And It’s Our Fault When We Get Raped, Too

March 18, 2014 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

Okay, so Republicans decided that saying women are far “too busy” for equal pay for equal work wasn’t good golly goofy enough, so ….

They find another woman who says that it’s women’s own fault if they aren’t paid equal to a man in the same job.

No, seriously.  I have it on tape.  It will be the most surreal 25 seconds of your day.

Do these Republicans ever talk to each other?  Yesterday women were too damn busy to get equal pay but today they need to add some schooling in their busy day and feel real bad about themselves if they don’t have time to learn a new set of life skills because they were so busy yesterday.

So what Republicans are telling us is that if they are re-elected, women are totally screwed.

Okay, I’m pretty sure we already knew that but we appreciate Republicans reinforcing it.

Thanks to Steve for the heads up.

To every thing there is a season. There is a time to negotiate and there is a time to put our collective feet down. There’s an interesting story in the Bible about a town where a bunch of women got mad at their husbands for making some stupid decision and so all the women in town got together and announced that the men wouldn’t be gittin’ any till they changed their policies.

And besides, that lady in the picture looks tard, tard as if she’d been arnin’ all day.

  3. I will pit my negotiating skills against 97% of men and come out the winner. Do it all the time.

That woman is stupid. It’s like saying men are better dancers. Yes, Astaire was good – but Ginger Rogers could out-dance 98% of men and match Astaire. She also did it in heels and backwards.

What that woman said about “men are better negotiators” is pure bullpucky. The women of the Senate proved it when their efforts brought an end to the Ted Cruz Government Shutdown: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/10/16/shutdown-women_n_4110268.html

Just look at how POTUS’ new EPA director Gina McCarthy is making headway with the oil and gas barons: http://online.wsj.com/news/articles/SB10001424052702304732804579421443232259918

  5. @ Marge . . the Greeks had something to say about this too see: http://www.sparknotes.com/drama/lysistrata/summary.html

    5
  6. Actually the story Marge mentions sounds exactly like Lysistrata, the ancient Greek comedy by Aristophanes. In the play, the women of Greece try all kinds of things to get their men to stop making war, but nothing works — until they decide to withhold sex, and — what do you know? It works!

    6
  7. Men are better negotiators? Men just think that because they don’t realize how often they’ve been out-manipulated by women willing to get their way without getting the credit. If we can make him think it was *his* idea…

Then there’s the fact that many men will try to get their way through threats and intimidation. Women often take a gentler approach that might not be recognized as strategic. It can be much more effective and leave the other side with warm fuzzies rather than hostile feelings.

  8. The truth is, no amount of education or experience will keep the good-old-boys from giving a male more money should they choose. I had it happen to me. I had a job slot come open for which I had 3 years current experience at a lower pay grade. They gave it to a male new hire instead of me. Their justification? The male had a family and needed the money more than I did since I had no children (I was newly married).

After thinking about it thoroughly and consulting with my husband, I left the job. The guy with the family? He didn’t last 6 months because the job was 30% travel and he wanted more time at home. Because they shafted me they lost 2 employees. There was a substantial cost to train and certify an employee for that position so they were going to be out some real money.

    8
  9. @Marge Wood: I thought that story was from ancient Greece, not the bible. Still, it’s a great idea.

    9
  10. Marge & Zyxomma, you may be thinking of the play “Lysistrata” by Aristophanes. The women of Athens and Sparta get together and announce that the men get no nookie until they stop the war.

Numerous times we’ve been told that women get less because they don’t “negotiate”, ask for raises, or push for a higher salary to start with. A recent study said that when women try to do all that, men think they’re pushy and bitchy and won’t hire or promote them.

Damned if you do or don’t– at least it’s familiar territory.

    10
  11. Am I the only one who thinks this woman is implying women should negotiate from a horizontal position?

Americans had something to say, too. A guy asked his wife to try on his pants and she said she couldn’t wear them, they were too big. He agreed and said that is why he was the boss. She offered him her delicate panties and told him to put those on. He said he can’t get into them. She said and you never will until you decide I’m the boss. Gentle but firm negotiations win the day.

  13. RepubAnon says:

Sounds to me as though the Republicans are saying that any woman who votes for a Republican is either too tired to think straight, or doesn’t know how to negotiate with politicians (vote against them, and they’ll start listening)

Should be some great sound bites for when the election gets closer… not to mention the bumper stickers:

Tired of Republican politicians cutting your income? Vote For Wendy!

    14
  15. I know one thing about this woman, she doesn’t make enough money for a decent hair cut, or make up.

For heaven’s sake. She was doing a television interview as the “Spokesperson” (woman) for the Texas Republican Party.

