Because They Are For Life

March 10, 2021 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

Because Republicans in the Texas State House are 100% pro-life, they have come up with a solution for women who have an abortion – kill her.

A Texas lawmaker has filed a bill that would abolish and criminalize abortions, leaving women and physicians who perform the procedure to face criminal charges that could carry the death penalty.

The legislation, filed Tuesday by state Rep. Bryan Slaton, does not include exceptions for rape or incest.

The whole thing makes me want to throw up, but the second paragraph sends chills down my spine.  This is not about life, this is about ownership.

This won’t pass, but the fact that 20 Republicans voted for it the last time it came up, tells me that there are 20 men in the Texas State House who think I’m a baby machine and nothing more. Y’all, can we make stupid on government property illegal?  Come to think of it, that would solve a whole mess of problems.

How many times do we have to re-fight this battle? For as long as some men think they own women, I suppose; but that’s an attitude that needs to end quickly, not be codified into law.

  2. I think women have been finding ways to end their pregnancies since the dawn of time. I too can’t believe we are still having this fight. If you don’t believe in abortion, don’t have one. But stay the heck out of other women’s uteruses!

  3. This is a case of “be careful what you wish for.” However, as long as there are states like New York and California–you know, where abortions will remain legal and easily available to those with the funds and ability to get there–the QOP troglodytes will go along with this in Texas. After all, they have daughters who may need one (wink, wink),

And after you have the baby, don’t expect any help feeding or educating it. And healthcare, not too much. I am so sick of political posturing! We should start a pool on the scapegoat of the day!

Did anyone offer an amendment making the relevant men who “conspired” in making abortion decisions equally culpable? Or require financial responsibility from the father and a “no-fault” fund for cases with no identification of the father to ensure all children born in Texas are adequately cared for?

Grandma Ada @4, the next fictional QOP debate should be Tinky Winky redux. Maybe a $itch slap or several upside the head would knock some sense into the QOP. Or, maybe a duel with Tar Baby although they’d probably like that.

  7. John@5–that should definitely be part of any bill like this.

Given maternal death rates in this day and time, all pregnancies endanger the life of the woman.

  9. If this passed, perhaps a trap, neuter and release program for men could be initiated.

We are so for life that we will kill the mother and doctor. Indeed.

Repugnanticans are going to take women’s rights and voting rights as far to the wrong side of right as they can in 2021. Arkansas just signed into law a bill to abolish virtually all abortions with the intent to have the supremes rule to overturn Roe vs Wade. It won’t be the last red state to do so.

    #9. YES! Neuter and Release.
Allow one child, maybe, then off to the vet — oops — Then wives and girlfriends will be happier.
BTY guys, the woman in your life will probably be more interested in sex with you if you are responsible and have a vasectomy!

  14. Yep–it’s all about who owns the women. I have a peripheral acquaintance with a woman who is adamantly anti-abortion (no way these nincompoops are “pro-life”), but from what I know of her, she has been controlled by the men in her life from the beginning

But yeah, until we have a parallel law on the books that forces the father to take full responsibility for the kid, we definitely do not have “equal justice under the law.” I think either sterilization or the whole John Bobbitt treatment would be fine for any who don’t comply.

    14
  15. The states are competing to see which can come up with the most brutish law, not because they think they’ll succeed but in the hopes that they will get kicked up to the SCOTUS where abortion will be outlawed again.

Then Republicans will get what they want. Not in a court but on a motel room floor.

  16. Thought Republicants took their Mistresses across County Lines to have an abortion ?
