Because That’s What Fox News Tells Them
The Washington Post seems surprised to discover that 53% of Americans think the economy is in worse shape now than it was when President Obama took office.
To be very very clear here, in January 2009, when Obama was sworn in, the nation’s unemployment rate hovered at 7.6 percent. It went up. Then it went down. Today, it sits at 5 percent.
Using charts and graphs, the Washington Post comes to the same conclusion I did without charts and graphs. Republicans believe what they are told and they are told that the black guy is a bad president and probably a Muslim Isis sympathizer.
I have to admit that I have enjoyed watching the President hit back a little by making fun of them. He seems to be enjoying it, too.
Even worse is the unrestrained fear and loathing of others that McClatchy revealed in
http://www.mcclatchydc.com/news/nation-world/national/article45633798.html
Fox Nooz and their Republicans stooges have done their job well.
1My sister HATES Obama. I have never seen anyone so angry at a politician. He has ‘ruined my healthcare for his own benefit, we are a laughingstock across the globe, he hates Christians, and he is evil.’ Now, she had a basic basic plan that covered nothing. She is self-employed. Now she pays a couple hundred a month, has good coverage, and still tells my mom that “I will have to pay every time I need a doctor, and that won;t count toward my deductible, and if I go out of business I have to repay all the subsidies that the taxpayers gave me!!” Boo hoo..see all the Fox talking points in there? She admits she watches them. It’s disgusting. She has a college degree and not a lick of common sense. But I don’t think she votes!
2President Obama has a “B”uck-it List. He imagines it as a large shiny pail that he places over their heads and beats with a stick, until their empty heads ring.
3Don’t confuse me with facts. I have my mind made up.
4My father was around when the Wright brothers took to the air, fought in two wars, and watched men walk on the moon. I just want to live at least a year longer (81+). I’ve seen the first black man elected POTUS, fought in one war, and now I want to see the first female POTUS. I’ll be happy to go then. It’ll be fun.
5It gets confusing sometimes when less is more. Lower unemployment means more jobs? Ouch, my head hurts! What does it all mean Fox News? Tell me, tell me.
6Actually, I kind of understand the feeling. Obama took office a long time ago, and people have forgotten just how terribly bad it was. Right now, though, new jobs may be available, but many are nothing like as good as the ones people lost, and they’re less secure; Social Security isn’t giving a cost-of-living raise this year, despite increases in the prices of pretty much everything people buy except gasoline; medical insurance and medication have both increased in price; and media keep carrying on about how much better the economy is, when it doesn’t feel better for a whole lot of people. What with Faux News and political hate speech encouraging them, a lot of people feel justified in their anti-Obama, anti-Democratic, anti-immigrant misery.
7I have an 82 year old friend who hasn’t lost her ability to think, but she’s going to vote snacilbupeR because that’s what she’s always done. The knowledge that her Medicare and Social Security will definitely be threatened by a snacilbupeR House, Senate and executive doesn’t faze her. I don’t talk much politics with her because there’s simply no point. She made up her mind with Eisenhower.
8Yesterday on NPR they mentioned that California had over 40,000 new jobs filled last month. Bet you won’t hear that on Fox, but hopefully X-gov pRick heard.
9Harry Booker, please stick around for the fun. Whether we have a woman as POTUS or a Democratic Socialist, the schadenfreude will be fun. I’m anticipating HRC will select one of the Castro brothers as her running mate. Four years of a woman followed by 8 years of a Hispanic should implode the GOP.
Alternatively, who would Senator Sanders select as a running mate? Possibly one of the Castro brothers, or maybe several of the wonderful young Democratic women available.
Harry Booker, at 80, you are a ‘young puppy.’ If she wasn’t a married woman, HRC might consider you as a running mate.
10The GOP convinced people that “All Democrats Lie”–therefore the claims of lower unemployment are lies…(because the jobs aren’t as good, for the reasons we know but cannot get across to the mind-made-up crowd.) Obama’s a liar, Hillary’s a liar because…”All Democrats Lie”. Added to “women aren’t as reliable as men” and “women lie about rape” and “all black people lie to keep out of jail.”
So MANY people need re-education, but still they do have a right to be stupid. I just wish they’d do it somewhere else.
This afternoon our adult autistic son and I were talking and he said his government class required him to watch a Republican and a Democratic debate. I asked him what he thought of the Republican debate. He has some speech problems but there was “That Ted Cruz lost his temper and looked really silly” and “They all said about the same thing.” I asked what he thought about the refugee situation: “We should help them.” With a look that meant “What did you THINK I would say?”
Now granted, he grew up in our house and attends an Episcopal Church in Austin TX nearly every Sunday, so his enculturation has been liberal and old-line traditional Christian, not this newfangled prosperity gospel and hate the infidel….brown stuff you don’t want to step in. But he’s not a parrot; he’s got his own opinions and can state them. (IOW, he has told one or both of us he disagrees on something from time to time.)

The f***-it list, for me, following quickly behind the bucket list. The latter defines things I must do, mostly for myself, before I die. The former lists things which I will never, ever concern myself again. One gets shorter from time to time. The other gets longer every day. This is a function of aging I think for someone not in the public eye. For our President, I think his f***-it list is part and parcel of his lame duckness since winning re-election. He deserves, has earned, both lists, im<ho.
12Fox is owned by Rupert Murdoch the Australian media mogul and 5% of it is owned by Prince Al-Waleed Talal (Saudia Arabia) and Roger Ailes was a former Republican Party Media Consultant (worked with Richard Nixon) is the founding CEO of Fox. Fox must have a professional psychiatrist working for them who specializes in brain washing techniques. Fox is great at doing this as they have succeeded in producing voters who go to the polls like Stepford Wives, automatically pushing the R button like Robots. It is amazing that these people so loyally protect and recite the non facts and opinions spewed out by the Anchors even though what they hear can not stand up to scrutiny. These followers can not look at the facts and I often wonder why they do not try to analyze the backgrounds of the hierarchy and wonder what is the true agenda. Hopefully the reality of what they represent will come to break the spell and make them realize they need to vote responsibly. If not, we will have a mad man running the country.
13Despite loads of proof that Barack Obama has been an amazingly competent President with intelligence and integrity,
14repugnicans continue to prove that they are indeed the Party of the Stupid, the Brainwashed and the Greedy.
As far as breaking the spell, as Linda Lester mentioned, I have been waiting years for the Christians (the real ones) in the GOP to take a look at the rich entitled SOBs who actually run the party and say, “Hey, wait a minute… This isn’t what Jesus wanted….” And I’m still waiting.
15Micr, when I grow up, I hope to have an iota of the charm and grace President Obama has displayed while under constant siege from the snacilbupeR. I’m still stuck at the stage where I want to gohmert punch and go gangsta on the goat molesting snacilbupeR.
When he mildly chides them as only he can with grace and good humor, they act as if he’d ordered a drone strike on their residence. Their whining makes my ears hurt.
