All Hat, No Cattle: Ted Cruz

May 08, 2013 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

Texas junior senator Ted Cruz, who we refer to as Mr. Debate Club around here, just floored it in neutral again.

Conservative newcomer Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, on Tuesday missed the Judiciary Committee deadline for filing immigration bill amendments when he found himself answering Senate Majority Harry Reid, who called him a “schoolyard bully.”

“The Senator felt that it was important to go down [to the floor] and protect the minority’s rights” regarding the budget, a spokeswoman in Cruz’s office said.

Yep, Debate Club Ted was on the floor saying, “No, I am not a bully like Harry Reid said.  I’m just doing my job,” at the exact time he screwed up his job by not getting his amendments filed on time.  He missed the deadline while he was whining.

Cruz delivered his remarks at about 5 p.m., which happened to be the deadline for filing amendments to the immigration bill. The Judiciary Committee is set to mark up the bill Thursday.

Cruz’s office said they alerted Judiciary Chairman Patrick Leahy, D-Vt., that they would be filing late because of the circumstances. Leahy extended Cruz the courtesy of filing later.

The “circumstances” being that widdle Ted had to take to the floor to whine that Harry Reid was making fun of him, which was far more important that getting his legislation filed on time.

Ted’s widdle peelin’s get hurt when everybody doesn’t recognize his genius.

Don’t you know that Leahy was giggling at Cruz for the damn irony of the thing.

Thanks to Alfredo over at the Dairy Queen for the heads up.

That’s the ticket: offend the leadership of the Senate and your allies. Good Move, Teddy!

By the way, in case you didn’t notice it, “minority” rights are protected in the Senate by the filibuster. Go on ahead an abuse that, too, while you’re at it.

    What a 24-karat putz!

    Patrick Leahy is a gentleman.

  3. Would love to see this story:

“Cruz’s office said they alerted Judiciary Chairman Patrick Leahy, D-Vt., that they would be filing late because of the circumstances. Leahy informed Cruz’s office that he needn’t bother because rules apply to everyone.”

But Leahy IS a gentleman, even if it costs him. Cruz seems to have the entitlement sense of a poorly trained two-year-old.

  4. Ted Cruz. What an empty suit!

  5. What was the amendment little Ted hoped to file?

To ban those born in Calgary from running for president.

    5
  6. You call him “Mr. Debate Club” because he’s a political Master-Debater?

    6
  7. Does anyone think Mr. Cruz would have extended the same courtesy if the situations were reversed?
    Play some Hardball Dems!

C’mon, Texas, rejoice! At least Texas didn’t re-elect Disgraced Mark Sanford to congress after his “Appalachian hike.” Makes Cruz look like a Saint by comparison!

  9. Okaaaay! Ted-ums is a newbie in the club and all he has going for him is his mouth — all the friggin’ time! Actually, filings are done by staffers. A staffer that embarrasses the boss even worse than the boss can do to himself is usually canned. However, if the staffer is a relative or an in-law, they simply get a new desk behind the copier. Speaking of staffers, anyone out there with the resources to find out if the Cruzzer hired anyone from private industry as a staffer? There’s a strange kind of revolving door on the Hill lately. Used to be that ex staffers became lobbyists for some pretty powerful interests. Now lobbyists are “retiring” an taking jobs as staffers in certain offices working on certain issues. I mean, like, would Ted-ums even know????

Concerned for minorities? Cruz the Conceited was once again trying to get attention for himself, prancing like a peacock on the Senate floor. This is what passes for governing in the Republican Party. And you can be sure his amendment does not ensure the rights of minorities either.

  11. Cruz is a bucketful of crap looking for a bucket.

Your title reminds me of a picture over a bar in Colorado:
Stetson perched atop a pair of boots.
    Caption: Texan after an enema.
(Irony: The bar patrons were mostly Texan touirists)

Karma can be a bitch. Ted will get a very interesting “come- uppance” as my Grandma used to say…. because if ANYONE deserves a visit from the KarmaBitch, it is Carnival Cruz. I am sure the Cruz Crowd were cheering him on, every step of the way while he was whining on the Senate Floor.

  13. Maryelle, in this context “minority” means the Republicans in the Senate, since they have fewer members than the Democrats. Has nothing to do with the downtrodden white Christian upper-class males, who are clearly oppressed at every turn.

  14. More whining…
