And You Thought I’d Never Say “Thank you, Chuck Grassley.”

September 21, 2017 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

Senator Chuck Grassley ain’t well-known for his intellect.  I thought I would possibly be the last person on earth to celebrate that.

But, things have gotten weird.  Really weird.

Grassley supports the Graham-Cassidy bill and, bless his heart, took to the airwaves to explain why.

“You know, I could maybe give you 10 reasons why this bill shouldn’t be considered,” Grassley said. “But Republicans campaigned on this so often that you have a responsibility to carry out what you said in the campaign. That’s pretty much as much of a reason as the substance of the bill.”

In normal times, you’d think that being totally political would be one of the reasons NOT to support the bill.  But, these are weird times.

It appears that removing the word “Obamacare” far outweighs putting 10 million people off healthcare.

Grassley does not stop with the admission the Republican plan is solely a political move and heath care be damned. Oh no, he also explains why state boundaries were originally set for health care reasons.

Allowing states to shape health care benefits and regulations to match their populations will better account for the geographic and economic diversity of the country.

“What might fit Massachusetts and New York and Maryland doesn’t fit Iowa very well,” Grassley said.

You know, because somebody living in Georgia ain’t at all like somebody living in Alabama.  Hell, they don’t even root for the same college football teams so how the dickens do you expect them to have the same health care needs?  Little known fact: cancer does not kill you in Nebraska. I mean, you have to call into work sick for a couple of days, drink some apple cider vinegar, and you’re new and fit by Friday. However, hangnails will land your butt in intensive care in South Dakota.

I have an idea.  Let’s repeal the word “Obamacare” and replace it with the words “Affordable Care Act.”  Don’t change anything else – just that.  Everybody happy now?

Thanks to everybody for the heads up!

Worst Threat Ever

Florida Republican State Senator Jack Latvala doesn’t take guff off anybody.

He’s a stand-up guy who will tell you how the cow ate the cabbage.

Florida state senator [Latvala] who is running for governor said this week that he would punish Duke Energy for its slow response after Hurricane Irma by refusing their donations for one campaign cycle.

“In this cycle,” Latvala told the Times, “I’m done taking money from them.”

Well, that’ll show ‘um, dammit.

Rep. Chris Sprowls (R) also promised to “ask a lot of difficult questions.”

And there will be no grading on the curve.

Thanks to SGray for the heads up.

Sounds Like a Fun Guy!

Jeff Mateer is currently the First Assistant Attorney General of Texas.

He’s a real fun guy.  He’s active in the Liberty Institute and Trump’s nominee for a federal judgeship.

In a pair of 2015 speeches, President Donald Trump’s nominee for a federal judgeship in Texas described transgender children as evidence of “Satan’s plan,” lamented that states were banning conversion therapy and argued that sanctioning same-sex marriage would lead to polygamy and bestiality.

Yeah, just the kind of guy I want as a federal judge – a guy who thinks Satan is birthing children and spends his free time thinking about having sex with sheep.

Thanks to Craig for the heads up.

The Great Beyond

There is a chance, a pretty good chance, that Roy Moore is gonna be the next United States senator from Aladamnbama.

Moore is so damn nuts that Trump went to Alabama to defend his title as Head Crazy Guy in DeeCee by endorsing Moore’s opponent.  But Moore has a secret weapon – God Hisownself.

Moore talking on CNN.

“You wonder why we’re having shootings, and killings here in 2017? Because we’ve asked for it. We’ve taken God out of everything. We’ve taken prayer out of school, we’ve taken prayer out of council meetings.”

You’d think everybody would have notice that there were no killings and crap before 1962. Or, that the increased of availability of guns has anything at all to do with this.

And to prove that Moore has God on his side, he even touted the endorsement of the infamous Phyllis Schlafly.  Schlafly died a year ago at age 92, proving that the good die young. She stopped most of her endorsements and public appearances following her death.

Thanks to everybody for the heads up.

Keep It Classy, Republicans.

Republicans are not doing well in social media.  It’s Facebook now.

South Dakota State House member and majority whip Lynne DiSanto, posted a little drawing on Facebook.

Oh, yeah.  Vehicular murder is just so damn funny.

But, settle down, because she can easily explain that you totally misunderstood her little joke.

“I am sorry if people took offense to it and perceived my message in any way insinuating support or condoning people being hit by cars,” DiSanto said. “I perceived it differently. I perceived it as encouraging people to stay out of the street.”

No, you did not, Miss Priss.

Later she blamed “the highly charged political environment that we’re in.”  Holy crap. woman, who do you think cause that?  What the hell is wrong with you?  Does it have a name?  Is there a cure?

Okay, so we’ve got a killer hurricane in Puerto Rico, pissed off allies at the UN, a Republican health care bill trying to kill us all, a major earthquake in Mexico City, a failing infrastructure, a government owned by Russia and soon under indictment, and what does our president think is important?

He never got an Emmy.
