Briscoe Cain is Everything that’s Wrong with Texas
Green; rookie; smartass; ignorant; arrogant; hypocrite; incompetent beneficiary of radical gerrymandering. Those are all descriptors for Texas’ newest tadpole swimming in the sewer that is Texas Republican politics, Briscoe Cain. Cain is one of those cases of shape shifting; he grew up in Deer Park, and was a high school cheerleader. In subsequent years he underwent a complete transformation from cheerleader to smart mouthed, gun toting, presidential candidate threatening, manly man hyper focused on bathroom legislation, voter suppression, providing guns to idiots, and ignorant of Texas’ own racist roots. His political stunts include not only threatening to shoot Beto O’Rourke; he even crashed a Fort Worth Democratic Party convention armed and passing out yard signs that said, “This house is a safe gun free zone”. He was ejected, only to return again. He was finally escorted out by police. He got away with it, of course.
A good example of Cain’s total ignorance of said racist history was when he walked headlong into a historical ambush laid by Democratic Rep. Rafael Anchia, who questioned Cain’s use of the term “purity of the ballot box” in his drafting of HB 7, the latest voter suppression law. It’s pretty entertaining.

Anchia owned Cain, revealing to the public just how poorly reasoned HB7 really is. This embarrassing episode (for Cain) was a textbook example of what happens when a Texas Republican is confronted by someone not inside his echo chamber and carpet bombed with history and facts. It didn’t do the slightest bit of good legislatively, though. The bill passed anyway, with minimal amendments.
That is the tragedy of Texas which continues to stagger under unfettered single party rule where protecting criminals from gun safety laws, dictating public bathroom policy, and keeping people from voting take precedence over funding education, lowering barriers to healthcare, and making the state’s crumbling infrastructure usable. Texas is now led by the most corrupt, ignorant, and incompetent party in Texas history, and Briscoe Cain exemplifies everything that’s wrong with Texas. It ain’t pretty.
corrupt, ignorant, incompetent.
those are the kind of people most Texas voters seem to want in public offices. Probably because those kind of politicians reflect the average Texas voter.
1Briscoe and the three women to his left and behind him are the whitest people I’ve ever seen. “Did you know that?” “Nooo….”
2What a moron.
The confederate surrender puppies and Quack-a-Non culties have merged into the QOP. It is no longer the GOP. When Liz Darthette Cheney isn’t sufficiently conservative, it is over, stick a fork in them, done. Dry your tears, Bobby Jindal. The Party of Stupid has chosen.
El Jefe, wth was Mort Blackwell thinking? Prior to the dotard, Mort raised and trained who he wanted in the RNC. He cannot be happy with the emerging cultists like Cain. Can he?
3Is is just me or does Briscoe Cain sound like a made -up name? One suited more for a Magic Mike dancer than the Texas lege.
He looks like the grown-up version of the boy who was always shoved into lockers in 8th grade. Now that he has some power he’s gonna flex it — and he doesn’t care who he hurts. He’s gonna make **everyone** pay for his being humiliated in 8th grade.
4Briscoe Cain would probably be surprised Confederate statues didn’t honor heroes, but people who supported slavery. Even killed for it.
5As Nick Carraway wrote the other day, “they say the quiet part out loud.” Different state but same camouflaged (they think) racist voting laws. Some are probably truly ignorant of what’s in their big lie legislation, but it’s all about white power voting. It’s their “gerrymandering” of the voting process. They know how democrats and many minorities voted, and this is going on in so many (most) blood red states controlled by repugnanticans.
6Repugnant.
E J: Good story with bios illustrating how politically callous fungus and crabgrass win their little toadstools to perch on. After a certain amount of kvetching, “purity of the ballot box” was taken out of the bill, leaving only all the other rot in. But it will not be forgotten… “just like old times there are not…”
7Brilliant take down. Sadly this moron, Briscoe, is incapable of learning.
8I was surprised to read he has a law degree. I guess history is no longer required in college!
9Is that his real name or did he just combine the names from his favorite TV shows, ‘Briscoe County’ and ‘Kung Fu’ ?
10Grandma Ada @ 9, Louis Gohmert and a number of QOP covidiots like A-butt, Cornyn and other morons have law degrees. Sleepy Ben was once a respected neurosurgeon…
It appears that conservatism is a serious brain disease that can’t be educated out of a QOP politician or voter.
11OT ~No restart yet for pipeline shut by cyberattack, gasoline prices climb
Edit: Colonial Pipeline said it had no estimate on when it could restart the 5,500-mile pipeline that it shut Friday after a cyberattack.
Edit:Colonial also confirmed that hackers used ransomware to shut down its internal computer business networks. The company shut down the systems that control the pipeline as a precaution, and it has brought in third-party cybersecurity firms and is trying to restore its IT system, the Georgia-based company said.

I knew it, I knew it, I knew it! The best days of Briscoe’s life came when he was in high school…
Not surprising, considering that’s the case for nearly all members of the NSGOP.

The most horrific thing, Briscoe and his lovely wife Bergundi have spawned, four times.
This Texas Monthly article is interesting and not very flattering “Briscoe Cain Has Proved Ineffectual at Chairing the House Elections Committee. So Why Does He Have the Job? ” https://www.texasmonthly.com/news-politics/briscoe-cain-elections-committee/
14Briscoe Cain. As many middle school students exclaim nowadays
15“sheeeesh, what a maroon.” If that doesn’t sound like a made up name for a faux tough guy private eye television series I never heard one. The democrat who was questioning him was perfect! I thought ol’ Briscoe was going to start crying at the end. I am so glad I live in Oregon. I’m sorry for customers of this fantastic salon who need to live in Texas because this state rivals Florida for absolute madness in RWNJ politicians.
I’m guessing I’m not the only one that considered the possibility/probability that he in fact knew exactly what “purity of the ballot box” meant. He was embarrassed to be called out like that, but likely quickly asserted that being labeled stupid was far better than being labeled racist.
The dead giveaway was his mention of studying the 1875 law. No one could go into an in depth study of such a law without stumbling onto the facts of the phrase or what they were trying to do back then. He just ran into the brilliant combination of someone that knew what he was doing and wasn’t willing to let him get by with his crap.
