But Wait! Jesus is Doing His Robocalls!
There’s a very popular Democrats running for Congress in Texas against a Republican incumbent who is, of freekin’ course, bringing Jesus into the race.
The Texas Tribune is covering the story. Pete Gallego, the Democrat, is a heckuva great guy. His opponent, Quico Canseco, is going to the far corner of hell in a parka and snow boots for all eternity.
Canseco up and decided to announce that he is being endorse by Jesus. He even got Jesus to pose for a picture so he could use on a mailer.
Click the little one to get the big one.
Gallego, naturally, is mad. Hell, even three Republicans who served with him in the Texas House are mad. They don’t wanna to do that parka in hell thing. Who can blame them?
So, if there’s a thunderstorm, do not stand near Quico Canseco. Especially if it’s raining parkas and snowboots.
So you aren’t talking about Joe Walsh’s abortion comments? I could get my panties in a wad over this flyer but they are already so tight my navel is popping out. I don’t want idiots without brains making decisions that affect me.
1And people wonder why the founding fathers wanted a separation between church and state.
2Upstairs – it’s real, real hard to cover ALL the GOP foul-up and absurdities. Seriously. Real hard.
3You. Have. Got. To. Be. Kidding. Me.
I cannot remember a time in politics, when anybody…… and I mean anybody………. got their political instructions…… from God.
Lord. Help. Us.
4Christianity is a political party and Jesus is simply a pawn that the religious party affiliates move about on the party platform to back up some of their sillier ignorances. I wouldn’t set foot in a church today for any reason. The Christian conservatives are bound and determined to make Christianity a state/national religion and require everyone to profess belief in it.
5Looking for a number to call so I can actually hear Jesus in person since I won’t be getting any robocalls here in Fla.
6Miemaw, have you already forgotten that god told governor goodhair and michelle badmouth to run for president? Isn’t that what gallego is channeling?
7If the Founding Fathers had keyboards to slap their faces on, all their output these days would be:hgarvhha-s809hyub
The colonies were populated by various religious groups fleeing religious wars in Europe and/or discrimination and pogroms. That’s the reason for the First Amendment and the statement in the Constiution itself that no religious test could be required for anybody to hold any office. Sheesh!!! What is so hard for these folks to understand about this????
8The Fundamentalist Taliban is gonna be the death of this country…or at least to those with lady parts.
9The only appropriate verse is “Jesus wept.”
10He’s the same tool who held up security at San Antonio airport because he got miffed at TSA. He has another ad about radical environmentalists. Ugh
11Seems to me that all those Publicans who announced that God told them to run for president got it wrong and dropped out long ago. Or did Mitt out-and-out say it too? If he did, that’s 1 for about 4.
I get so tired of people shoving their “religion” in our faces and into our legislatures, especially the loudest ones who never seem to have the slightest idea what their “holy book” actually says. It’s just another prejudice and a way to manipulate people. Saddest thing is that it often works.
I have nothing at all against sincere religious people who are quietly going about the business of being nice and helping people. Y’all have a clue. The loudmouths don’t.
12Djw, Gallego good, Canseco bad. Pete Gallego is the good guy!
13Michelle, I hear that Canseco ad at least 5 times during the evening news every single day. “Gallego voted 100% for radical environmentalists.” I guess it’s radical nowadays to want clean air and water, especially since they are doing so much fracking around here.
And have you noticed this year, Canseco’s ads all have him saying “I’m Francisco Canseco.” Not a word about him being Quico this time around. I’m just glad he does not represent me. LLoyd Doggett is running in my district to replace Charlie Gonzalez and the ads he ran during the primary were nice. They had people who talked about what Lloyd had done for their communities and it really made a great change to see ads like that. Too bad more of them don’t have ads like that. The mute button on my remote always gets a workout during campaign season.
14Juanita,
I simply do not understand why you do not have enough time to cover ALL of the RePig obstruction, crimes and general idiocy. (SNARK)
Each day I find something, make a list and wonder if you will be sick and tired of me sending you links of so many things they do on any given day.
Thanks for doing what you do and thanks for letting us vent here.
15In The Devil’s Dictionary Ambrose Bierce wrote, “Patriotism, n. Combustible rubbish ready to the torch of any one ambitious to illuminate his name. In Dr. Johnson’s famous dictionary patriotism is defined as the last resort of a scoundrel. With all due respect to an enlightened but inferior lexicographer I beg to submit it is the first.” Nowadays this seems to apply to religion.
16@Upstairs – your panty comment is so funny I have to steal it. My doctor refuses to up my xanax perscription and I’ve pushed the cat off the hot tin roof. This non-blog is where I get the laughs and strength to carry on. If the race were not so close, I’d think the pendulum on stupid and mean had swung as far to the right as it can. I guess there is always further to go in space.