You would think she would want to look her best, and at minimum….. “camera ready”.

She would/will be better on radio.

    That’s sad.

  16. Miss Prissybritches says:

I click around enough on all kinds of websites to know that there are a whole lot of women who will not vote for Wendy Davis based entirely upon her abortion stand. They have spent their entire lives as a totally sheltered, protected little woman, and they are very proud of that fact….and very firm in their belief that abortion is murder and God will getcha for that. Onward Christian Soldiers. Of course I got into a conversation, for lack of a better term, with one of them at the Fair last fall… she was dripping in gawdy jewelry and ugly bling-bling, harassing the Democrats working in our booth on her way down to work in the Republican booth about how no one was going “to take away the money her husband left her when he died and give it to a bunch of folks who refused to work and used their food stamps to buy booze.” When I asked her if she had ever heard of Jesus’s advice to be her brother’s keeper, she lost it… and took off to go sign up folks on their petition to repeal ObamaCare. What an ugly bunch of a-holios. Got no use for any of them.

When was the last time a woman negotiated us into a war?

    17
  18. I picture this woman’s brain as a keyboard with a dead bee laying on it. Each key represents a bat crap crazy idea. She shakes her head, and whatever key the bee lands on determines what comes out of her mouth.

  19. Polite Kool Marxist says:

More men need to be like President Obama. He picked the perfect wife and now he is replacing departed deputy chief of staff Alyssa Mastromonaco with another woman, Anita Decker Breckenridge. Good for you, Mr President! A smart man surrounds himself with good women, especially if he has to contend with the Pentagon, NSA, CIA, a veritable alphabet soup of entrenched bureaucrats, and a rat bag full of Congress varmints.

How many hours did it take Senator Patty Murray to fill in those blank budget pages pAyn Lying Ryan had been waiving around for months?

Me? According to my wife, I’m on a roll this week having selected the correct tie two days running. Please don’t tell her I cheated by memorizing the shirt, suit and tie combinations she has put together for me.

    19
  20. Perhaps men are better negotiators because they are listened to and what they say is respected just because they’re men. The person who said that women are generically poor negotiators clearly holds that attitude herself.

    20
  21. Corinne Sabo says:

    Is the woman wearing shoes?

    21
  22. Polite Kool Marxist says:

Stay down, Corinne Sabo! You said it all. As a guy, am a little reluctant, nah actually fearful of, commenting on how a woman appears. But, if I had to picture a woman with low self esteem, a miserable gohmert of a husband, and overworked to buy his lazy gohmert wife beating beer, this is the woman. She needs to run from Abbott and seek a real job with Wendy Davis.

Hey Greg, you gohmert, when your employees show up with evident black eyes, maybe you should call in support services, you gohmert. Gohmert man, open your eyes.

    22
  23. I love the look on the newscaster’s face after they came back from the video clip!

Ok, I’m getting confused here….I’m not supposed to go to “Uncle Sugar” for BCP to help control my libido, but I am supposed to buy rape insurance in advance. I also get paid less than a man because I’m either too busy to care or because I’m not a good negotiator?! Jeez…

  24. Edward Starsmith says:

One thing you have to give her credit for. Men aren’t the only ones who can say stupid things about women.

Republican Party = Equal Opportunity for Stupid.

    24
  25. Polite Kool Marxist says:

Edward Starsmith, it’s rich with irony, when Bobby Jindal states the GOP needs to stop being “the party of stupid,” while being one of the biggest gohmert stomping of the stupid.

But I must admit GOP women fascinate me. It seems like the political equivalent of Stockholm Syndrome.

    25
  26. Wendy had another great comeback to this mess, tweeted yesterday. There’s a graphic, and Wendy’s tweet says:

“A top @GregAbbott_TX ally’s explanation for his out of touch opposition to #EqualPay? “Men are better negotiators.”

    https://twitter.com/WendyDavisTexas/status/445952511854129153

I think these GOP women are not getting the message out the way their Party was hoping they would. Time for a Republican MAN to come on and do a little MANsplaining for us, eh?

    26
  27. Gads! I used to live in Michigan! Back then the guys in the state leg would get brain freeze if they even thought of words to do with lady parts and crimes like rape, so they never spoke of such. Now they are admitting that men in general are of such danger to all women everywhere, no matter what age or condition, that women need to buy insurance against that danger? Well, now!!! That is one hell of an admission if I ever heard one!

  28. e platypus onion says:

Just for fun, let’s start a rumor that all wingnut rapes will be homosexual rapes from now on. Just to watch them freak out.And wingnut women get raped at 77% of what men get raped.
