And When The Easter Bunny Brings a Pumpkin to Christmas Dinner, Greg Abbott Will Be Ready

Okay, I’m not saying that the last damn thing on Governor Greg Abbott’s mind is the working people of Texas, but it’s gotta be way at the bottom.

Thank you, Governor Abbott, for reminding us once again that you’re an idiot and that you never served in the military.

Thanks to Elizabeth for the heads up.

  1. Labor Day/Memorial Day. Military people/working people. What’s the difference to someone that doesn’t really respect either and has nothing in common with either?

    1
  2. I wonder what he says on Veterans Day? Merry Christmas?

    2
  3. One Labor Day, we should, however, have a grateful thought for all those in uniform.

At hospitals, fast-food restaurants, police and fire departments, hotels, airlines, etc.

All the people who work for a living, and are often away from their families on holidays – and not just Labor Day.

    3
  4. Since he’s never had to actually work, it’s easy for him to get confused.

    Idiot..

    5
  6. Was this the same thing he put out on Memorial Day, with a different headline? Bet it is.

    6
  7. What Cheryl said.

    7
  8. Well, at least he didn’t ask why women giving birth have a special day all for themselves.

    8
  9. Polite Kool Marxist says:

Greg needs his own special event – white water rafting in a cement kayak.

    9
  10. I can’t wait to see who he’s going to remember on Martin Luther King Day.

    10
  11. TrulyTexan says:

    @Rick
You can bet it will have a blue lives matter theme.

    11
  12. I’m sure he knows what day it is and what it’s for. He just can’t pass up the opportunity to show off his patriotism. These kinds of messages have become so commonplace that they’ve become perfunctory.

    12
  13. gabberflasted says:

I read today that Newt wants to do away wth Labor Day and replace it wth Constitution Day.

    13
  14. JAKvirginia says:

Gabberflasted: Gee… good idea, Newt. We can go from one holiday you don’t understand to a new one you don’t understand.

    14
  15. gabberflasted, let’s leave Labor Day alone and do away with the newt.

BTW, love your name. I sometimes referred to myself as “flabbered.”

    15
  16. What Lunargent said. And remember your petsitter, too. We work every holiday including Thanksgiving and Christmas, which are usually our busiest days.

Jesus said (Matthew 6:5-6) that you shouldn’t pray out in public to show everybody how “religious” you are. The same people who ripped that page out of their Bibles are often to be found waving flags in public to show everyone how “patriotic” they are. Some of them are sincere, of course, but….

    16
  17. And I can’t help thinking that I know what Abbott’s position would be on issues such as the 40-hour week, sick leave, abolition of child labor, Labor Day as a holiday, etc. if he were asked to vote on them.

    17
  18. Elizabeth Moon says:

Sally in MT: I’ll bet it was, too. Was happy to see that the original Abbott tweet collected its due of corrective comments.

    18
  19. @leenie, thanks for the smile. Abbott’s an idiot.

    19
  20. Huh. Somehow, I don’t think he meant the working people who defend our freedoms [they do, btw.] Or the people in nurses’, police and chefs’ uniforms.

    Abbot is an ijit.
