Because His Taxes Were Too High
Tom Foley is running for Governor of Connecticut. He’s a Republican millionaire. So, he doesn’t pay taxes. Seriously, not at all.
The most recent returns reveal that Foley paid zero percent in federal taxes for the third year in a row.
Tom Foley lives in a ten million dollar house, has a 5 million dollar yacht, and owns two airplanes. He’s paid zero taxes in the past three years.
Get this. It’s his explanation.
Foley has laughed off the governor’s criticisms, saying, “In America, if you don’t have any income, you don’t pay taxes.”
Dude, if you’re running on your business acumen and you took losses on your businesses, maybe you should run on your good looks instead.
His Democratic opponent, Gov. Dannel Malloy pays taxes.
Malloy, has released partial tax returns for the past four years, which showed he paid effective federal tax rates of 38.19 percent, 20.7 percent, 25.3 percent and 25.2 percent. In those years, the total income figures for Malloy and his wife, Cathy, were $319,912, $212,892, $303,467 and $305,534.
Remember Leona Helmsley’s “only little people pay taxes.” Well, Honey, she was an amateur.
I’m hoping that Connecticut has real estate taxes that he has to pay on the house. Or have the Libertopians taken over there and made it a sales tax only state?
1Message to Foley: every minute of every day that you live in the USA you enjoy the benefit of all the generations of hard working Americans that lived and died before you. You owe them, the current population and the future populations. Pay your taxes jerkwad. Or quietly tithe 10% of your net worth to the IRS. We’ll all sleep better at night. To those much is given, much is expected.
2Wow! They just never learn, especially when we all have experienced the ultimate jerkwadery as the 47% **ap Mitt dropped on a bunch of self-righteous 1%-ers at a dinner so special everyone thought no one would ever find out what was going on! Foley has to be on drugs or totally crazy to think that his non-payment of taxes is going to bring him lovin’ and votes!
3Even if he paid no taxes, he must have submitted his 1040 each year to show “no income” – not even interest on his investments. I fail to fathom how any billionaire can file taxes and yet not have to pay any $$$ to the IRS. Did he also receive a refund each of these three years?
I do hope the IRS is noticing this scofflaw and will audit him immediately!
4A psychologist did some studies recently and found that rich people feel more entitled, are meaner, and are more likely to cheat and exploit others. He called it the (something rhyming with glassbowl) effect. With Dubya it was referred to as “born on third base and thinks he hit a triple.”
And Foley here’s another prime example.

5Jerks like Foley would much rather pay an army of attorneys working day and night to find every loophole and write-off which ever existed, than pay a dime of tax. He probably writes off that yacht, the house the planes and of course the cars and liquor. And that’s just for starters.
6This has got to change.
