Blue Tsunami?

January 17, 2018 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

In rural Wisconsin last night, a Democratic challenger for a state house seat in a special election stunned everybody by winning.  She was running in a district that Trump won by 17 points.

She was outspent thanks to the Koch Brothers, but money wasn’t the answer in this race.

Conservative talk radio host Charlie Sykes had a Twitter attack.

And Governor Scott Walker tweeted with shaky fingers.

The winning Democrat, Patty Schachtner, had a plan to win and stuck with it.

Her campaign focused not on attacking Trump but fighting the opioid crisis, improving access to health care and bringing good-paying jobs to the region. She didn’t need to talk about the president to benefit from an outpouring of progressive energy and conservative apathy.

Let’s hope some other Democrats listen.  Drug crisis, health care, and job.  Stick with it.  It wins.

Thanks to everybody for the heads up.

Be social and share!

Demonizing Trump’s rhetoric merely serves to fuse his supporters more to him and each other. Good move. I am not running for office so I will stay on the low road, however.

  2. Another example of a liberal campaigning on ideas and policies that put liberals in power for decades, and not what repugnantcans have painted us as caring about, which is apologizing and atoning for the problems of minorities, lgbt’s, poor, etc. You know, folks who “deserve the situations they’re in”. In other words, she reminded the people who voted for her that Democrats are the party of the people, and not the 1%.

  3. Finding candidates as engaged and committed as Patty Schachtner may just be as difficult as staying on the points of “Drug crisis, health care, and jobs.”

  4. Every election where the Democratic candidate has actually stood for something, they won.
Every election where the Democratic candidate ran as “not as bad as the other guy” they lost.
Evidently the national party leadership needs a good whomping with the clue-by-four.

  5. The American people overwhelmingly support the Democratic Party Platform. Now if we can just get a candidate to run in EVERY race that will focus on those core values/principles who is willing to work towards them. Then we have to remember those two rules…
    Rule 1: Have a Message.
Rule 2: To quote Jedi Master, Lucas, ”Stay on Target”

One more thing, take nothing for granted, work like there are no polls and always remember, the Russians are coming!

  6. They’re not “losing” their constituents. They’re running them off in droves, and let’s hope they stay too stupid to see the obvious.

Wow. Paint it on the walls of your house. Put it on magnetic signs on your car. Write it on your golf hat. I guess I’m still scared of thermonuclear war and those cute little nuclear bombs that only kill like 100,000 instead of a whole state/country.

  8. Drug crisis – Not a wake up call for Republicans in Wisconsin
Health care – Not a wake up call for Republicans in Wisconsin Jobs – Not a wake up call for Republicans in Wisconsin

Democrats win a district – Scott Walker says WAKE UP Republicans

  9. Eat it, Snot Wanker. Wisconsonites with a brain hate what Gov. Koch has done to their state. He’s up for election to term #3 this year. Tear him apart folks, limb from limb!
