So Here’s Why People Are Panicking A Little
Okay, first off, Trump ordered federal health officials to go dark and to hold all their meetings as classified. Reuters says this is “an unusual step that has restricted information and hampered the U.S. government’s response to the contagion, according to four Trump administration officials”
Hell, he already stopped press conferences so only he can speak to the public. Now he’s cutting us off from the experts who can tell us what they know using information they didn’t genetically inherit from their uncle.
And then to show why we need that information, it was discovered today that Congressvarmint Matt Gaetz and Mark Meadows, the latest in a long line of not-the-best-people Chief of Staff, got tested for the Coronavirus when other people were told the test weren’t available.
The two lawmakers also said they were exhibiting no symptoms of respiratory illness, raising questions of why they were tested at all.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends that health-care providers prioritize tests for hospitalized patients who are exhibiting coronavirus symptoms, elderly and medically fragile individuals, along with others who have shown signs of illness after contact with a known or suspected coronavirus patient.
Yeah, and Gaetz was the one making fun of the virus by wearing a gas mask to congress. Rumor has it that he took the test from his 75 year old grandmother with a hacking cough and a fever. ‘Cuz he’s just that kind of guy.
I suspect they got tested because they were both exposed at CPAC. They have both self quarantined and that’s exactly what they (and everybody else at the conference) should have done. It would be better if it also shut both of them up; but, with the Intertoobz, that’s not gonna be possible.
1As soon as there is any good news to be reported about COVID-19, Donnie* is the last person who should be told. If he* were to blab about it, no one would believe him*. Nor would anyone from this maladministration be believable. Good news to be believed will require a guest spokesperson; maybe Zeke Emanuel, a real bioethicist or Surgeon General of the United States Army, Lt Gen R. Scott Dingle, although IQ4.5* has seriously undermined the credibility of the military.
While Matt Gaetz should qualify as a contestant in the FL Special Olympics that would not be fair to the other contestants who have not practiced tipping over wheel chairs or stomping up another racer’s back to get ahead, unlike Me First Matt.
2The priority testing is a feature, not a bug, for supporting BLOATUS.
He’s as openly corrupt as a POTUS has ever been because Mitch and Koch are propping him up from one side, and Faux Corp on the other.
That’s why I call him Boss Tweet…
3And Houston’s mayor has declared a state of medical emergency. Taking steps including shutting down the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo 11 days early.
4But apparently a person confirmed positive for covid 19 attended it February 28th.
You left out the fun fact that MG said he spent the night in a Walmart parking lot.
The Covid-19 guy was thought to have been at the bbq cookoff on 2/28 per mayor and county judge.
Houston/Harris County shutting down/cancelling/rescheduling all public sponsored large events/gatherings for March and will reevaluate thereafter.
5OT – A modicum of justice in the corrupt empire. Burn in hell, ya pig.
Harvey Weinstein sentenced to 23 years in prison
Disgraced film producer Harvey Weinstein has been sentenced to 23 years in prison by a New York judge after being convicted of one count of third-degree rape and one count of committing a criminal sex act.
Under sentencing guidelines, the once powerful Hollywood mogul could have received as many 29 years in prison and as few as five

I would like to know who the Einstein was who turned down the World Health’s offer to supply testing kits one week after this virus’ existence became known. Lots of idiots to blame: Pompeo, Esper, Adams or the Liar-in-
7Chief.
Just so you all know I survived my weekly trip to HEB. I have never seen so many people there and they were buying toilet paper, Clorox and water. Have they never had any of that in their home before? It was freaky crazy and I’m not looking forward to next week. Reminder to all, wash your hands and mind your business!
8Sure, Comrade Dr. Donnei and his minions in the regime are mishandling this coronavirus thing about as badly as possible.
But we all may be over-reacting.
Yes, COVID-19’s a serious disease, quite communicable, and with a relatively high mortality rate.
But, it is not ‘the flu’, or Ebola. So far, many less have contracted it, but it is about seven times more deadly than influenza [flu mortality rate ~0.5%, COVID-19 ~3.5%].
If millions catch it, deaths -will be much higher- than any of us have ever seen before.
Accept this potentiality, a general panic and collapse will do far more damage..
But this level of panic, and closing schools, workplaces, cancelling events, heading for an almost total economic shutdown or collapse, makes no sense at all.
We need to take some reasonable precautions, do everything possible medically, then be prepared to accept a certain number of casualties from this viral pandemic.
It’s coming and will get serious no matter what we do, there’s no point in exacerbating it.

