Cluck Cluck Cluck

For the first two months of the new Congress, the 292 Republicans have scheduled just 88 in-person town hall events — and 35 of those sessions are for Rep. Jim Sensenbrenner of Wisconsin, according to a tabulation conducted by Legistorm. In the first two months of the previous Congress in 2015, by contrast, Republicans held 222 in-person town hall events.

Legistorm counted them.

  1. Maybe when they run for reelection they’ll be too scared to campaign.

And in related news, Prissy and Sissy (you figure out which is which), McCain and Lindsey G., are having a town hall on real live teevee (Check your local listings.)

The pearl-clutching should be “fabulous”! Gee… do you think the “audience” will be “invited” to ask questions? Questions maybe they found taped to the seat back in front of them? Oh… the suspense is killing me.

    John&LindseyLIVE. Start that popcorn machine!

Select just a few of the Democratic House members, Steny Hoyer, Maxine Waters, John Lewis, Elijah Cummings, Keith Ellison, etc. Then contrast with the snacilbupeR ‘representatives.’ There is no comparison even if we allow them a discount for Steve King and Louie Gohmert.

President Obama isn’t nearly as easy to dislodge as they had imagined. Only way to repeal the ACA is to replace it with single-payer. Insurance will never be affordable or doctor/patient orientated with the burden of insurance companies scamming for CEO bonuses. It’s not simply just the ACA. We have a number of friends who work in the casino industry who have work sponsored insurance. But that doesn’t stop their insurance from becoming costlier each year with higher deductibles, co-pays and reduced services. Consider Blue Cross/Blue Shield. The A, B & C plans are almost credible. But when it comes to the H, I, J and other plans, it’s surgery without an anesthesiologist and other non-essential perks. “No honey, that is not valet parking, it’s your surgical ward.” I was very lucky to have had my clipping and snipping done at Planned Parenthood by a real doctor with all the frills included like the post op exams to ensure that blanks were being fired and not live rounds. That was nearly $5000 of medical care for ~$1500 which we’ll show our appreciation by donating until we make-up the fair market value.

JAKvirginia, La Bomba John McCain at least redeemed himself a little at the Town Hall, when he actually corrected a constituent essentially telling her ‘no, candidate Obama is a decent Christian American.’ Whereas Graham went from almost human back to jag-off, when he apologized to Teddie Crooze. He should have stayed with his first thought – shoot the SOB.

  5. Here in NJ11, we have Missing posters all over for Rep Freylinghuysen. He’ll meet with kids who can’t vote, but not with voters. 2018 can’t come soon enough.

  6. Chris Collins (R-NY 27) says no meetings for him. People are rude, and shout, and he’ll always be happy to have people make an appointment to meet him one of his offices.

Collins proves once again, he has no….guts.

  7. MN has 3 snacilbupeR in Congress. Those 3, Jason Loser Lewis, Tom Emmer, and Erik Paulsen, held 1 town hall. I give Emmer credit, even though he kept it to a small venue that held less than 200. He listened, was respectful, didn’t belittle them. He is in Crazy Michelle Bachmann’s old district, most snacilbupeR of the entire state.

SouDakota’s senator, John Thune of the uber corrupt SD snacilbupeR, didn’t have one. Johnny has been SouDakota’s golden boy for years. If he was scared to have a townhall – it must be really nasty out there. Of course SD is one of the poorest states and gets lots of Fed $ while having lousy services. The citizens must be realizing that the snacilbupeR plans will be very, very hard on them. They deserve it, being scarlet red and letting the snacilbupeR get away with all that illegal crap, corruption, etc. Maybe, just m a y b e , they’ll learn something.

  8. Jane and PKM, the Repubs cannot logically just repeal Obamacare standalone, but when has logic ever stopped them?

I do agree that “Medicare for All” is the logical replacement. Much of the public has agreed for a long time now. I just wish Dem politicians would climb on board and get noisy about it. Heck, it even fits on a t-shirt. And it would be a great issue in 2018 as an argument for Dems taking back Congress.

  11. I am going to try and participate in a phone-in town hall tonight for Congressman Don Beyer. He will be calling me at 5:45 PM and will take all questions. I was a bit dubious about this for a number of reasons, but then it struck me that working people generally don’t have the time to go to an evening town hall. I am going to be hot and heavy on ICE and CBP. they have been free ranging in my neighborhood rounding up anyone that looks like they just might not belong in this country. There are two church sponsored hypothermia shelters in my neighborhood. One of them got hit hard. I thought such shelters, complete with a room for religious services and identified as such with liturgical symbols, were off limits. Some of the ICE wranglers wore blue windbreakers with the word POLICE stamped on the back. The local county mounties were definitely surprised at this as none of their people were involved. I would say that something stinketh about this but on second thought, everything stinketh about this! Will let you know how this telephone town hall turned out.
