Defending Bribery
Elon Musk has inexplicably inserted himself into Presidential Politics, and not in a good way.
We can excuse his acrobatic exposure of his unhealthy bare 12-pack by acknowledging his social clumsiness, as many on “the spectrum” are afflicted with that. But as an intellectual, he must be aware that rewarding people with the opportunity to become millionaires if they sign his petition AND are registered to vote in a swing state is demonstrably illegal.
He must have known that. If not before, definitely by now.
The SuperPAC that is making these cash layouts is Musk’s America PAC. America PAC was registered with the FEC with Chris Gober designated as custodian and treasurer. Gober is a lawyer with Austin-based Gober Group.
But not anymore. Lawyers can spot lawsuits that they will be on the wrong side of from a parsec away. As of today, America PAC, has a new custodian and treasurer by the name of Chris Young.
Chris Young is a “GOP Adviser” (aka paid political hack) that, as a non-lawyer, has expertise in GOTV efforts as well as voter registration of the GOP kind. So he knows about laws that prohibit paying people to register to vote, too.
So now that the Department of Justice has warned Musk that his $1 m lottery scheme may be in violation of federal law, Gober bailed.
What might be worse than a lawyer being a co-defendant in a federal trial of Musk’s SuperPAC? How about being a defense witness at his voter bribery trial?
Muskrat has seen how the Teflon Don doesn’t seem to have to obey the law, so he probably figures the law won’t apply to him, either. Unfortunately, it probably won’t, but I hope I’m wrong.
1Poor ol’ Rudy Ghouliani is looking so damned quaint nowadays.
ETTD
Starting to look like EETD too.
.
I gotta give the Space Nazi a little credit though.
I closely follow the SpaceX activities at StarBase over at Boca Chica.
The IFT 5 of a Starship a couple of weeks ago was beyond fantastic.
Watching the Super Heavy Booster stage come back down to the ORM, and get caught by the Chopsticks, was about the most amazing thing that I’ve ever seen.
That BFR is about 300 feet tall (the whole Starship is 400 feet tall) and weighs (fueled) about 8 million pounds (around 4,000 tons), Whole Starship is about 11 million pounds (5,500 tons).
Landing, SH was about 700,000 pounds nearly empty, merely 350 tons.
Returning right back to where it had just taken off from a few minutes before.
At formerly wild place, salt flats, Boca Chica Beach, the Rio Grande, that I used to roam around at decades ago.
2Fishing, hunting, sailing off that same beach. Even busting over the bars at the mouth of the Rio Grande and sailing up the river.
Whatta world!
Picture of the Starship Super Heavy Booster (stage 1) as it’s putting its’ skinny butt right back down on the launch tower and pad.
At Boca Chica Beach, Deep South Texas, after rocketing to the edge of space a few minutes before! :

3Cannot figure out why anyone, including The Elon, would behave like this. His “success” was planned out on his own but all the heavy work was done by “ordinary people” who somehow do not get any press or pix time to show how overjoyed they are. Wonder why it works that way.
4RE #1, It seems the “conservative” (better described as reactionary) ideology is described by *Wilhoit’s Law* or
“Conservatism consists of exactly one proposition, to wit: There must be in-groups whom the law protects but does not bind, alongside out-groups whom the law binds but does not protect.” Elon, 45, et. al are protected by the law but not held to obey it. (Unlike this Beauty Salon team.)
Yes the Space X technology is impressive, though little of nothing of it was because of Elon personally (as #4 pointed out).
By the way today the Wall Street Journal has reported that Musk had (has) secret regular “contact” with Putin and that 45 does not deny that he still has regular Putin calls too.

5Musk’s goal is to grab media attention, create controversy, make idiotic claims about what our First & Second Amendment rights as written by the Founders actually mean, and to generate ever more suspicion of our election integrity in ignorant people. Basically, Musk&Co are pouring fuel on the “rigged election” meme.
