Because You Helped

October 02, 2014 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

I’ve asked you for money twice this election season and you came through both times.  First for the online ballot by mail request program for the Texas Democratic Party.  And then again for the mailing of ballot by mail applications.

I want to give you an update but I don’t have all the numbers yet for the entire state.  I can, however, give you some rough numbers for my own county.  Four years ago, we had 400 people vote by mail.  We have just passed 4,200 ballot by mail requests from people identified as Democrats.  I am told that is happening all across Texas.  You helped make that happen.

We are still doing chase calls of those people who got our mailing to make sure they mail it back to get a ballot.  We get the nicest people on the phone who thanks us profusely for the application.

It’s worked and I thank you.  I’ll have better numbers for you soon.

(I’ll ask you for a donation again next week but it will stay with my local party.  So don’t go on any shopping sprees this weekend.)

  1. Congrats! Keep up the good work! Though I no longer live in Texas, I can’t think of a better project for my home state!

    Great news!
I have to say my purse is getting flat from all the people I have been donating to. But I’ll save some bucks for next week, this project gets so much cluck per buck!

I’m soooo tired of dancing nekkid on tables because of you guys giving money for ballots by mail.

Next election, I think I’ll stick to slow dances in honky tonks.

We send out all those applications and every one had a “help line” phone number on it. Well, I’m the helper. I’ve talked to thousands (no exaggeration) of seniors who needed assistance. Filled out another 750+ applications over the phone.

    Best one yet:

Voter: I need an application to vote by mail.
Glen: Give me your name and address.
    Voter: (Gives information) AND HURRY
Glen: We have plenty of time to get it done.
Voter: Not when you’re 103 years old like me. HURRY.
