Because They Are Rich Old White Men

Living in Texas and knowing some Dream Kids, this scares me and makes me want to cry.

There are stringent requirements to be a Dreamer.  First, they must be “of good moral character,” which would eliminate most members of congress.

Be social and share!

  1. Fortunately, the Senate is likely to kill this, and the President doesn’t have to sign it, even if it passes both houses. We can still have hope!

I’m afraid crying was not my first reaction to this BS. I hope the Hispanic fraction of our society is paying attention to this charade and decides to vote in its own best interest instead of furthering the Dominionista version of the morality police!!

  3. “There are stringent requirements to be a Dreamer. First, they must be “of good moral character,” which would eliminate most members of congress.”

    ¡¡¡¡¡¡JONRON!!!!!

    3
  4. This is going nowhere. It will most likely die in the Senate and the President will definitely not sign it if it gets to him.

The Rethugs reaction is gut spilling sick!!!! According to my research this is what the KKK and their ilk did (cheer) when they lynched someone.

    God forgive us!

  5. The House passes a lot of crap which is “expected to die in the Senate.”

This is why the predictions that the GOP may get a Senate majority in November scare me (spit)less.

  6. Dianne in PA says:

Next they will be passing a resolution to remove the plaque at the Statue of Liberty. Claiming, “Bring me your poor, your tired, your huddled masses …”, is some Commie Pinko Kenyan plot, they will replace it with, “I got mine.”
Somewhere their immigrant fore bearers are deeply ashamed.
Is there anything more anti-American than the Tea Party?

  7. Ralph Wiggam says:

Yes, that’s sad. But the Republicans are digging their own grave. And that requires slinging a lot of dirt. It takes a big hole to bury an elephant.

  8. Kathy in Humble says:

I went thrift-store shopping in The Woodlands with my 19 month old grand-daughter yesterday.
There was a Hispanic family in the shop with I think 5 kids, from a baby half Nora’s size to a girl that could have been 9 or 10. Nora had just started to fuss in the stroller, no matter how many distractions I gave her. I was going to have to leave, but then the kids started talking to her and playing with her, and she was having a great time, so I was able to dig through the bin of swimsuits and find her two really cute ones, and look at a few other things.
An elderly very well dressed lady held the door for me (and Nora’s stroller) when we were leaving. I thanked the woman for holding the door and she leaned in and half-whispered, “You know, those children who were playing with your baby? They looked like they had just come from Central America, didn’t they?”
I said, “Um… I guess? But probably not, since they spoke perfect English.” I take it back – she wasn’t a lady, just a hateful old woman. The children were so polite, only arguing over whose turn it was to push their baby sister. They were also quite well-dressed – I’d say even a bit preppy and overly dressy for a trip to a thrift store. At least they were wearing shoes. Nora had taken hers off, as usual, and I’d tucked them behind her in the seat. 😉
It wasn’t the first time the woman been rude. When I was checking out, she reached in front of me to the cashier and handed her a blouse, saying “Put this over there(pointing to a pile of boxes out of reach from the cash register). I want it. I just need to go to my car and get my wallet.”
The mom and grandmother of the kids had said a couple of times, “You leave that baby alone,” and I’d told them it was fine with me, that Nora was really liking their attention. The kids even talked to me a couple of times, calling Nora “your baby.” They all took a turn petting her hair. I think they were fascinated by her very fine blond hair. 🙂
I guess I was supposed to worry about “disease” instead of enjoying watching Nora interact and giggle with other children.

  9. Why anybody with even half a brain would vote Republican is a mystery to me. Those
hateful hypocrites should be rounded up and shipped to Guantanamo for crimes against
humanity. If this little trick doesn’t alienate every minority group, women and humanitarians, nothing will. They are attempting to roll back the clock, undo everything accomplished in President Obama’s term, America be da*#ed.

    9
  10. They are trying to roll it back a lot further than Obama.

Folks, remember one thing: every time a Repub acts like the bigoted hater they are, another Democrat is born.

Stole this and used it in my email to my Congressman, Chris Collins. Thanks.

    12
  13. And now I’ve read that the Texas National Guard is prepared to deal with the Mexican Drug Cartel at the border. Can anyone clarify [meaning “make sense of”] this?!

