Start at about 3:15.  He wants to ban assault weapons and close the loophole in the background checks.

Now. He wants to do it now. Thanks, Joe.

  1. What a refreshingly logical response!

It’s just so obvious that this should be done. It shouldn’t take the President, with everything else going on, to remind Senators. I can say in advance that I’m sure Cruz/Cornyn will have a pocketful of excuses to not support this, but it maybe we could squeak it by.

About Damn Time a President demanded this. If they won’t do their jobs, he should do it for them.

Joe Biden said the right thing (Obama pushed for the same more than once). No surprise that crooze and cornyn will bellow out the same right wing nra talking points. It’s also not a surprise that fake democrat joe manchin has already come out against any congressional action on common sense gun control. So, no, nothing will happen again. Anything to get re-elected in a red state. Democrats should forget him and concentrate on flipping for an actual senator whose vote can count.

Assault weapons and the ammo used to load them up absolutely need to be outlawed in this country. Forever. Cruz is already screeching about 2nd Amendment rights. I say the citizens’ right to go about their business, shop, go to the movies, go to school, to go the park, and not worry about being mowed down by a lunatic with an assault weapon takes precedence over people’s being able to purchase and use them. They can have their hunting rifles, their shotguns, their handguns. Nobody except the military in battle needs an assault weapon. And the fact that a judge ordered Boulder to overturn its assault weapon ban days before this massacre and the NRA was hopping up and down with glee … well …

Sadly, however, I do not believe the Congress critters have the spine to support any such nationwide ban. The fact that we still have assault weapons for sale after one was used to kill kindergartners and first graders tells you all you need to know about this country.
