And Then There Were Two

March 05, 2020 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

Elizabeth Warren is dropping out.  It breaks my heart. My Momma wanted so badly to live long enough to see a woman in the White House. Now so do I.

There is no hint of who she will endorse and I don’t think it matters much anyway.  Her supporters are women who generally like to make up their own minds.

This breaks my heart, too. It’s the sad truth about Elizabeth Warren.

I still say she would have been an excellent president and we have missed an opportunity for meaningful economic justice in this country.

Me too. I liked her ideas and that she had figured out how to make them happen. It was so quick with the departures of Pete and Amy that something has to be up there. Amy VP and Pete head of DNC?

I’m just depressed that somebody so smart, so knowledgeable and so personable couldn’t do better than she did.

    DAMN IT!
Not only women supported her. Warren was my first and only choice from day one, for all the best reasons. She was and is the most accomplished and competent of all the candidates.

She suspended her campaign with dignity. Fear not, Senator Warren will persist!

Senator Elizabeth Warren: “This campaign is no different. I may not be in the race for President in 2020, but this fight – our fight – is not over. And our place in this fight is not over.”

If Senator Sanders wins the nomination, his selection of running mate might come as a surprise to most everyone not living in NV. He has worked well with Senator Cortez-Masto (D-NV) on health care issues. She is 55 and was our fighting state AG before becoming a Senator. She won her Senate seat in NV fighting against Republicon false allegations of this or that sin of omission or commission, when the truth of what she did or did not do was largely hampered by budget constraints set by the Republicon legislature. Would enjoy her in a debate with either Mikey Dense or Nikki Haley.

  6. There was a moment some months ago when her message and her support coalesced. I found myself with good reason, a genuine belief that she might gain the nomination. Then, from nowhere, and for no good reason, that possibility faded.

She could have changed America for the better, for the 90 plus percent of us. I trust she’ll continue with that work however, from wherever she finds herself a year from now.

  7. Dammit! Now I will have to hold my nose during the Florida primary and vote for another old white man, status quo Joe or crotchety Bernie. Blue no matter who!

  8. Brad in Dallas says:

I genuinely like Senator Professor Warren, as Charlie Pierce calls her. She was like Hillary without the creepy husband, smart and committed and a planner. But as soon as I had that thought I realized she would have some of the same problems with less well educated voters that Hilz had.

Professor Senator Warren won’t be going away. She has that seat in the senate as long as she cares. Maybe Bernie or Biden will offer her the VP slot.

A drinking buddy is a headhunter. Oftentimes the best candidate is a woman. But she is passed over in favor of a less qualified man for no other reason than all her DNA matches.

Still – “Madame President” does have a nice ring to it.

She would have been a great president, and I hope she is made the nominee’s vp running mate. The two remaining have had health scares and may not be able to finish their term.

  13. Old Fart says:

    Folks, calm down.

This is a detour for Warren, not a destination. She’ll persist…

  14. RepubAnon says:

I voted for Elizabeth Warren, and will vote the straight Democratic ticket in November. I’m sad that it won’t be the most qualified Democrat at the top of the ticket.

  15. “Her supporters are women [and men] who generally like to make up their own minds.”
What does it say about us as a party when the smartest, toughest, most qualified candidate can’t show better than 3rd place?

    15
  16. I supported (and voted for) her big time, as the single most qualified candidate in the entire field. it distresses me that we still end up with two old white guys who, if elected, might not even survive their first term in office. way to go people!

  17. Scotty in Indiana says:

She’d be perfect as USAG for Joe. She’d restore independence, integrity and honor to the most critical federal department of all, and the one most ravaged by Trump and Barr

Tweeted by Brian Schatz (one of my favorite senators):
Every Senator tends to think they are the smartest person in the room, but it’s only true for Elizabeth Warren.

Thanks for this thread, JJ. I, too, pulled for the Persistent One from the beginning, as my car bumper will attest. But we all know Elizabeth will continue to Dream Big and Fight Hard.

  20. Hope sen. Warren stays in the Senate rather then take any Cabinet position offered ( VEEP Maybe)
Historically Cabinet positions end up being like “participation” trophy’s for jr. leagues. generally they are the end of political careers.
As a senator, preferably as Schumer’s replacement as D leader, with a law abiding Executive she could use subpoena’s and hearings to truly reveal the crimes of moscow mitch and the buffons admin.
Always thought/ think she was the best.
