But It’s Probably Not a Bad Idea

Rand Paul, the man with the dead baby squirrel on his head, is condemning Democrats for wanting to “drown the rich.”

Rand Paul

Rand Paul (R-KY) brought the shrillness to new heights today on the Senate floor, screeching about how y’all want to punish the rich “producers” and how you’d pay for it when you ruin the economy just because you wanted to get some rich people. Paul likened raising taxes on rich people to “drowning” them (a more specific version of “death by taxes”). Yes, you are killing rich people out of pure spite.

I know this is a stupid question but I’m just full of stupid.  We’ve had the lowest tax rate on the rich for 12 years now and where the hell are the jobs?  Where the hell is the trickle down?  These guys did not create jobs – they created Swiss bank accounts.

I do not want to drown the rich.  I just want to keep them from peeing in the pool.

Thanks to Marcia for the heads up.

I can’t stop laughing: I do not want to drown the rich. I just want to keep them from peeing in the pool.

I declare 2013 the War On Stupid. When you see it or hear it, call it out!

There is no trickle down, just tinkled on.

Fun chart…corporate profits as % of GDP at an all time high, wages as % of GDP at an all time low:

  3. Rand Paul and Mitch McConnell rival Jon Kyl and John McCain for the title “Twin Embarrassments” although it isn’t Kyl anymore, but Flake. LOL!

Welcome to 2013. This was the year that the entire debt would have been paid off under the Clinton budget if not for two wars of choice and Bush’s “free gifts to voters.”

Seriously, no debt, no debt ceiling, no ridiculous arguing over whether we should spend on infrastructure, no hits to safety nets…

All that would have been missing was the flying car.

Granted, stimulus spending might still have been necessary to overcome the recession caused by other Republican policies, but then we’d have been able to afford it, and just arguing about deregulation, instead of paying our bills and taking care fo our citizens.

Remind all your family and friends who are born-again deficit hawks (who belatedly saw the light when they saw their new President in 2009) know that THIS was the year we’d have paid it off.

    Democrat-style.

Chill, Rand. We’re just drowning them; we’re not eating them.

  6. Oh, crap (sorry Mama) are they at it again? Dumb, dumb and more dumb. I apologize on the part of all sane Kentuckians. There are a lot of us.

    Hippie in the hollar.

Remember, these are the same people that promised if the Bush tax cuts were kept in place the last time that it would create jobs. Where are those jobs? Oh yeah, more minimum wage jobs that you can’t live on even if you work 16 hours a day.

  8. If the rich are standing in a pool of water, and the water is the amount of taxes they pay, it would go up to their knees or thighs. In Mitt Romney’s case, his 13% ankles. If you raise the water an inch, and some of them drown, I don’t think drowning will be the cause of death. Unless it’s stupid + drowning.

Seems to me like those “job creators” gave us credit default swaps, collateralized debt obligations, and mortgage-backed securities. And what did that get us? Handing over billions and trillions in Wall Street Bailouts, courtesy of the US taxpayer. Seems to me that the top tax tiers need to pay a lot more in taxes over a lot of years before that “debt” is settled.

That’s an insult to squirrels. Even a dead baby squirrel would be embarrassed to be seen in such a ridiculous and ignominious position.

  11. LoL: likely the funniest comment of the day “keep them from peeing in the pool”. Thank you for the laugh! The worst thing about the Republicans is they are such obvious asses that all their crap overshadows the same crap pulled also by many Democrats and people forget that Democrats in Congress are pulling the same crap. For example, all this recent BS about a “fiscal cliff” WHAT A LOAD of BS and drama from BOTH sides! All they are doing is building an excuse to implement austerity measures. Global leaders all over the world have their own national versions of a “fiscal cliff.” What concerns them the most is that they might have to pay 20 of 25% of their income in taxes instead of 12%. Austerity measures insure they get to keep their tax cuts and benefit the wealthy investor class– the majority of Congress, not the majority of Americans. They should be talking about JOB CREATION, not austerity creation.

  12. OMG, those rich job creators have done one helluva piss poor job! Time to fire them! And Rand and all his whining buddies along with them! Vote Ashley Judd!

The funny thing is that poor rednecks in Kentucky will buy this load of crap. The same ones who get their “news” from FOX and Limbaugh will believe the lies about Obama and the Democrats hurting the job creators. That and the fact they hate the thought of a nonwhite President.
