Because They Don’t Love Freedom

September 15, 2013 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

The owner of the iconic image which depicts three firefighters raising an American flag over the rubble of the World Trade Center are jumping mad that Sarah Palin, who believes in the free marketplace, flat out stole their picture.

So, they sued her patootie.

“It’s important to enforce our copyright on this iconic photo,” Jennifer Borg, general counsel of the North Jersey Media Group, told CNN. “When neither Ms. Palin nor her PAC responded to our demand letter to remove the photo, we were left with no choice but to seek redress through the courts.”

I know this is Barack Obama’s or Katie Couric’s fault but they haven’t figured out how yet.  Probably witchcraft.

Thanks to David for the heads up and John for the graphic.

  1. Years ago, I had an annoying person in my life act like what’s mine is hers and what’s hers is hers.

I think the quitter from Wasilla is somehow related to the annoying person from years past in that Palin didn’t worry about who actually owns the rights to the famous photo before selfishly using it for her own fundraising.

I hope Palin gets hung out to dry by the legal process for ignoring copyright law. If that DOES come to pass, I’ll buy the popcorn and pass it around here in the beauty parlor my very own self.

  2. I betcha she doesn’t even KNOW about copyright. Folks still tell me that oh, it doesn’t matter if you (copy a movie onto a DVD, make copies of a music CD, use a picture of a painting, whatever) if you aren’t making money from it. I know it used to be legal to use a SMALL SEGMENT of an item for EDUCATIONAL PURPOSES. I haven’t sniffed around copyright in a long time.

  3. Elsie, I’ll send you coupons to purchase the popcorn at a discount! I can’t eat it. LOL!

  4. A couple of years ago, Sarah Palin trademarked her name and her daughter Bristol’s in order to protect their “brand”:

So, Palin is well aware of copyright infringement, and she has no excuse for using the flag photo without permission.

As we say: “I still blame McCain”.

  5. So typical of the Sock Puppet! She has to learn everything the damn hard way and then most of the time it doesn’t take!

  6. Isn’t it strange how Republicans have so little respect for the property rights of others?

Of course, copyrights are classified as intellectual property – and we all know how unAmerican those darn intellectuals are…

Someone directed me to a nutty FB page where there was a whole thread about what a wonderful president Palin would make (she wasn’t born in Kenya seems to be her greatest accomplishment). I made a post questioning their sanity and when I went back the post was removed and I was blocked from posting. These people revel in their ignorance.

I’ve always referred to them as “Proudly Ignorant!” Thanks for the post Susan, er, Juanita.

  9. Sarah Palin and her daughter got a trademark for their names?! Well, we all oughta get I LOVE JUANITA JEAN’S BEAUTY SALON T shirts and get them trademarked.

    9
  10. Of course Sarah is against theft.

She is simply following the old Republican tradition of “Do as I say, not as I do.”

  11. Spot on, LynnN.
This is a woman who does not take “No” for an answer. She has Oppositional Defiance Disorder. (ODD)

  12. Marge: I couldn’t blow up to poster size or reprint the article from Texas Monthly about the Castro Brothers and Wendy Davis… cover was the 3 of them, said “Game On”, due to copyright laws. We contacted them, they said no. They magnanimously offered us copies of the article at $2.50 each. Our booth budget couldn’t handle that.

Miss Sarah could be in deep kaka. I hope she drowns.

Their first application failed because Obama gave them invisible ink to sign their names and of course their names disappeared and they were forced to sweat out signing their monikers in crayon.

  14. @Marge: I would happily by one of those “I LOVE JUANITA JEAN’S BEAUTY SALON T shirts”. If anyone wants to sell them, hopefully JJ will arrange the permissions, copyrights, etc. Isn’t Bubba a lawyer?
