Bottomless Dumb
Sometimes I think Republicans have hit rock bottom in dumb.
Republican congressvarmints, who I remind you are still receiving a paycheck, are truly concerned about government workers who are not receiving a paycheck.
To demonstrate this concern, a Republican congressman from New Mexico has a suggestion he posted on Facebook.
Yeah, and now that usury is perfectly legal, everybody wins — the rich congressman, the rich short term lender, the … well, not the government worker. But, everybody else wins and that’s what counts!
By the way, once Pearce sobered up, he took it off Facebook.
Thanks to Andrew and RM for the heads up.
Or they could just borrow $20K from their parents. That would be Mitten’s advice.
1Exactly what I told my wife, Cheryl. It’s what George would’ve done for Mitt. Well, maybe with stock certs rather than cash.
2we actually have a terrific woman running against him…Roxanne Lara…..she’s worth sending a few bucks to….although you have your hands full there!! She ran, but lost recently for the head of the Dem Party….got lots of name recognition and exposure.
3Pearce is wealthy oil and gas guy.
He can’t do the job of meeting the government’s financial and moral obligations that he was elected for, but he presumes to offer financial counseling to all the federal employees he’s screwing over. The guy is a mental degenerate.
4Not all of the furloughed employees could either get or repay a loan. Many of them are the janitorial and maintenance, lawn staff who make close to minimum wage. Even clerks who make more (a little) than minimum wage still live paycheck to paycheck. Banks do not loan money to people who do not have the resources to repay. However, if you are a multi-millionaire, the fact that some of these employees may lose their apartments, car(if they have one) and destroy their credit rating because of this disaster they have foisted upon us, is just beyond their comprehension.
5If I was a government employee on furlough, I would have immediately tweeted Congressman Pearce, thanked him for his advice, and asked him how much he could loan me – – as he voted to take my paycheck and keep his own.
6Rick is right on target. Put your money where your big mouth is, Pearce, and do you your job for a change.
7Willard just received permission from San Diego to tear down the 3000 sq foot house he recently bought and replace it with an 11,000 sq ft mansion. He also bought side by side paces with stables in Utah plus a large cabin so he could spy on his new properties. Maybe he should lend laid-off workers some money at usurious interest rates,of course.
8If republicans didn’t have hypocrisy they’d have no values at all. “We won’t let the Fed Gov’t increase the debt ceiling but you furloughed employees just go into debt to get by.”
9You don’t want me to start using the kind of language I’m tempted to use, going back to the cuts aka “the sequester” awhile back. That was before they just flat shut stuff down. Exactly how do they figure folks are going to pay the increased mortgages, taxes, utility bills, all that stuff? I forget now. Did we decide we were gonna call all this “the coup” or not? I’m gonna go get a cuppa something.
10Before I forget, see if you can find a way to reach your legislators and tell them NO YOU DO NOT WANT THE SENATE TO FAST TRACK THE TRANS PACIFIC PARTNERSHIP, unless you have relatives in Viet Nam who need jobs.
Now Pearce wouldn’t happen to own any banks, S&Ls, or have major donors from either, would he?
11Steve Pearce – another magnificent example of insufficient diversification.
12AlanInAustin, I was wondering exactly the same thing. Pearce’s message looks almost exactly like an advertisement.
13e platypus onion, you neglected to mention that Mittens’ new mansion (doesn’t he have enough of them already?) really will have a “car elevator.”
And I’m sure we’re all so happy for him.
14If I had a car elevator, it would go through the roof of my one story house and take my car all the way to heaven. I have forbidden my car to go to heaven yet.
15He’s not dumb – just hateful. Surprised he didn’t recommend a bank he has stock in or gets contributions from.
16Well, I guess he thinks that the federal employees should raise their own personal debt ceilings rather than default.
17Pearce is the only rethuglican congressweasel whose district lies along the U.S./Mexico border. Makes him an expert on foreign affairs cuz he can see Mexico from his place.
18Thank you for that JJ. I copied and pasted it for future reference. If anyone in the future asks me for an example of hubris, I’ve got it.
19Time to check and see if Pearce has received contributions from payday lenders.
20Congressman Randy NEugebauer sits on the House Banking and Finance Committee… gets lots of contributions from PACs at banks and other financial entities his committee allegedly supervises. Bet this NM Congresscritter took some lessons from Neugiebooger on how to pay back favors.