9San Antonio’s JBSA-Lackland is receiving 3-500 incoming cruise ship quarantinees from the SF ship, I expect more shortly from that Caribbean ship. Mayor Nirenberg is ticked and watching the Feds like a hawk, but can do little.
Whether any of those people become ill, or pass it into the local population remains to be seen; but the general risk level is enhanced [whatever can go wrong usually does, especially with the GrOPer regime in charge].
NCAA cancelled spectators for the March Madness basketball games. What we’re not hearing from the CDC or any reliable sources is when containment will be achieved and once contained how long before the health threat is eliminated. Heckuva a job Donnie* expecting this to end like a ‘normal’ flu season, thus waiting weeks before doing virtually nothing.
10When Larry Kudlow says “buy”, it’s time to short the market.
11Grandma Ada and the other [hair] Salon denizens, a ‘cleaning’ tip that I’ve used for many years:
Most of y’all probably use those pump hand soap dispensers now, few still using bar soap for handwashing, right? [I have some Lava bars handy for when doing mechanical stuff]
I just did a shopping cycle of ‘HEB-Walmart-Target-HomeDepot’, so I’m set for a while.
A few years ago the liquid soaps in them [and refill jugs] were mostly ‘depowered’ by having their active antibiotic ingredients removed [required by the Feds, ostensibly to reduce antibiotic resistance in ‘the bugs’], grrreaatt.
Well, long before that, I had already developed my own supercharging liquid hand soap enhancement, which just might help out.
12I add/mix about –15-20% shampoo– to the liquid hand soap of choice in the dispensers. Shampoo [most] is designed to be a highly effective antiseptic/bug-killer [hair is quickly quite dirty], with potent antibio/septic ingredients [just read the ingredient list].
I prefer the fairly cheap ‘Suave Ocean Breeze’ bottled stuff for it’s nice smell and plain cleaning ability.
Try it, you can probably still find shampoo in the stores…
And don’t forget ‘Simple Green’ concentrate, the best all-round cleaner for anything, I’ve even used it as a mouthwash in a ‘must do’ scenario [afloat], no bad effects beyond latent insanity ;] … [HomeDepot has some huge containers of it].
RepubAnon @11, ‘Zactly. Kudlow and Kristol, the two worst predictitaters ever, always 100% rrrong.
I used to work shorts sometimes, fun stuff to predictably scalp mostly Rethugs blindly following their masters, once upon a time. But since tRump came in I’ve just about left equities [except 9-1000 shares in 3 stocks that pay good dividends and had been stable]. Just anticipating the inevitable total meltdown now.
DJIA was down ‘only’ -1464.94 −5.86% today. Crude WTI off 3.61%, major oil crash in progress, along with many other commodities.

14Let’s give Ronald Reagan some credit here for being a clairvoyant. Although it took some time, his quip of the nine most terrifying words in the English language being “I’m from the government, and I’m here to help” do ring true now.
15But this level of panic, and closing schools, workplaces, cancelling events, heading for an almost total economic shutdown or collapse, makes no sense at all.
You are wrong.

Slipstream: that’s 43 states + D.C. At this point, maybe it’s better (or at least shorter) to list the ones that DON’T yet have COVID-19 cases.
As for the secret agent stuff, everyone know that we can’t let the viruses find out we’re onto them. Then they might put on wigs and Groucho Marx glasses and sneak past our valiant defender Mike Pence. Think in terms of Elmer Fudd shushing a disguised Bugs Bunny, saying “Be vewy quiet, I’m hunting a wabbit”.
17drumpf refuses to declare a state of emergency because that would clash with his own diagnosis that c-virus is exactly like the flu, not much more dangerous.
18Norwegian Cruise Lines is telling people the virus prefers the cold, so now is a great time to cruise the Caribbean. I get that they’re in financial trouble through no fault of their own, but coaxing people onto these floating petri dishes is unconscionable.
