And the Walls Close in on Cruz

March 29, 2022 By: El Jefe Category: 2020 Election, Cruz, Insurrection, Trump

Y’all smell that?  That stench of partisanship that Sotomayor pointed out about the now GOP-packed SCOTUS?  Yeah, there’s that stench, but the stench I’m talking about is that of insurrection.  We already know about the federal judge who ruled today that TFG likely committed multiple felonies trying to steal the election and stay in power and that’s no surprise, but what’s emerging now is the stench emanating from the office of our own junior senator from Texas, Fled Cruz.  Apparently, he is asshole buddies with insurrectionist lawyer John Eastman, who’s now been ordered to turn over records to the January 6th Committee since his “work” for TFG was not privileged because the judge said he was likely concealing or assisting him to commit fraud against the American people.  BTW, that’s a crime.  Cruz has known Eastman since they clerked together in 1995, and they teamed up (and succeeded) in 2000 to make sure that Al Gore didn’t get a fair count in Florida in that disputed election.

Cruz has continued that tradition ever since, but now it’s coming to light that not only is he a sniveling brown noser who can’t tolerate cold weather or stand up to an ignorant blowhard like TFG, he decided that helping his effort to overthrow the US government was more important than being not a slimy-skinned reptile.  Cruz agreed to lead the insurrection charge in the Senate for TFG, using Eastman’s battle plan to steal the election from Biden by coercing Pence to defraud the American people and his involvement ain’t pretty.  I encourage everyone to read Heather Scott Richardson’s summary of Judge Carter’s order to Eastman to disgorge the damning documents he’s been concealing for over a year, hiding behind attorney privilege that doesn’t exist. It is chilling.  Since it’s “more likely than not” that TFG and associates criminally obstructed Congress, that evidence could not only incriminate Eastman, but all those doing his and TFG’s bidding, like our Junior Senator who dishonors Texas on a daily basis.

I’m popping popcorn.

  1. Dead cockroaches have higher moral and ethical standards than Fled.

  2. I am sure an appeal is coming, with another six-month delay to allow the defense to “gather evidence” to support their position.

  3. The Surly Professor says:

Alan: it will be a nine month delay. All the insurrectionists and Republicans (but I repeat myself) are banking on getting back control of the House and Senate in November. Then squashing all the investigations until they can steal the Presidency in 2024 and start throwing around blanket pardons like rice at a wedding.

The thing that worries me is that these folks will be subpoenaed, go through he courts, have multiple lawyers rotate in and out to delay (a La Alex Jones) and we will all be in our grave before anything is done.

I think that the perfect scenario for Mr. Cruz’s “And the Walls Close in on Cruz” saga would be to actually experience Edgar Allan Poe’s short story “The Pit and the Pendulum”. Without the lucky last minute rescue at the end, of course. He well deserves such a fate.

“…the narrator is subject to thirst and starvation, he is swarmed by [Demon]rats, the razor-sharp pendulum threatens to slice into him and the closing walls are red-hot. …”

We (democrats) better get busy and keep the senate and house in 22-24, and the WH in 2024. Otherwise, it’ll only get much worse and will last for a long time. Fled texas cruz will skate along with too many others to mention.

Correcting the spelling that should read Heather Cox Richardson.

Yes, it is a great article. She has a helpful way of breaking information down so it’s a bit more understandable.

The larger issue is Texans keep voting to elect people like Cruz and the rest of them. For example:

“Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is sticking taxpayers with $45,000 in legal bills to fight multiple professional misconduct complaints against him in the state bar association over his failed attempt to overturn the 2020 election, the Houston Chronicle reports.”

  9. Jefe, please don’t dishonor reptiles by comparing them to Ted Cruz. In fact, comparing him to a thick, steaming pile of cow flop gives him too much credit, but I think we can go with that for now.

I have watched people like Jamie Raskin and Chris Murphy on TV of late and have been really impressed. If little bitty states like Maryland and Connecticut can send people like that to Congress, why the hell can’t Texas find somebody at least half as honorable and smart?

BFS Man – “why can’t Texas find somebody?”
The East Coast is steeped in history of the US, traditions and blue-blood lineage. I lived there (29 years)and learned they respect and insist upon Ivy-League and/or Seven Sisters and/or other full educations. Including study in a foreign country for a year. Educating yourself is a proper pursuit and assumed goal – to be well rounded and level-headed.
My experience moving back to TX (22 years now), is seeing that anti-education is not only condoned but encouraged. TX has an under-educated population, worshiping overly sized sexualized trucks, wearing large bejeweled cross jewelry on flip-flops and cowboy boots, poor grooming and obsession with guns is a lifestyle. The majority revel being under-educated and/or following the words of a fundamentalist leader. It is source of pride and every red-neck is capable of frequent bible boasting – delivered in a “don’t you dare challenge me” style.
In the last election cycle, local candidates I spoke with claimed they had not heard of Separation of Church and State! These “god fearing” door mats maintain their fear and rampant racism and lead their children there. They are aggressive and scary if any thought is expressed to them that might not comply with their memorized, bible referenced, beliefs. This is disheartening.

Fled Texas cruz graduated Harvard. Has the Ivy League has lost its educational reputation? In fairness, I suppose Harvard taught him how to present information, but were unable to influence his heart/soul. Perhaps he doesn’t have one.
Thank you for the question. I have no answer either.
