Look For The Union Label!
The SEIU [Service Employees International Union] located 39 million N-95 masks and is immediately sending them out to hospitals.
The supplier has already sold some of the masks to the state of California, the Greater New York Hospital Association, Dignity Health, Kaiser Permanente, Stanford Health Care, Sutter Health and Los Angeles, Riverside and Santa Clara counties.
I need to scamper around and find my UNION YES! tee-shirt to wear when I sit on the front porch.
This right here is exactly why we need to national task force to run this stuff. Maybe if they had higher IQ’s we could unionize the cabinet. But what ya gonna do? Hell, Ben Carson can’t find his shoes most mornings, much less 39 million much needed masks.
My local hospital just asked those of us who could make masks for non patient areas of the hospital.
The county south of us asked that people not come to their vacation homes as the county has no test kits and they are afraid the extra people will swamp limited resources.
You can only get tested at the hospitals.
I am making masks this evening.

6I only got to go to college because of a scholarship from the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers. Well, that and a president of the local who came to me one day and said “we’ve been paying $5 per member per year into the fund, and you are going to apply for it”. My arguments about why a 28-year old crane operator could not compete with the 18-year old kids of union members were brushed aside (thanks, Sid!).
Funny thing: I’ve been using my 45 year old rubber dust mask from that job for grocery shopping and going out when necessary. First time I’ve used it since going to college.
7In ’78 I had some issues with our young union (first member to get pregnant) but now retired on the pension they negotiated. First think I did after retiring was to sign up for the retirees’ union.
