Best News All Week
This right here is the best news I’ve heard in a long time. Speaker Pelosi has appointed Retired General Russell Honore to review Capitol security.
General Honore is my favorite grumpy ole bastard who gets stuff done. Do not cross him or the country he loves.
I was kinda hoping they’d appoint him to handle logistics for getting out the vaccine, but he can probably do that in his spare time.
If you listen to episode #5 of the Atlantic’s 2020 podcast “Floodlines” (about Hurricane Katrina) Gen. Honore is the guy who came in, restored order and got things moving in New Orleans in the aftermath. He’s a hero and a(nother) terrific selection by Biden.
1The best people?
2Yes!
Take no excuses, take no prisoners style of leadership!
Anyone who say “give it a federal stock number and no one will get it” will soon be in the unemployment line, or prison.
Ms. JJ, the General can probably suggest someone to command a vaccine task force. He or she will succeed or else …
3Gen Honore is one of the few positive aspects of Katrina…
He reminds me of my Dad, a Navy SuperChief who ran the big Naval Air Station near Key West during the Cuban Missile crisis.
Absolute honor and integrity. Feared. respected. admired.
4Now the bad news. Today there was a screaming fit attempt to get an unconfirmed trump appointee onto the campus of a top secret installation, although he does not have security clearance.
I cannot tell you how I know this but it is ironclad.
So far, he is still outside.
5At least the Capitol workers may have a little more security; now how about some here? I’m afraid the Biden folk are going to be playing whack-a-mole for some time!
6How bad can the Trumpf administration be on their last Friday in charge? Well, the acting secretary of defense says he can’t wait to leave his post while praising Russia in the same interview. Then, just a few days after the Trumpf administration said they were going to open up the national stockpile of vaccines and recommend those over 65 get moved up to the group now being vaccinated, turns out there’s no such stockpile. So, yes, let’s also make General Honore in charge of vaccines and in his spare time, handle the department of defense, Homeland Security, and hell, be the president for 5 days.
7I’ve been hoping he’d get a post, and this makes me happy.
8He is an awesome choice! Just a reminder, the United States Constitution “no Person shall be a Senator or Representative in Congress” who “shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against” the Constitution, “or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof.”
9No wanna-be Robert E. Lee’s need apply.
