Because They Have Trademarked That Word

April 16, 2013 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

Texas Republican Congressvarmint Steve Stockman, who is neck and neck with Louie Gohmert for the Crazziest Guy in Congress, is bellerin’ and pawing at the dirt over one of Wolf Blitzer’s comments on the teevee yesterday.

On CNN, Blitzer noted that the explosions occurred on April 15, saying, “It is a state holiday in Massachusetts today called Patriots’ Day, and who knows if that had anything at all to do with these explosions.”

Well, that’s just not allowed.  Stockman tweeted ….

“Wolf Blitzer should immediately apologize. The mainstream media once again exploit killings to attack political opponents.”

Uh, Steve, Patriot’s Day is the third Monday in April and it celebrates the anniversary of the Battles of Lexington and Concord on April 19, 1775.

Uh, Steve, you don’t get to own the rights to the word patriot, man, American, day, or even Christmas.  However, if Wolf ever refers to ignorant exhibitionist, that would be you.  You own that one.

Boy Howdy, I’m wondering if he’s going to pitch a fit over the New England Patriots losing a football game.

Thanks to Brian C for the heads up.

  1. Stupid Steve is giving Loony Louie a run for his money.

  2. Braxton Braggart says:

Steve Stockman used to be my representative. His DC office received a mysterious fax from some militia group just prior to the Oklahoma City bombing. In the aftermath he turned it over to the FBI, and (as far as I know) the implications of that — and why he, of all 435 members of the House, received that fax — got muddled and blurred in the subsequent investigation.

But the larger point here is that that happened on April 19, 1995. The OKC bombing is generally linked to the destruction of the Branch Davidian compound n Waco, but it’s also the anniversary of the Battles of Lexington and Concord, which is a landmark on the calendar for the right-wing militia movement, who see themselves as modern-day Minutemen.

We don’t know yet what individuals or groups are behind the attack in Boston, but Steve Stockman damn well knows the significance of the date, and that it has been the focus of home-grown terrorists before.

Dear Lord, please make the stupid stop.

  4. Once again, the hard core crazies have misread all the signals.
Blitzer stated a fact and it was immediately interpreted as an attack on the Tea Party, because they are the true Patriots, or so they say.
Wait for Michelle Bachmann to chime in on this one. It’s her kind of crazy.

Well, not to repeat my previous post, but the confluence of all these events, including that it was Tax Day, is very suggestive.

  6. Maybe he should ask Jerry Jones to rename the Dallas Cowboys the United States of America Patriots and sue Robert Kraft (Patriots owner) for use of the name.

He’s at least crazy enough to do it.

  7. Maryelle, I just remembered, there was this crazy woman who said she wanted Americans to be armed and dangerous, let me see, now who was it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  8. Corinne Sabo says:

Is it something in the water, Steve, or were you born this way and have gotten worse?

  9. Kay Carrasco says:

Oh, never mind Michelle Bachman, I wanna hear Sarah Palin’s take on this one. She of the deep and brilliant expertise on early American history…..

Joan,Sharon Angle from NV said we have to invoke “2nd Amendment remedies” in this country!

  12. Okie-Dokie says:

Conservatives have the notion that they own patriotism. How many of them actually served in the military, willingly pay taxes and try to make this a better society for everyone?

This is America. We take care of our seniors and don’t let them retire in poverty. We have no problem paying taxes to educate someone else’s children. We don’t punish someone for being poor.

  13. David in Houston says:

Patriots…in liberal heathen Massachusetts!! Home of a black governor, Harvard, and Elizabeth Warren! Oh goodness gracious, heaven forbid. Only a tobaccey-chewin’ NASCAR-racin’ gun-totin’ good old boy can possibly be a true Amurican Patriot®.

  14. My #1 rule of modern US politics is that anybody self-identifying as a “patriot” is most likely a nativist, censorious nitwti.
