Welcome to The World's Most Dangerous Beauty Salon, Inc.
My name is Susan DuQuesnay Bankston. I live in Richmond, Texas, in the heart of Tom DeLay's old district. It's nuttier than squirrel poop here.
I am honored and privileged to know Miss Juanita Jean Herownself, hairdresser extraordinary and political maven. Since she does not have time to fiddle with this internet stuff, I type her website for her and you can read it if you want to. If you don't, she truly does not give a big bear's butt.
A lot of what I post here has to do with local politics, but you probably have the same folks in your local government.
This ain't a blog. Blogs are way too trendy for me. This is a professional political organization.
Thanks Fenway Fran! Happy Holidays to you and everyone, hope y’all have some festive fun!
11950 Post War stuff – communists were considered to be everywhere – Hoover and his actual “minions” – the legislator who swore he had a list of enemies of this country, including those already working all through goverrnment – yup, he had all kinds of proof – and on and on with the movement of trains full of folks trying to escape Jim Crow south for better jobs, homes and even some education in places like Chicago and so on. It looked, sounded and sometimes smelled like THE END had arrived but somehow enough of us survived. Ike became President and pointed out negative effects resulting from appointees and even exceptionally wealthy industrialists impacting life via government. Yet we made it into the succreeding decades. Yup. That’s right. We have that kind of talent. Various parts of public and even private life got better. Heck, we even went to the moon! As screwed up as things looked, we actually made progress. Nows the time to remember what Tiny Tim said about blessing us one and all. Merry Christmas. Happy? maybe “Better” New Year no matter what fate throws at us. See you in 2025!
2Fran, thanks for raising our spirits every week.
3Merry Christmas all.
Thanks for this, Fran! Herblock was prescient, wasn’t he? That cartoon is exactly appropriate for us today.
Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukah to all the clients of the Salon.
