Two Things We Should Know
When considering the Tucker Carlson situation there has been a lot of things said already. Unfortunately, I was slow to the punch and let the other patrons here in the salon state their piece before I got to my keyboard. Carlson is a three time loser when you also consider his time at CNN and MSNBC. In that vain, I suppose we could possibly see him again at an OAN or NewsMax, but I’m guessing those little networks don’t have the cash or the stones to bring him in. So, maybe he becomes something along the lines of an Alex Jones or Mike Lindell and funds his own YouTube/Network venture.
I’m not here to speculate on Carlson. Enough people have done that already. Maybe it was the sexual harassment suit that got him. Maybe it was being public enemy number to Dominion. Perhaps, there was an under the radar agreement as a part of the settlement that someone would pay the piper. Maybe Murdoch and his cronies tired of watching sponsors march out the door with an increasingly racist, Russian, and nativist bent on the airwaves. It is more likely a combination of those things.
The first thing we know is that Carlson just learned the first rule of business. You are only valued as an asset as long as you continue to be a net asset. The moment you become something else, the powers that be will get rid of you. That might be the one thing he and Don Lemon have in common. They just weren’t worth it anymore. I could say that it wasn’t anything personal, but it is. When you are a prick and a jackass then you have to be worth a lot for you to stay. That wasn’t true anymore. Sean Hannity, Lauran Ingraham, and Judge Pirro should heed this warning too.
The second thing we know is that whoever replaces Carlson is likely to be worse. Bill O’Reilly was bad. Everyone was happy when he left. Then, Carlson took his time slot and suddenly Bill O didn’t seem so bad. When Glenn Beck left it seemed like a breath of fresh air just long enough to realize the crazy train wasn’t stopping anytime soon. Networks don’t make money by scaling back the crazy. They just need a different brand. I have no idea who is replacing Carlson in the long run, but I know it will be someone worse in some way imaginable.
Totally agree with everything you stated. Fux news won’t be less obnoxious, conspiratorial or any of the other adjectives we have all said about them. And tuckster will emerge as bad as ever. Both Rupert’s organization and the tuckster will profit off feeding the magat cultists red diseased meat.

“Don’t believe your own publicity”.
They start getting above themselves and it all comes crashing down eventually. Unfortunately there is too much damage they can do before the edifice falls. Maybe Murdoch should keep this adage in mind.

*ucker C was a bigger failure, he was set up with his own short-lived Con slanted PBS show in 2004 [Dubya and minions were busy f’ing up the perceived ‘librl’ PBS]. It was W. F. Buckley without the smarts and wit.
The show was “Tucker Carlson: Unfiltered”, which was like Lucky Strikes and Camels, bad for you. I watched it, he was a smarmy puke then, a puke now. The show had dismal ratings.
It’s quite amazing how many current Rethug ‘media stars’ got an early boost on PBS, another is Maria Bartiromo, who iirc, often appeared on the PBS NBizR program. [I’ve never seen any of those cable shows, but have never understood how, with just a few million viewers, they could have such influence.]

I hadn’t seen that Sandridge, thanks for the trip down amnesia lane. Needless to say, I don’t see Tucker getting picked up by any established network. It’s funny you mention Bartiromo. I’ve never seen anyone go further based on the strength of one dress in my entire life. Kudos I guess.

8This article is about one of our favorite people to loathe, fled cruz and his efforts before the Jan 6 insurrection to overturn the 2020 election of Joe Biden. It’s not really OT because there’s a video imbedded of Jimmy Kimmel where he talks about the tuckster among other things (including fled). If you want some wide ranging humor and have 12 minutes to kill, it’s worth watching. At least I enjoyed it because I’m in bed way before Kimmel is on. Beware it takes a while to get to tuckster and fled but it’s all humorous (smiley face)

I’ve linked the Snopes article because it goes into some details, none of which counter the fact that he was not exactly loved by Mom. Everytime I read the details about how the wealthy leave their money to the next generation, and how the kiddies squabble and fight over the remnants and pieces, I realize they really aren’t fully human.

Tucker disappeared for a week because it looked like some very bad evil of his was coming out. A week later—-he is back and
the subject goes down the memory hole.

11OK, let’s see now. Who will replace Tucker and will most likely be worse than Tucker. No. I realize that there are folks who think that Trump will take that seat where he can “safely” campaign for another 4 year visit to the White House. Not really. It does look that way, though, but consider this. He would only do it if he owned not only the show but the the Murdoch empire itself which he would immediately destroy and rename the Trump empire. He always has to be boss, moving the chess pieces around and throwing ketchup on the walls.
