sure, sure. Everybody talks about the weather, but nobody does anything about it.

34Its been oscillating between 40+ swamp lands from the rain to 30- frozen muck, here in N.Carolina
35It’s 62 degrees and cloudy here in the Emerald Triangle of Northern california.
36@Fran seyer: Thank you for making provisions for the cat on your porch! May you all be safe and warm.
37Fran, I’m close but hadn’t seen that grime forecast yet. At least it should kill some anti-garden insects. Some of those summers following warm winters were challenging.
38Here in Davis, CA, after a weekend spent in Sonoma at a cancer center retreat. It’s 62 and partly cloudy. The Bradford pears have almost finished blooming, and the narcissus are also past their peak. The wild mustard was bright gold along the edges of the vineyards, the coast range is bright green with new grass from a month of rain, and the Sierras to the east have a cap of new snow. I saw a flock of egrets in the wetlands below the bypass between here and Sacramento the other day. Any day now, the almond orchards around our town will be in full bloom. And I have a bag of oranges and lemons from a friend’s trees
39It’s spring! My favorite season, with memories of growing up in Silicon Valley back when it was still orchards and wild creeks coming down from the hills, and months of lovely blossoms unfolding one fruit crop after another.

40I’m 40 miles south of the 2 folks in St. Paul, Manysnowduh. Got 5″ of snow last night. It’s a balmy +11° right now with a 10 mph wind, so -2° windchill. Three days of frozen hell coming up when I do not plan to leave my humble abode. High temperatures forecast for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday are -9°, -16° and -3°. Lows tonight and tomorrow night are -31° and -32°. Windchill as low as -56° on Wednesday.
Oh yeah. Before I go home today I’m stopping at the liquor store. Priorities, ya know?
41It’s a sunny 51 in downtown Jacksonville with a slight breeze. On a sunny day the heater may never turn on (70 heat). Got a SW orientation so my building is baked on a good day. Stay snug, y’all!
42Here in North Alabama, just outside Huntsville, it has been in the 50’s today. Supposed to go down in the 20’s tonight with rain turning to snow by midnight with predictions of 1 to 3 inches of snow. Tomorrow and Wednesday it is supposed to stay in the 20’s during the day with tomorrow night in the teens and Wednesday night low to 10 or below, then warming up to 30 degree days and nites in 20’s. Brrr!! I hope we don’t lose power. Supposed to go back up to 40’s and 50’s over the weekend. I have stocked up on birdseed and suet, and have filled all the feeders. I am also making stew and cornbread for us with extra cornbread to put out for birds and other critters. Keep warm, y’all!
43What a hoot – looking forward to those icebergs in Kailua Bay, and glad I don’t live up in yankeeLand with my cousins!
Our high today is your low for the week, Miss JJ – we’re in the mountains of western North Carolina 2 hours from anywhere you’ve heard of (Charlotte, Asheville,…), looking at a little light snow tomorrow and lows (not counting wind chill) down to 8. That is, pretty normal and only 1 extra layer. Y’all stay warm out there!
44@eyesoars WOW” Another MN resident who is a friend of Juanita. We are thankful every day that we moved from TX to MN. We’re in Roseville but thinking of moving to the balmy climes of Duluth in the summer.
45Here in Greenbelt MD at the NE corner of the Washington Beltway, home of NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center, it’s 33° at sunset Monday but we’re expected to be below freezing from Tuesday evening through most of Saturday, bottoming out around 8°F Thursday dawn, not counting wind chill. Our family of rescued cats will be told how glad they should be to be indoor cats.
@Fran Seyer, I hope there’s someplace inside that you can bring the cat that’s safe from your dogs– if not, I hope you can check that the warmer is keeping her/him okay. It’s going to be killing cold where you are, and I’m a worrier.
4619 degrees and more snow approaches on the West Coast of New York but it should be way up into the 20’s tomorrow. After which the bottom will fall out of the thermometer
4726F here, down the hill from UConn, which really feels like the Yukon when winds howl between the buildings. Single digits Th AM, when hopefully Amtrak will be running to take us south to where it might be at least double digits.
Sandridge, why can’t the local weather guys mention the connection to climate change? They have time for photos of babies and dogs, how about some science too?
4833 degrees in Juneau, Alaska, but it’s been well above that for a week or so.
49Northern, eastern, western, Blue Ridge Mtns, North Carolina. Almost Tennessee, Virginia and Kentucky…
50cold, real cold, warmish, cold and snowy tomorrow, almost a balmy 35° today. It’s all over the map here these days. ‘haf’ta go check on friends (who live elsewhere in the winter) houses periodically to see they haven’t stove up!
