Alert the Media! Dubya Still Not Using Brain.

November 19, 2013 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

Former President George W. Bush announced last week that building the Keystone XL Pipeline is “a no-brainer.”

And who, if not President Bush would be America leading expert on no-brainers?

Bush said building the pipeline is a economic necessity because it will provide 20,000 jobs.  No brainer.  Initially it will provide 3,900 temporary jobs and then a grand total of 35 jobs once it’s finished.  See, no brain.  It will, however, provide the equivalent of 51 coal plants worth of carbon emissions.

The Keystone XL pipeline is a way to get Canadian oil out of the US, not into it.  We take all the danger and get none of the benefits.  That there?  See, that’s the no-brainer.

Thanks to Robert for the heads up.

NO KIDDING. And guess who is going to get a ton of the money? The Koch brothers, who own a LOT of the oil industry in Canada. They can’t be satisfied with having $15 billion, really gazillion, but I’ll settle for billion dollars, they wanna stop all the renewable energy businesses/policies/information (they specialize in misinformation) that come down the pike, unless they control it. Please support Production Tax Credits for wind energy with your legislators. Since some pretty reputable industries are involved in wind power, even some GOPs are in favor of it. Remember, if you read something in your paper that sounds fishy, like “a conservative think tank says…” google Koch brothers and…..whatever it is. You’ll be amazed.
While you’re here I’ll remind you: Remember, today is ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT DAY, or tomorrow if you go to UT. I have my ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT tag all ready to wear and sitting on the kitchen counter.

  2. I did not think W was allowed out of the house for more than half an hour at a time. Laura! Do something with your husband–he’s crawled out the window and is trying to think without a neck brace.

    2
  3. Yeah, when Shrub declares something to be a no brainer, he speaks from a position of authority.

    3
  4. As I understand it, the oil would go to Texas refineries which would ship it overseas. If the Canadians want it so bad, why can’t they send it across Canada? My guess is they’d rather mess up our environment than theirs.

And our only benefit would be to the refineries and a few temporary jobs building the pipeline balanced against the potential damage when the pipeline leaks or breaks.

  5. Truth is less palatable than fiction when people see $$$ in lies.

  6. Any time a konservative talks about jobs just substitute the term “corporate profits” and the statement will read just right.

  7. W. C. Peterson says:

The way I understand it, the oil companies have already modified their refineries to process that toxic sludge, so they”re pushing hard to justify building the pipe to carry 400 gallons per second (it will be the largest-capacity pipeline in the world, if built).
Trouble is, shale fracking is starting to produce large amounts of sweet, light crude oil that would be a joy to refine, but the refineries wouldn’t be able to use the equipment they installed to handle the toxic sludge from Canada. Rather than simply writing off or mothballing that equipment and go with the sweeter feedstock, the oil companies are going to export the sweet stuff and push for the pipeline. The Koch billionaires stand to make $100 billion profit by refining the toxic sludge. But they want the taxpayers and the environment to carry the risks of a pipeline ‘accident’, as they usually do.

  8. W as in the oil bus. Did he ever make any money(his)? They are problems with XL pipeline in Tx. many dents and other probs.

Getting Canadian crud on American families is easier than Americans getting food on their families. Why not take everyone’s garbage. Korporate Amerika is off the hook for Superfund cleanups, thanks to rethuglicans. Now taxpayers foot the bills so korporate kriminals can keep their profits offshore and tax free.

Heavy, sour crude from Canada will create a surplus of heavy oil for Gulf refineries and will be exported(if KXL is built). According to this report, refineries are spending billions to re-equip refineries to handle light sweet crude oil again. Seems like everyone involved is lying through their teeth.

    10
  11. I was always opposed to the pipeline, but especially since I figured out it will be coming through my backyard, almost literally! I live in Beaumont and the crude is going to Port Arthur and others. We have refineries here in town. I don’t know if they’ll handle the stuff, but if there’s a spill anywhere near I’m sure I’ll be affected. Even on the west side of town. Such a bunch of lies and misconceptions. But then there are those who don’t consider Canada a foreign country. Wait! Just a thought. Which Canadian product is more toxic to Texas: crude oil or Oily Cruz?

I’m sure the Koch’s put an emergency fund aside to clean up any future leaks, right?

Oops, sorry just fell asleep for a moment!

Koch Business Plan 101: Privatize the profits and socialize the losses.

The US is in for a world of hurt if this thing is built. Consider the affect of leaks on the US’s water and food system. Remember Mayflower, Ark. and Greenville, TX.?

    Then there are the tornadoes.

Or, if you really want to puke, a wide open target for terrorism. Domestic and Foreign.

    God help us.

  13. President Bush not only has a background in the oil industry, but continues to work regularly with oil related products, such as oil paint, as seen here in a recent cat portrait given to his daughter Barbara:

    14
  15. $15 billion would be enough for me, but not for either Koch, apparently. They want it AALLLL and they want us to pay for their spills and pollution and climate change. And they pay plenty of politicians to go along.

And W’s about as much use as a screen door on a submarine, if I may borrow what may have been JJ’s lovely image a while back.

    15
  16. As usual, Bush, the lesser, is way, way behind. That 20,000 worker figure was proven to be vastly overstated immediately after it was first published. The few decent paying jobs will probably be held by Canadians.

    16
  17. OK. I admit it. I did read the book called “Bush’s Brain”. So did my husband. Can only conclude that GWB got dropped on his head a lot as a baby or took one too many baseballs to the head in Little League. That sludge coming from Canada is hot as hell and toxic. Why they haven’t planned on cooling it down a bit before putting it into some innocent pipeline is beyond me. Even my Canadian cousins can’t make sense of this. Yeah, somebody somewhere did some kind of wicked math that proved that sludge at that temp won’t be harmful to any pipeline, but what they don’t do is figure in the length of exposure of a pipeline to the stuff. I am betting my widow’s mite that the pipeline will leak and expose locals to its nastiness. The only reason why somebody decided to run a pipeline to U.S. refineries is that Canadian winter weather is too fierce to keep refineries open year round. In sum, tar sand not good. No matter how you look at it.
