True Story
Several months ago, once all y’all so generously helped pay to get ballot by mail for the small counties you adopted, I stopped begging money from you for other small projects we’ve done before because I didn’t think Texas had a big bear’s butt chance of flipping blue or kicking out a senator. I wanted you to send your money to someplace it would do some good and it appeared to me that Texas wasn’t that place.
Now I’m not so sure.
First, Cornyn won’t debate and he’s doing everything he can to make nincompoop out of himself. Little one today. He retweeted this photo of senate Democrats huddling with the caption, “What’s missing here?”
His answer: “The masks.” Duh, this was taken during the Kavanaugh hearing, long before there was a virus. Cute, huh? Texans are just shaking their head at Cornyn. One Republican acquaintance who is voting for Biden explained to me that she was also going to dump Cornyn. “Without Trump in the White House, Texas will get nothing. Better we have a friend of Biden in there.” I approve of that thinking.
The other is that it wasn’t just Harris County who hit the voter jackpot yesterday. Over over one million Texans voted on the first day of early voting. The big Texas places that are Blazing Blue – Houston, Dallas, San Antonio, and El Paso all broke records. The only large county missing? Tarrant, home of Fort Worth, where it’s still red.
So, I’m starting to have doubt about Texas flipping this year. We might do it.

Glen wants me to tell you that he knew we were headed in the right direction all along. He claims he sees more polling data than just about anybody in Texas. He and I have a zoom meeting set up for election night so he can say, “I told you so.”

Georgia has just squeaked into the Biden column, and Texas is only +3% for Trump, and dropping. That’s the statistical margin of error:

I so hope that Glenn is right. It is like an oasis across the desert floor that we get closer to each day. I so hope it is not a mirage.
3You can expect cornyn’s maskless picture to be on tomorrow’s front page of the NY Post. Wouldn’t surprise me if Trumpf or dumber jr retweet it.
4Gosh, cornyn and cruz really distinguished themselves for Texas in the senate this week, and not in a good way.

All I know is they seem to have a well-targeted GOTV effort, and have a sense of humor. I’ve sent them money, and only wish I could help them with boots on the ground (actually with old man Rockports on the ground).

6Pssst! Cornyn may have posted a picture of Democratic senators huddling in 2018 and criticized them for not wearing masks but it’s easy as hell to answer it. Just post a pick of Mike Lee not wearing a mask in a hearing that happened THIS WEEK.

7My husband and I showed up early and voted on the first day of early voting. Afterward I had a little something I wanted to tell John Cornyn. I’ll share it with you. John Cornyn has had nothing to say to me.
“I voted today. I would not have lived to vote today without the Affordable Care Act. I had endometrial cancer and no health insurance (could not afford it). It wouldn’t have mattered if I could have afforded it because I had previously had a small patch of basil cell carcinoma on my face, so any other type of cancer would have been considered “pre – existing”.
You voted for my death. You voted for the death of many Americans because of your ideology.
Your lack of compassion for others seems to be a hallmark of the Republican party because you are not alone in your efforts to end the Affordable Care Act. I lived in spite of your best efforts to end my life.
I voted today. I voted to replace you and I’ll continue to do so. And the really great thing is that I am not alone. I’m also the mother of four children who are married and my husband is still with us. You may see where this is heading. They also are all voting to replace you (or others like you). I’m a mother, a wife, a friend and I influence others. I will continue to use my influence to help others and warn them of the dangers of giving power to people like you who do not understand or perhaps care about the fiduciary responsibility that comes with the position entrusted to you.”

In my childhood which was spent shuttling between the U.S. and Canada I heard something that I only heard in Canada:
Duty of Care. Its a big deal in places that were spinoffs of Great Britain. I just don’t hear it in this country. Its every human for him/herself no matter how disadvantaged they are. It is a complete rebuke of the story of the Good Samaritan, and if you are in that rebuking mindset, you ain’t a Xtian!