  15. Brought to you by the party that lost the Hispanic vote a while back. Forget rebranding– they’ve just decided to burn down the house, forgetting the humans inside it.

Happily there is a firewall against their hate and insanity.

  16. JAKvirginia says:

I’ve lived in the D.C area for almost 50 years. As a child, our class went to 17th and Constitution Ave., NW, to tour the Pan American Union Building. The focus of the Pan American Union is to foster political and economic cooperation between North and South America.

If one takes the time to do even the most casual research about America’s relationship with its western hemisphere neighbors, the facts are sobering. Panama, Cuba, Chile, Venezuela, El Salvador, Mexico, etc. have all felt the arrogance and incompetence of our foreign policy. Cuba is villified for being Communist but it was our policies which pushed them in that direction. The Canal Zone? For all intent and purposes we just took it — for the best of reasons, of course. /snark/

In short, America has been and continues to be a lousy neighbor, not only to those countries to our south, but I’m sure, Canada as well. The Canadians might have a few opinions of the USA which would raise some eyebrows in this country. But try to get any conservative to be open to any negative assessment of America and our “exceptionalism”.

    16
  17. Republicans always cheer and clap when something stupid, horrible or destructive occurs.

    17
  18. Polite Kool Marxist says:

Inbred expletives deleted old fossils will be going the way of the French aristocracy – extinct. Can’t happen fast enough.

JAKvirginia, spot on. Our problems are of our own making through failed, failed and failed foreign policy. When Einstein wrote his theory of insanity, “doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results,” he described the GOP economic and foreign policy ‘plans.’

Living with the stupid isn’t easy, but this latest round of abject cruelty should be enough to inspire everyone to vote in 2014. Out with the bums and a little looking into cancelling their lifetime of freebies. If they want to point fingers at moochers, the next session of Congress would be a good vantage point.

  19. Holly Andrews says:

Alas, the Republicans have no shame. Their callous behavior makes me weep for our future–and continue to campaign for sane and compassionate Dems.

    19
  20. Marcia in CO says:

This is just so despicable it leaves me speechless!!

    20
  21. Sigh… Let’s face it you can’t reason or debate with unreasonable people. When you claim to want a solution to any problem, make a huge deal out of fixing said problem, then do nothing but complain nothing is being done to address the big deal. Then blame the other side for at least trying? I just don’t know anymore.

    21
  22. To quote my sainted father from 1964: “Know what I like aboot Republicans?” Me: “No Dad, whut???” “Not a damned thing.”

    50 years and nothing’s changed!

    22
  23. One can only hope that, at this point, groups like LULAC, and individual Hispanics are taking names. By November they should be “kicking a**”. As we all should.

    23
  24. gabberflasted says:

For the most part, Republicans in Congress and many outside same look upon Lazerus’ poem and the PLAQUE commemorating same as ‘PLAGUE.’

When you die, you do not know you are dead. It is painful only to the living.
The same is true of the stupid.

  25. Marge Wood says:

Imagine being Joaquin Castro and having to be around that every day.

    25
  26. Miss Prissybritches says:

Maybe the Dominionist Bible doesn’t have the verse, “Jesus wept.”

    26
  27. You know…it’s those buzzards who need deporting. Moral character? None. Religious values? None. Honesty? None.

    27
  28. Remember, good patrons of the WMDBS, it’s not just Republican’ts who elect rightwing nutjobs to Congress (along with their best bud, Gerry Mandering). It’s Democrats and Independents who STAY HOME for primaries and generals. GOTV!!

    28
  29. Aggieland liz says:

@miss prissybritches – I think the Dominionistas’ bible says “Jesus sneered.”

    29
  30. Marge Wood says:

Yes, Zyxomma, NOT voting gets nut cases elected. And yesterday I also got a heavy dose of Moral Mondays. Probably all of y’all have already seen/heard all about it. We all might want to start a chapter to counter the ALEC offspring, ACCE, the baby ALEC for cities and counties. Just what we all need: Koch bros. support for nut case laws in cities and counties. Aargh.

    30
  31. Good one, Liz. I think Republican Jesus is very different from the one I learned about.
