Ben Explaining Joe Biden to His Parents
Ben is in first grade and this conversation took place earlier this week in the car.
You can listen here.
BEN: I miss Joe Biden.
DAD: Where did you see Joe Biden?
BEN: In a magazine.
DAD: In a magazine?
BEN: In a voting magazine.
MOM: In a voting magazine. What do you like about him?
BEN: Well, I just like him.
DAD: What do you think is cool about him?
BEN: That he’s good at being president.
MOM: You think he’ll be good at being president?
BEN: Yes.
MOM: What did Katy (Mom’s friend) tell you about him? Remember?
BEN: That he likes grandmas.
MOM: He likes grandmas.
BEN: And I like grandmas, too. (Pause) Donald Trump does not like grandmas.
MOM: Probably not.
BEN: He doesn’t like Gigi …
BOTH MOM AND DAD: No. Definitely not. (Laughter)
MOM: Do you?
BEN: I do.
(Pause and then Ben picks it up again.)
BEN: I don’t like Donald Trump, though. He is mean … and evil. He likes people who are evil.
.
I am blessed to live in a family that are all Democrats, including my brother and both his children.
Have a great weekend and call somebody to vote. Grandmas are counting on you.
Aww…Ben sounds adorable and very smart.
1That is so sweet! I miss my Raleigh grandson so much.
2The Carroways have one daughter. She hisses every time we drive by a Trump sign. It would be adorable if it weren’t for the fact that she’s almost 14. Apparently, she has been getting into arguments with other students at school. So many children just parrot back what their parents say. One said her father thought that going without a mask was funny. Yup, super spreading is hilarious.
3The saying “kids say the darndest things” needs to be changed to “Kids speak the truth”. My kind of family!
4Ben for President 2060!
5Ben for President 2050! USSC Justice 2021, or if he wants to stay closer to home, he could start as Governor of Texas tomorrow. Add up age and IQ points, and Ben surpasses the past 2 governors and current gub combined by at least 100 points. You’d need to go back to Ann Richards to find one as witty as Ben.
6That is adorable!!
7My grandson when he sees Trump on TV says, “he’s a bad man, a very bad man”.
These kids are our future.
Awww! Reach out and give Ben a hug for this grannie!
8I can leave this world happily. All my 5 grandchildren are Demos.
9When a first grader understands, and sincerely recognizes the importance of grandmas as a critical aspect in voting, that gives me hope for a better America.
10That really is adorable.
11I’m guessing Gigi to Ben is J.J. to us.
Which explains Mom and Dad’s laughter when Ben points out that trump doesn’t like her.
Our nephew called last night and told us his 6yo daughter said “Mr. Trump is a Knucklehead”. She asked her dad if he voted for “the other guy”. He assured her he was voting for the other guy. The next day she came home from her school pod and knew Joe Biden’s name. Hope for the future.
12We knew he was a smartie! That Ben is something else, but then He’s a Bankston. And he gets an extra boost of smartie from his momma.
13Little kids generally have an excellent Seventh Sense about things and people. Sometimes they manage to keep that gift as they grow up and it helps them make good, smart choices. Others, though, devolve into sarcasm and even sadism.
14If Ben ever needs a third Grandma, I’d like to be nominated. Such a sweetie!
15Upon watching TV, my kindergarten granddaughter said that she doesn’t like that baby mouth man. I can’t agree more.
16What a precious reminder and keepsake of this story for sure. I think you should send it to VP Joe when he becomes president with a pic of Ben…perfect…Ben’s got it!
