Now Right Here You Got Yourself Catch 23

November 03, 2011 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

Okay, so here’s the deal.  Some folks have been wanting to Occupy the Supreme Court.

But, you got this:

Title 40, Subtitle II, Part C, Chapter 61, Subchapter IV, Section 6135 of the US Code: “It is unlawful to parade, stand, or move in processions or assemblages in the Supreme Court Building or grounds, or to display in the Building and grounds a flag, banner, or device designed or adapted to bring into public notice a party, organization, or movement.”

Now, clearly that’s unconstitutional.  I’ve seen grandma take a hoe to a snake with less damage than Title 40, Subtitle II, Part C, Subchapter 6135 does to the First Amendment.

But, who would declare it unconstitutional?

Ah ha, you got it.

So, the Supremes, who interpret the constitution, would have to  declare that picking on them is constitutionally guaranteed.  Yeah, right, Scalia is gonna for for that.  Hell, Scalia doesn’t even think that women have a constitutional protection against discrimination.  Women protesting on the courthouse steps would give the Scalia gout or something.

Thanks to Carl for the heads-up.

I Think It Was You

So Ann Coulter thinks the libruls leaked the Cain dirt.  Cain says Perry did it.  Perry says Mitt did it.  Mitt says … uh, crickets.

Oddly enough, the person who benefited most from the Cain tumble is none other than Newt Gingrich.   You remember Newt, don’t you?

A new round of Republican primary and caucus polling from Public Policy Polling (D) — conducted almost entirely before the recent controversy involving past allegations against Herman Cain of sexual harassment — show Cain leading among Republicans in North Carolina and Maine. But perhaps more importantly, PPP’s analysis suggests that in the event of any potential Cain collapse, the likeliest beneficiary would be…Newt Gingrich.

So, personally, I think you leaked the Cain story just so Newt could be the new flavor of the week.  Think of it, a white fat white guy with an irritating voice, and even more irritating wife, irritating ideas, and enough arrogance to fill Yankee Stadium.  That is just perfect.

UPDATE:  Oh, pass the popcorn!

Piñata Perry

Well, since everybody else is taking a whack at him, so does the original Belles of Heaven Republican Women’s Club founder Phyllis Schlafly.

The article is about Perry’s tax proposal, but Schlafly entitles  her column, “Rick Perry’s Marriage Problems.”

Sample?

Does Rick Perry want to undermine traditional marriage? This question leaps out from his new 20 percent flat tax plan, which would eliminate all tax advantages for married couples in which one spouse is the primary breadwinner.

For more than 60 years, the federal income tax has treated the family as an economic unit. A husband and wife have the benefit of pooling their income in a joint tax return which affords larger deductions and lower rates.

Perry would replace the pooling of husband-wife income with a system in which each individual, regardless of marital status, would owe federal taxes on his or her separate income.

Way to go, Phyllis!  Work in “traditional marriage”  and Rick Perry and taxes, and you just kneecapped the guy.

I imagine Laura is swooning.

Hey Rick, and this is how your friends treat you.  Wait until November, Big Guy.

Poor Rand Paul.

Okay, so he does work at a distinct disadvantage that no one in the Paul family has any social skills to write home about, but he’s still wondering “what do women want?”

Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) has an interesting take on Herman Cain’s growing scandal: honestly, he says, these days it seems like women can’t take a joke.

“There are people now who hesitate to tell a joke to a woman in the workplace, any kind of joke, because it could be interpreted incorrectly,” he told the National Review. “I don’t. I’m very cautious.”

Yeah, Rand, it’s all our fault.  We can’t take a joke.

Bless his pathetic little heart, I guess every time he makes a joke at home, his wife has to make a beeline for the bed.

Perhaps remembering the Aqua Buddha story, Rand Paul now says —

“I don’t think you should print stuff like that. To libel someone’s character and not put your name on it, I think is inappropriate and shouldn’t be printed.”

Oh yeah, like the press did with Monica Lewinsky and Rielle Hunter.

I get it.

Thanks to Deb for the heads-up.

And Speaking of Wasted Days and Wasted Nights

The very same guys who want to go back to the Founding Fathers, spent yesterday hammering  the motto of the United States of America made in 1782 of E Pluribus Unum.

They much preferred the “modern” motto of 1956 of In God We Trust.  And they felt the overwhelming need to “re-affirm” that as our motto because President Barack Obama once said that E Pluribus Unum is our national motto.  They thought it was African for “Kenya Will Win the Olympics.”  We missed a big opportunity – we should have told them it means No New Taxes.

Now if somebody would just explain to me how this created one new job or preserved social security or got our troops home safely or hired one teacher or accomplished anything except trying to embarrass the President – who made fools of you because he’s smarter than you are – I’ll shuddup about it.

Until then, I am going to bring this up every time they say they want to go back to the meanings of the Founding Fathers.

I Get More Done Before Noon Than Rick Perry Does All Day and I Don’t Even Get Up Until 8:00

I am not saying that Rick Perry is a lazy son of a motherless goat who sucks off the taxpayer teat while lounging by the pool.  I’m not saying that.  Oh hell, who am I kidding?  That’s exactly what I’m saying.

You know how you have an occasional day where you think, “Damn, the boss shouldn’t have paid me today because I didn’t get anything accomplished?”  Rick has those every day.

Take a lookie right here.  If you’re like me, you will find yourself unable to quit reading because it’s mesmerizing to see how entitled a man can feel.  Here’s just a tiny sample.

b. On Nov. 9th he want to a funeral at 10:00 in the am (remember this was state business, not personal) . That was evidently so exhausting that Mr. Perry was unable to do any other state business that day.

c. On Nov. 3rd the only work he did for the State of Tx. was to call the Lt. Governor at 10:15.

d. On Friday March 4th Rick Perry devoted a total of 10 minutes to a conference call regarding a response to the wildfires in Texas.

e. On Friday Jan. 7th Governor Perry considered attendance at a Party and Game in Dallas, as part of his duties as Governor. Dinner was held at the Steak & Chop house in Ft. Worth, and he was driven to Cowboy stadium for the AT&T Cottton Bowl: LSU v. Texas A & M game. Lucky for the Governor he was able to get home to Austin that night to sleep in his own bed since he flew with Harrison Aviation, and his flight time was a mere 45 minutes. Upon his arrival in Austin, he didn’t have to waste time hailing a cab since his driver was waiting for him. It was a good thing this was State Business as this trip to Dallas could have cost the Governor a lot of money.

Goodness sake, he makes Ferris Bueller look like a workaholic.

Now, there are those who will argue that we do not want Rick Perry to spend  more time on state business because when he does he makes a mess of things.  However, according to studies made of his calendar, he works less than part time.  As we say here in Texas, “He dabbles in gubernatorialship.”

Around here, our district court judges, who are renowned for laziness, came up with the bright idea of putting their names on their reserved parking spaces at the courthouse.  It made them feel entitled, a feeling most of them were born with.

Anyway, it took them several months and a smart newspaper editor to point put that having their names on their parking spaces made it real easy for the public to see how little they worked.  Soon thereafter, they replaces their names with numbers.

And I think that pretty much explains why Perry is delighted not to live in the Governor’s mansion, but instead way out in a gated community so nobody can see him lounging by the pool all day.

Thanks to Nan for the heads-up.
