5As a (minor) ‘watch collector’, I follow ‘watches’ a bit. I looked into this some, it’s just another tRump scam operation; in which Comrade Donnei skims a royalty payment from.
These watches are worth no where near the prices asked, and are violating Swiss trade law, since they are not primarily made in Switzerland of Swiss components; they’re mainly cheap to mid-range Chinese and/or Japanese components likely assembled in Vietnam.
Information about these watches’ provenance is curiously hard to find, but the best rundown that I found is a Wired article (poorly titled imo; linked below), which digs out quite a bit of info about these tacky timepieces.
(I tend to prefer Suunto watches, top specs and reasonable prices, although the Chinese have now taken the Finnish company over)
