Battling Bibles

May 11, 2012 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

We have a Republican primary race for the United State senate that’s getting testy.

Now they’re hitting each other with Bibles.

Yesterday, David Dewhurst announced that Mike Huckabee endorses him

Today, Ted Cruz announced that – ta! da! – Sarah AND Todd Palin endorse him.  Must be that whole men giving the family the worldview thingy that Bristol talks about.

Palin, the 2008 GOP vice presidential nominee, and her husband, Todd, sent a letter endorsing Cruz in response to a request. “Your conservative principles, passionate defense of our Constitution and our free market system come at a time when these cornerstones of our freedom and prosperity are under attack,” she wrote.

There are 4 candidates in this race.  Most polls show Cruz in fifth place.

Thanks to David for the heads-up.

Mr. Cruz also got the endorsement of the Club For Growth PAC. I hope they pour a lot of money into his race.

  2. Cruz’s mistake was in not being American enough to anglicize his name into “cross.” The radical right would like that.

  3. I’m just stunned at the Throckmorten news…a whole county switching en masse from Democrats to Republicans. Makes me want to cry… or scream… or hit something – too bad I ain’t anywhere near this small rural West Texas community.

The Palin family hasn’t fathomed that enough is enough. Other than a few shallow thinkers living in the past, no one cares what they think. Obviously, shouting about family values, wont cut it anymore. Mr. Cruz needs a handler.

The State of Texas can be a damned big sponge for that Club for Growth money. America’s money sink for the Citizen’s United groupies. I hope they spend it all here.

  7. I’m going to have to give up television for the duration, because one more set of GOP Senate contenders lying and bragging on themselves for belt-tightening will otherwise burst my arteries.

I dunno that the Palin endorsement is anything to brag about. It seems that lately anyone she endorses goes on to lose, whether they be politicians or sports figures. Examples: she and Toad endorsed Newt, she lauded Tim Tebow and the next week Denver lost, she was spotted wearing a Jeremy Lin jersey and the next week the Knicks lost. She kind of seems like the kiss of death. I wish she would endorse Rmoney and Obama would be assured a landslide victory.

And EMoon (Elizabeth? If so, I love your books. I have all of them. Special favorite was Speed of Dark) I know what you mean about giving up television due to the constant innundation of GOP ads. Not only do we get Dewhurst and Cruz ad infinitum, ad naseum, we are also getting ones for Elizabeth Ames Jones, who’s running against incumbent Jeff Wentworth. I am so sick of all the lies that I automatically mute the sound when one of the ads comes on. I am so glad that my state Senator is Leticia Van de Putte and that she’s a Democrat.

  9. Speaking of Sarah Palin, you have to love Robert Caro’s answer to Time Magazine’s Belinda Luscombe when she asked him if he had any advice he would give to Mitt Romney concerning a running mate. Caro’s answer was as follows:

“I’m not gonna give advice to Romney. But a presidential candidate has a great responsiblity to America to pick someone who is well fitted to the role. I think John McCain’s selection of Sarah Palin is the single most irresponsible act of government I can remember.”
