Texas Oh Texas UPDATE!

June 27, 2016 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

Okay, so the Supreme Court wanted to see how Texas’ new highly restrictive abortions law under HB2 is keeping women from having abortions.

Texas had the data months ago.  So, the proper procedure would be to get a big ole envelope, print out the data, put it in the envelope, address it to the Supreme Court of the United Damn States of America, slap some stamps on that sucker and give it to the mailman.

Texas did all except the last.

The data sits in a desk drawer somewhere in the bowels of Greg Abbott’s secret survivalist bunker next to his abridged copy of the Constitution and a stack of the souls of people denied health care in Texas.

… when staffers at the state Department of Health Services finished their work and prepared to release the data, the process stalled after the numbers were submitted to the department’s legal department for final approval, the source said. Internal emails provided to The Texas Tribune show agency workers were then told the numbers were not ready to be released.

Since then, the agency has responded to requests for the numbers from reporters and interested parties by saying they have not been finalized.

Luckily, Texas has a few remaining good guys left who have’t been swallowed up by the religious rantings of white men who have all their religion in their wives’ names.

While the employee did not provide details about the 2014 statistics, the employee indicated there was a drop in every single type of procedure, including a significant drop in medication abortion, a procedure used to end early pregnancies. (Abortion providers have said drug-induced abortions dropped dramatically under HB 2 because of stricter requirements.)

The state of Texas, through its Attorney General, felony-indicted and petty thief Ken Paxton, says we don’t have those numbers for the Supremes to review.

Thelma is taking bets that the numbers will be released the day after the Supreme Court decision.

Because it’s Texas, dammit.

Thanks to everybody for the heads up.

UPDATE:  Damn, Boys!  It did you not one bit of good to sell your soul to the devil and lie, lie, lie.

The U.S. Supreme Court on Monday struck down one of the nation’s toughest restrictions on abortion, a Texas law that women’s groups said would have forced more than three-quarters of the state’s clinics to shut down.

This Is Fun

What to see Martin O’Malley make mincemeat of Governor Jan Brewer?

Of course you do.

Remember when your mother said not to make an ugly face because one day your face will stick that way?  Jan Brewer should have listened to her mother.

And you know Martin O’Malley was having a mess of fun baiting her with the shaking finger near the end of the segment.

I might have to watch this clip several times.  Way to go, Martin O’Malley!

Best Line:  “I don’t believe he meant it in the manner that he said it.”

Not Fun With Guns

Most of you have heard about the mother in Fulshear, Texas, who shot and killed both her daughters before the police were able to stop her by shooting and killing her.

Fulshear is about 12 miles from where I live.  We are in the same county as Fulshear.

This won’t be a funny story to tell.

Christy Sheats was 42 years old when she purposefully shot and killed both her daughters over a family argument. There’s no report on the subject matter of the argument.

Christy had some very strong political beliefs.  On Facebook, she played a devout Christian and Obama-hater.

She also was a gun advocate and claimed that you and I wanted to take away her guns and the safety of her children.  This post below came one day after the March 1 primary in Texas.  Christy did not vote in that election.  The only times she voted were in 2008 and 2012 general elections.

Horribly tragic.  Let that ring in your ears.

Stand Back! He’s Fixing To Be Struck By Lightning!

Y’all, Tom DeLay.  I know, I know, he’s supposed to be gone but, y’all, he’s my damn neighbor.  He lives just outside spitting distance from my house that is certainly lucky for him.

So, unknown to everyone including me, he’s written a new book.  Well, that’s not quite true.  Someone else wrote a book and offered to give Tom money to hawk it.  Don’t buy it because if it sells as well as his first book, it’ll be $ .02 by next Thursday.

1254860012_tom-delay-290As his life has shown, Tom will pretty much do anything for money and/or attention.  He’s in Washington, DeeCee, this week selling “his” book, looking for someone to buy his lunch, and chasing skirts.  He was able to lasso a reporter.

He was powerfully upset by the Democrats having a sit-in.

If the Sugar Land Republican were still running the show at the U.S. Capitol, he said, he would’ve had no mercy for the Democrats participating.

“I’m heartbroken. The destruction of dignity, decorum of the people’s House,” he said. “That House doesn’t belong to those members. It belongs to the people of the United States, and for them to desecrate it like they just did is beyond me.”

Pot, meet kettle.  Goodness sake, desecrate is a mighty big word for one of the biggest crooks ever in the House.  Just because all his crookerly was behind closed doors doesn’t make it a sacrament.

Need I remind you that the only character witness he could come up with for his trial was Dennis Hastert.  He has said before that we need to pray for Hastert, but now we should file ethics charges against John Lewis.

“You cannot allow things like this to happen without some consequences,” he said. “I think what I’d do is file ethics charges against every member that did this.”

Yeah, and that’s why American got rid of his sorry butt.

You’ll be amused to know that Tom hasn’t made a decision on Donald Trump yet.  Obviously, this is because Trump hasn’t given him any money yet.  But, Tom sure has his hand out …

“I’m not there yet. [I] may wait until voting day before I decide whether I am going to vote or not,” he said. “There’s plenty of time between now and then for him to convince me he’s a conservative, a constitutional conservative.”  [Translation: give me some money, Pal.]

Then he added: “I think the good thing about Trump is he tells it like it is, and he tells the truth, sometimes.”

Sometimes.  As opposed to Tom, as in never.

Thanks to everybody for the heads up.

The Sidewalks Will Melt Your Tennis Shoes

And, apparently, your brain.

Tony Robbins, Guru of Rampant Raging Guruism, held a seminar in Dallas.  He asked people to walk on hot coals.  In Dallas.  In the summertime. Hell, how does he think they got there?

So people who had given him money got a chance to walk across hot coals.  Now I wanna tell you something.  I’m a native Texan and, Honey, I would not walk across hot coals even to get barbeque.  Do you hear me? Not even barbeque.

Screen Shot 2016-06-24 at 5.24.08 PMApproximately 40 participants attending a Tony Robbins seminar downtown suffered minor burn injuries late Thursday after walking across hot coals in what is being described as a motivational event.

Trainers for Robbins’ motivational seminars told News 8 walking on coals is a very emotional experience for people, and that participants were doing something they didn’t think was possible.

But we saw just how painful a reality that exercise was for a large group of people attending the “Unleash the Power Within” seminar in Dallas Thursday night.

I don’t know this for a fact but I imagine poking yourself in the eye with a ballpoint pen would be very emotional, too, because holy-crap-that’s-painful is an emotion.  It’s just that I wouldn’t do that and I sure as tarnation wouldn’t pay somebody to talk me into it.

I’m figuring that Trump University was full so the spill-over crowd of idiots went to this seminar.

Write this down somewhere: do not walk on hot coals.  They are very hot.

Thanks to everybody for the heads up.
