Bad Toon News

Washington Post political cartoonist Ann Telnaes has resigned, after the paper refused to publish this one. I’m guessing Bezos didn’t like his portrait. Democracy does indeed die in darkness, WaPo. We here at the WMDBS are not afraid of political cartoons, but we are deeply concerned about obstacles to a free press. Follow the link to read her full statement.

Ann Telneas resignation for good cause is on all the non-corporate sites. Hope this publicity makes Bezos pay in lost subscribers and is a boon to her followers and subscriptions. I saw the light months ago. Never knowingly patronized Zuckerterd but he deserves to be forced to his knees.

  2. I think it’s funny that her cartoon has been reposted and probably viewed by more people now than would have seen it in WaPo. Take that, Bezos!

  3. Sometimes, somehow, integrity still finds an audience.

  4. Flashbacks to when Mike Royko got crosswise with the Chicago Tribune brass and took his drawing pad to the Sun Times and won Pulitzers.

  5. I started reading the WaPo as soon as I moved here in 1973–yes, just when Watergate was really heating up. I still have the paper delivered every day; but, that is getting hugely expensive and I haven’t paid the latest bill yet. I’m debating whether I should continue it or not. I’m really getting pissed off at some of the things they are doing to “save money” and really dislike some of their regular columnists.

    And, now this.

    Ain’t it the truth Fran?
Don’t remember if that top-of-the-page slogan was adopted before or after Bezos bought em out. But the fact that the Masthead TO THIS DAY, has that slogan, while deliberately, intentionally, darkening the very resource ensconced not only in the Post’s storied history, but IN THE CONSTITUTION is just kinda … Ironic to say the least.
Orwellian falls somewhere on the spectrum.
But the action of doing it is misleading to the point of being… wait for it…. Foxonian.
Yup, I just made that one up.
    To hell with it.
    Works for me.

  8. Come to think of it, there’s a fair chance somebody else already coined that one, being so frickin obvious.
    So no disrespect.
    Hugs and kisses. Peace out.
