A Good Day to Grin

March 12, 2014 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

I don’t know about you, but I am having a great day.  First, the weather is gorgeous – sunshine and 68 degrees.

I replaced my XM radio and my clock radio and got them plug together with only two trips to Best Buy.  I think that’s a record.

I found a sweater that I thought I had lost.

Is it just me or have the blueberries been especially good lately?

And this – ta da – this.  (work safe link) (it’ll make you grin, too)

  1. Glad you are having great weather.
We are having a snowstorm 12 inches +and near blizzard conditions due to the wind.

I’ve made a cherry pie and will have a glass of wine, and watch the snow. It’s pretty impressive with the wind.

  2. Buh-bye, Jan! All the brown folks, and the straight but not narrow libruls like me won’t miss you one bit.

  3. Marion (formerly known as MM) says:

Does this mean she too is running for president?

    3
  4. Marion, I would love to see her in that mix. More popcorn please.

    4
  5. Thinking further of her pointing that gnarly finger at Rick Perry and all the other boys.

Cat fight in the Clown Car. I like it. While Rand and Ted trade punches, Jan can scratch all of them.

How’s your attorney doing with that citizenship problem, Ted?

That scorpion pin she’s wearing caught my eye. Think it means anything!

  8. Blizzard here with 14-20 inches of snow by tomorrow morning and wind chills of -10.

On the positive side, all of the school districts in the county – including mine – closed today so I didn’t have to battle near-zero visibility to get home from work. 🙂

  9. Sam in Kyle says:

Good riddance of bad rubbish. I can’t imagine why Arpaio isn’t throwing his hat in the ring.

I heard about Rick Perry’s ‘blueberry’ comment and my first thought was that he was describing his last encounter with Michael Berry.

  10. My day has been pretty good, too. I found the sewing machine bobbins I’ve been looking for. And I will no longer share a name with a crazy governor.
Oh, and I see a big round yellow thing in the sky. Haven’t seen it in months!

  11. Polite Kool Marxist says:

Sam in Kyle, the lout also known as “sheriff” Arpaio is so close to free room and board in his own institution, he should be thinking of retiring. Inside and outside of Arizona, he’s too toxic for even the dumbest of the gohmerts to waste a dollar campaign contribution to him.

A good political fit for he and Sean Hannity would be riding border portal unarmed and on bicycles. Those two lard butt gohmerts should not be allowed to burden a horse. Although Jon Stewart and I will miss the comedic value of Sean on a horse. Boy Howdy, as a true westerner, Sean would have been a howl on a horse, if I wasn’t so worried about the overburdened horse. A fat rookie with no feel for the reins needs to visit Houston and ride a mechanical bull. No fine animal should ever be exposed to gohmerts.

Sixty-nine and sunny clear blue skies here in the Columbia River Gorge. Perfect springy day. Loving it.

Hard to imagine, but the AZ desert seems to sprout rwnj’s like cactus flowers. Her successor may be even worse.

  14. Dave in Austin says:

Don’t get too lightfooted about Jan not going for another term. Methinks Sheriff Joe may try to slide in behind her. The AZ. Geriatric community thinks he walks on water there. Oh Gawd…. The more I think about it……

  15. Marge Wood says:

Miz Jan the Governor looks mighty happy and relieved. Wouldn’t YOU be?

    15
  16. Marge, after Brewer leaves office, the citizens of Arizona should feel happy and relieved, as though they had just stepped out of the smallest room in the house.

    16
  17. VeeGee in VT says:

I left Arizona for Vermont 32 years ago because of the weather (there was only one kind) and the politics (scary). So today, amid howling winds and a foot of snow so far in the two day storm here, I am toasty warm and happy to see Jan Brewer riding into the sunset.

    17
  18. Buh-bye, Jan B. Don’t let the door hit you in the …

    18
  19. Given that this is Arizona we could end up with someone worse.

    19
  20. Marge Wood says:

Leenie and other snow-ridden folk, where ARE you? I’d take a foot of snow for the moisture content. And yes, I ‘spect folks will be just as glad for Miz Brewer to transfer her computer to her sewing room, or whatever her plans are for retirement.

I love Alan Grayson. Wish he lived in Texas.

Isn’t there any kind of law about not letting teevee stations tell lies to the world and pretending it’s the truth? (I’m thinkin’ about Faux News.)

And finally, Travis County Democrats are lookin’ for more volunteers for the county convention on March 22. How about signing up to sit next to me to register the early birds? I know, 8 a.m. But I get to see everyone and get lots of hugs and smiles. Google Travis County Democratic Party and find out how to contact them. Park at Palmer.

OH. And Mark Kapner is going to talk about renewable energy in Austin at South Travis United Democrats on March 18 at Brick Oven, Slaughter at Brodie. See you at supper time on March 18!

  21. Mother of God that is nuts. Three months old? I wonder how he came up with that? Why not six months? Why not three years? Why not anyone without a degree? That should really get the Republicans frothing.

  22. Elise Von Holten says:

As another Ex-Az, I too am relieved, and not hopeful. When I was a child, we were taught that we were tapping into and using 50,000 year old water that naturally bubbled up…that water hit the limestone slurry at the bottom over ten years ago. When they have really killed the desert, “mean” will be the byword for hot, thirsty people. The next crowd will scapegoat the least of them even more, that being way of things…scares me who could step in next…
I’m really grateful for the foot of snow, in Upstate NY, it was so beautiful yesterday–it’s a lovely clear day today!
