Did Facebook Try Ivermectin?
Facebook is broken. Couldn’t have happened to a more deserving guy.
Ya gotta wonder if they tried unplugging it and then plugging it back in.
And then Twitter owned them —
And there’s this handy suggestion from Deb T. —
And then my eight year old Keurig coffee pot died today. Damn, that sucker made good coffee. Which brings me to — do you know of any terrifically good coffee I need to try?
Facebook lost $19billion in value over recent months. The latest gaffe has cost Zuckerberg an additional whopping $7billion in the past 24 hours. That’s barely making a blip in his accumulated wealth. So for those waiting for Z’s Lake Tahoe property to become sale priced, we still have a bit of a wait.
Any doubts about the need for an accumulated wealth tax? According to my Grandpa there was once a time that $1million would provide for a decent retirement. So adjusted for inflation maybe that figure is now $1billion. But an additional pot of $199+billion? From the same people who would claim that a meager raise to $15/hr. for workers is too pricey there should be only one reply regarding their taxes: “You ain’t seen nothing yet!” ~BTO
1I just drink Starbucks made in a French press. I dislike coffee made from the little pods, it just tastes bad to me. I’ve tried a lot of coffee, and I’ve found none that tastes better to me than Starbucks. But your pays your money and you makes your choice.
2Coffee and facebook — two things that have *never* been a part of my life. Sometimes, the choices we make are actually good ones…
3My regular coffees are usually Ethiopian Yirgacheffe or Papua New Guinea.
4My Sunday and special occasion coffee is Jamaica Blue Mountain.
I buy them in 5 lb sealed bags and keep them in a sealed container until I grind some for a pot.
I’ve never belonged to Facebook because I like my privacy and having real friends. As for coffee, I make my own morning blend. One package (12 oz) of breakfast blend plus a little package of HEB San Antonio (1.75oz); makes a slightly cinnamony flavor.
5Well, anything of HEB’s. My favorite being Swiss Almond Chocolate. I also like Seville Chocolate Orange by Whitehouse coffee;
6I used to run a free coffee shop in the campgrounds of bluegrass festivals. (Meadow Park Coffee Cooperative on FB)I got all my coffee from Third Coast Coffee in Austin. It is organic, fair trade, and fresh. Kerby Lane coffee come from there, and they have a wonderful espresso blend (Tres Costas Espresso). They have something for all coffee lovers. And they ship to my front door. Or Yours.
7I personally think they shut it down to avoid chatter about the whistleblower and do a little “clean-up” before anyone can get screenshots.
8Please don’t get another Keurig machine. Those pods are so very bad for the environment.
9I wondered what was up, but I figured fB was broken somehow.
As for coffee, my spousal unit (who speaketh not until after his first POT of coffee) swears by his Technivorm Moccamaster drip coffee pot and Peet’s Sumatran coffee beans – freshly ground every morning. I have to agree – Sumatran is the only coffee that doesn’t give me heartburn.
10The HiBid auction platform was also down for a day or two.
Born and raised in Seattle, haven’t had enough coffee in my life (75 years) to fill a thermos.
111] Coffee.
I REALLY, REALLY recommend the AeroPress coffee maker.
https://aeropress.com/use-it-now/
Positives:
Makes a great cuppa
Costs $29.95
Multiple=use filters. I use them 15 – 20 times between changes
Easy clean
Negatives:
Too much plastic — the funnel and stir-stick are unnecessary but you can’t order without them.
Making a single cup is easy, making multiple cups is complicated.
2] Facebook.
12Was it hacked? Went down about noon.
Poor babies — I hope it hits them hard.
It’s time they stop making excuses and understand that, if democracy goes away, they’ll get bit just like the rest of us.
Facebook AND Keurig down?
It’s the apocalypse.
13Get the Too Strong coffee from TYT.com it’s pretty good.
14Or, just go with cowboy coffee, works every time and nothing to toss out except the can when it’s empty.
15Two rows is 100% correct on the aero- press. Good cuppa even if mediocre beans. Got one in the kitchen and one in the camping gear.
16Facebook, I don’t know. But if my coffee tastes a bit thin, I spoon a 1/4 teaspoon of Medaglia d’Oro instant espresso into my cup for a rich coffee punch.
17I think the entire world would be better off if FB didn’t exist.
18So glad to know it’s not just me having issues with Facebook! I thought my Wi-Fi was acting up or Spectrum was acting up … Or, not acting at all!
19Martha – there are reusable k cups. I don’t use the throw away pods. I’m a Democrat.
20Twitter message should have read…
Hello literally everyone.
Except Donald Trump
The reusable K cups are great.
21I have a separate one for tea
I like Lavazza coffee
Peets Aged Sumatran coffee is my morning go-to.
I use an old thermal carafe drip machine – except for special occasions when I get out the Belgian Royal Coffee Maker. It’s a siphon coffee maker with an oddly complex steampunk-type heating system. Great for Sunday Morning brunches.
22If you like dark roast:
Peet’s Major Dickenson’s Blend.
23I can’t “do” coffee. The hubs faithfully grinds Mayorga organic free trade organic dark roast beans every morning.
24Deb T’s advice on Facebook maintenance is DEEPLY satisfying.
25And all the coffee ideas sound great.
Cafe du monde is the best coffee I’ve ever had.
In the French Quarter.
I’ve never been able to replicate it, even with their coffee that I bought there.
But as mundane as it may sound, I don’t think I’ll find anything that’ll replace Dunkin medium original roast.
It took me by surprise, but I’m a believer.
Stumptown coffee, made with a French press.

27For those living in the Community coffee distribution regions might I suggest: Take 1 bag of Breakfast blend (blue label, med roast), mix in another bag of Coffee and Chicory (yellow label, dark roast), blend well. Use as normal. Yes, I know this is store-bought, but it is Community coffee from New Orleans. Deep, rich flavor with subtle, distinct aftertaste. I’ve spent years mixing and matching many brands and varieties so save yourself some time and money. I usually stock up during BOGO’s. You’re welcome.
28My Facebook account was hacked in early August. I haven’t been able to prove my identity sufficiently to them to be allowed back on, so there was a bit of schadenfreude on my part yesterday. I don’t intend to create another account. After a bit of withdrawal symptoms, I don’t really miss it much. It was a time suck, for sure.
My favorite Keurig coffee is The Original Donut House’s Coconut Mocha. I went to that when Wolfgang Puck’s “Jamaican Me Crazy” became hard to get. And yes, the pods are recyclable.
29That should have been donut “shop”, not house. Mea culpa.
30If you like the convenience of Keurig, get an “open source” model that uses refillable pods and small paper filters. We fill ours with coffee from Heine Brother’s, the local coffee shop on the corner.
31Baltimore Coffee and Tea Company. Expensive, but soooo good. So many flavors you can’t believe they actually taste like that, but they do.
