Sign of the Times

Republicans have a new idea.  It’s hard to tell who’s doing this because their name is We The People of Texas – Fort Bend, and the only google entry I found is  —

But when you go there, there’s no there there. Or at least not much of one. It’s mainly to collect money and cookies.

They start off sweet enough —

And they shift to their favorite thing – money.

And then is gets scary —

There have been some heated discussions at the beauty salon over what the hell the last sign means.  Thelma thinks it means abortions. Junior thinks it’s about racism – that the white race needs to survive. Lucille thinks it’s about a civil war. Me? I think it’s about scaring the poop outta people and dosing out bucket loads of anxiety on the highway.

Be social and share!

  1. It’s about MONEY silly.It always is.

  2. Another one I think we’re about to start hearing a lot more about is called Citizens for Sanity.
This video in this link is bookended by some kinda right wing “news” group, but the ad itself I heard on the radio yesterday.
    https://youtu.be/SKfBDAevh-0
The video version is even worse.
I’m sure it’s just a coinkydink that we’re starting to see and hear more of this crap right around the time that polls are showing massive voter registration by women after Roe was overturned.
IMHO, it’s how they beat Ann Richards.
    On steroids.

  3. Its about survival alright.
Their ability to survive the wholesale backlog of elbow
jabbing from other nutty butt, lunatic, right wingers wanting a piece of the stupid people pie.

  4. There is no question the “survival” message is about white power. It is being issued by a bunch of white people (mostly men but sometimes their tamed brood mares as well) to just who exactly?

The Hispanics? Maybe the Samoans that live in Texas? Native Americans? They know something about survival but I don’t think they want that help.

I enjoy the fact that you can stop by for a glass of sweet tea and a chat with them inside their tiny mailbox at the UPS Store, conveniently located near the REDRUM Fear Park

  6. I’ve long wondered – and marveled – at how Republicans can frame a message that is completely the opposite of facts. A simple internet search provides many articles comparing economic success, Republicans vs Democrats. One can easily argue that presidents have little actual impact on economic forces (price of oil?), but it remains a go to for arguments supporting one party over the other. I came across an article in Forbes from 2012, still relevant today. A reporter interviewed the author of a book comparing the economies for the previous eighty years, going back to Coolidge. The findings are stunning! The economy is far more positive while Democrats are in control. But, one would never know that, given the messaging by Republicans, with little pushback from Democrats. It’s all about the messaging (Frank Luntz, et al!).

  7. Yup, it’s vote Republican or the purge. Those are your two choices…

It was like that damn fool Jenna Ellis who talked about never giving in on her Christianity. They really want us to come for their guns and religion.

I wish some smart Dem could come up with a series of signs aka he old Burma Shave signs. Like:
    He sleeps around
    He evades taxes
    He loves the Russians
    He stole documents
    Vote Republican???

  9. Down here in South Texas starting last week the Rethuglikkkans have begun saturating the teevee airwaves [what little I watch] with –extremely negative– ads, against Democratic candidates, Joe Biden, and Democrats in general.
They’re ripping away at my newly gerrymandered TX-15 Dem candidate Michelle Vallejo, everybody’s fav Henry Cuellar [my recent district], and everything else remotely Democratic.
Vallejo is already being called “Dangerous! Socialist!…”, and you know it’ll get much worse.

The Rethugs are outta the gate and running the race like hellfire. I’ve seen almost no Democratic ads or effort, just a few feeble Beto ads..

WTF? Are we going to let the Rethugs flip the House and Senate in November? Texas Democrats had better get it in gear.

Majority Savers: Let’s Support Michelle Vallejo for Texas-15! :
    https://www.dailykos.com/stories/2022/8/22/2116075/-Majority-Savers-Let-s-Support-Michelle-Vallejo-for-Texas-15

“The Rio Grande Valley shifted heavily to the right in 2020, and the state GQP responded by making this a district that TFG would have won, setting them up for gaining a seat in the area.
—However, the Democratic Party hopefully won’t go down without a fight like they did in a special election a couple months ago.— Majority Savers heads to Texas’ 15th district to profile our candidate, Michelle Vallejo!

Michelle Vallejo is one of the most progressive candidates to ever run in South Texas. This will be a handicap for her to overcome, as the RGV usually doesn’t support progressive candidates. She will likely be tarred with the ‘socialist’ brush very frequently by her opposition.
…The Rio Grande Valley has been staunchly Democratic throughout its history… Whether it was voters flipping or TFG finding new voters, the Rio Grande Valley cannot be counted upon any more. The Texas GQP hastened the process in the 15th district during redistricting by making it a seat that TFG would have carried. This is likely the seat most at risk of flipping in Texas. It doesn’t help that the more progressive option won the primary. Again, the RGV does not usually support progressive candidates for Congress. …
The 15th district of Texas is one of what are called the ‘fajita strip’ districts that are made to ensure that Hispanic candidates along the Rio Grande Valley have maximum representation. …
[my area]: Wilson, Karnes, and Live Oak Counties: These counties are hopelessly red, each giving TFG above 70% of the vote in 2020. Luckily, they are small counties with few voters. Vallejo has better opportunities in restoring the voting margins in the RGV than finding voters here.

  10. “It’s Not Political
    It’s About Survival
    Vote Republican”

I think they mean survival of the Republican Party, because if you don’t vote for them they’ll go extinct. (Which means it is political and they lie, a twofer)
