And Speaking of Getting Back to Work
On November 2nd, when it became clear from Nate Silver that President Obama was going to win and so was Texas State Senator Wendy Davis, State Senator Dan Patrick sent a letter to Texas Attorney Greg Abbott. Here’s a PDF of it.
It seems that Dan Patrick is real concerned with those ho-mo-SEX-u-als again.
He wants Attorney General Abbott to “detetmine whether the Texas Constitution precludes the ability of local political subdivisions from recognizing domestic partnerships by granting benefits previously only available to married couples.”
Patrick is completely flabbergasted that El Paso County, Travis County, City of Fort Worth, City of Austin, City of San Antonio, and the City of El Paso all offer domestic partnership benefits though health insurance. What’s next? Can they bring their partners to the city Christmas party? Is that what Texas has come to?
To make matters worse, Pflugerville Independent School District recently became the first Texas school district to offer insurance benefits to domestic partnerships. Oh dear God, there goes Pflugerville straight to hell. And Dan Patrick wants to team-up with Greg Abbott to save these independent governmental bodies from burnin’ burnin’ hot love.
Yes, indeed, this is the same Dan Patrick who wants Texas to secede from the union because of state’s rights and all. But city or county or school district rights? Screw ‘um! Until they starting electing fine Christian old white men who are too damn old to have s-e-x gay or straight, then somebody has to make a stand, dammit, and that person is Dan Patrick and Greg Abbott.
Thanks to Bob for the heads up.
