Is It Just Me?
I was pretty pumped-up for the debate last night. The Astros had just won, my tummy was filled with some scrumptious pad thai, a cool front was coming in, and I was having a good hair day.
I was disappointed in the debate. To me, they all seemed tired, flat, and a little snippy at each other. Maybe there’s been too many debates with too many people. Maybe the debates last too long. Maybe we need better questions than Was Ellen Right?
Many of my friends didn’t see it the same way I did. They thought it was great, but none of them changed their minds about who they were supporting. I have several favorite candidates and until June of next year to make up my mind. I like to keep my options open.
If you saw it differently than I did, that’s fine. In fact, I hope you did. I hope our candidates get some yippie in their step and some pure raw determination to make America great period.
JMO, but I think it’s time to hear a debate between the top three candidates, instead of holding a Democratic beauty pageant.
The rest need to go home and help get the BLUE vote out.
1This is going to sound harsh, but Honestly, I can’t watch them. Too many dog and pony shows, too many people, half of whom should be gone by now, if they ever had any business being there in the first place. There are several with much less cred (and much more ego) than those who’ve already dropped out. And a format that’s set up more for entertainment and drama than giving voters what they need. Waste of time. I have enough drama in my life. For baseball fans, why ruin a good buzz? Go Stros!!!!!
2I didn’t even watch, once I heard they were to give answers no longer than 75 seconds. I want to hear longer and more complex answers from the front-runners – you know, the ones that actually have a chance. The also-rans are there for the attention and just clog up the process. There are at least 6 of those.
3I am not sure if they were flat or if I am just ready to move on. Pick a candidate and let’s go. Any of them. I no longer care. I just want Trump out of there.
4Couldn’t watch it. I’m terrified the Dems are going to mess the entire election up and give Trump 4 more years.
5I didn’t watch either. Part of it is that CNN tries to make it a circular firing squad and second, I’m just tired of it all. Tired of Trump, Pence, Pompeo, Mulvaney . . . . We have 390 something days until November 3rd – I hope I can make it!

I haven’t picked a favorite, I’ll vote for anyone over the Cheeto in Chief but I’d MUCH rather hear substantive policy discussions as opposed to 75 second sound bites but the DCC and the need for TV seem intent on forcing us down this path.
Interesting however, that Tulsi Gabbard blamed everyone except Assad for the loss of life in Syria.
I’m past ready to move on.
7What Cheryl said. I refuse to watch when the debaters (I very nearly wrote “contestants”) have a whole 75 seconds to answer questions. I’ll be back, probably, when the herd is thinned to 3 or 4. Any debate with 12 people should be held over at least two nights, with 6 people on stage, at most. I’d prefer 4.

As far as this Dem debate, have to rely on other’s interpretation of it. It was effectively inaccessible to me, CNN is cable/sat only, and with limited streaming not going to waste my constrained data/bandwidth.

I didn’t watch either. Couldn’t stand to hear such a collection of misfits rattle on about their personal pet issues. MAGA won the election in 2016. How about Make America Rational Again? At this point the Dems’ best chance is for the Repubs to dump Trump and get a a qualified, more moderate, Republican elected.
10Guess I’m in excellent company. I am tired of them and didn’t watch either. Just give me a solid candidate to vote for. That’s all I ask. Hell, all the candidate has to be is Not Trump.
11DH and I still have no clue which one to vote for, so we watched for a while. We turned it off and watched A Touch of Frost on BritBox.
I will vote for whichever one the party nominates, but not any of them could beat Trump.
It will be up to the party to win this election, not the candidate.
IMO, the dems have no clue how dirty this race will be. Between the slime ball Trump and Roger Stone, there will be no limit to the meaness and dirty tricks. The Democrats are just too naive.

I watched it all though, and was actually terrified how weak Biden was, in every sense. It sounds mean but one would think that he had heart attack 2 weeks ago, not Bernie.
I watched half, with sinking heart. I no longer care for Mayor Pete, after his snarky appearance last night. Bernie’s too sick, Biden’s become a joke with his half-assed answers.
14It’s an entertainment show and is doing no one any favors.
My husband’s hospital roommate has Fox on 24/7, so I have to listen to their lies and their laughter. The roommate is the classic Fox viewer — he just soaks it in and doesn’t question a thing they say.
I am happy. I am usually a down dem, but today I am happy. The debate was just so so. Not surprised because all of the debates have been so so. Too many people on stage at one time, too little thought into the questions, not enough time to thoroughly answer the questions asked.
15Yet, I am pleased. We have a really great slate of people running for the Presidency. They have remained true to their values, they have recognized the devastation they will face if elected, they recognize that they will be President of the entire country – Deep Blue, white nationalists, Red Faced Republicans, Ind., etc. We aren’t an easy nation to govern, but these people are not looking for easy they are looking for change and making a difference in good ways for we the people.
I’ve chosen my candidate (Go Elizabeth!), but there are several that would get my whole hearted support if Elizabeth isn’t chosen. The ones that I would not dance for I would still support. They are sane. They are competent. They are not evil. Not a pussy grabber among the men and none of the women seem to be obsessed with the dangly parts of males.
Look up the websites. Check out the facts. See if what is written and said equals what is done. Choose. Vote. Get other people to choose and vote.
Orange Hitler is not going to vacate the stage because we don’t like him. We need a solid winner who won’t be afraid to use a hook to remove Trump from his pulpit.

In 2007, it was written in stone that Hillary Clinton would be the 2008 Democratic Presidential candidate. The weird thing about Iowa is that if enough people get motivated to change the expected outcome of the caucus, they can do it. With only 700, 000 registered Dems, getting a mere 70,000 more people to caucus can change the tide. We don’t just show up and vote. Since it is “organized” by Democrats, it”s pretty much a 5 hour shite-show. We who caucus are committed, so if 10,000 of us work together and each bring 7 folks along, it’s a done deal.
16The bad part is this year, though I could support any of them except Steyer and Yang, I’ve been wavering between Warren and Buttigieg. Take out xmas, Thanksgiving, etc. and the caucus is only 2 months away. If I want to make my own participation really count, I need to make up my mind and get to work. I dont have until June.
I’m with Terri. It’s a pleasure to listen to politicians argue about policy, about programs, about FACTS, about research, about people of all skin colors, LBTG, income levels, citizenship status, etc. This is how it’s supposed to be.
Biden does not have it. He, Bernie, Gabbard, O’Rourke, Yang, Steyer and Castro can all go home and run for statewide offices. Remember redistricting!
My Senator Klobuchar is more centrist than I like, but she may be a good option for just that reason. I like Warren best, but I’d be satisfied with any of the others too. I’ll definitely vote for any Democrat without fail and I’ll drag as many other people to the polls to vote as I can.
17NPR carried it for those (like me) who don’t have cable, etc. So far Mayor Pete is my choice but I do fear that in a general election, homophobia would affect votes, maybe even among some Dems. Was always a Joe fan but I’m afraid he has lost some of his shine. I also like Amy but she doesn’t seem to garner much enthusiasm. They all have flaws but, omg, they’re nothing compared to 45’s. Whoever gets the nod I will vote for. As for a dirty election, there is no bottom for 45 and crew.
