Hearing Day

July 24, 2019 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

Okay, so you know where I’ll be today.  I will be sitting in front of the teevee this morning wondering which Republican can be the most outrageous.  Remember: the House Judiciary committee has Louie Golmert, Jim Jordan, and Matt Gaetz so it’s going to be  close race.

And then this afternoon, I will see the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence Hearing.  That will star Devin Nunes.

Please feel free to comment – I’ll check at least hourly to approve comments and will make a few of my own.

  1. You better get your cooler of Shiner Bock ready. You will especially need it when Gomer gets the floor.

    1
  2. G & T’s.. purely medicinal for the leg cramps, you know & watching Trump get, well you know, a BIGLY dose of whup ass.

    2
  3. I think Tequila is the answer. It’s going to be very, very painful.

Moe, Larry, Curly, Shemp>Louie Golmert, Jim Jordan, Matt Gaetz,Devin Nunes. The confederacy of dunces assembled here is what is the most outrageous-but then again, more of the same from the repugnantcans.

  5. Sandino says:

Just heard a Republican say “Democrats and Socialists.” I wish someone would say “Republicans and Fascists.” You know they must have a weak argument when they take to name calling.

    5
  6. How about that Collins fellow? Pontificating about his discovered truth of the rules of whatever. Reminds me of earnest high school debaters arguing the solution to everything.

    6
  7. Sandino perfecto.
Republicans and Fascisti it is, with a dose of conservative and reactionary for flavoring.

  8. BarbinDC says:

The Rethugs are really grasping at straws. They got nuttin’. And, Looey the Doofus’ reputation remains intact.

    8
  9. I just watched Louie Gohmert ‘questioning’ Mueller. His eyes were literally bulging. Louie graduated from Texas A&M, as did I. If guilt by association were a real thing, his ‘questions’ would make me guilty of idiocy and moronitude.

    9
  10. Jane & PKM says:

Will Devin Nunes’ cow be making an appearance?

    10
  11. Mueller is everywhere on all the channels. Good!!! As for Loopy Louie, I watched that segment from yesteryer where he was questioning Mueller and yeah, his eyes were bulging. He does that very well. The rest of the stuff he’s a dud!

    11
  12. Juanita Jean Herownself says:

The “article” Louie just entered into evidence “Robert Mueller: Unmasked” was written by … Louie Gohmert.

    12
  13. Marcia in CO says:

Yup, the Repukes are being their usual, assholey selves! SMH

    13
  14. megasoid says:

Question: Simply attempting to obstruct justice can also be a crime?

    Answer: Yes

    14
  15. Will say that I was underwhelmed overall on all questioning. Dems should have brought in Katie Porter. That woman gets it done.

    15
  16. BarbinDC says:

Would some kind soul please go to the Goodwill store and buy that poor Jim Jordan a jacket? Apparently, he doesn’t own a single one and he is always underdressed.

    16
  17. Schiff doing a better job.

    17
  18. Closet Optimist says:

Actually, the fact that Mueller affirmed this TWICE, is the biggest deal of the morning:

Lieu: I’d like to ask you the reason, again, that you did not indict Donald Trump is because of (Office of Legal Counsel) opinion stating that you cannot indict a sitting president, correct?

    Mueller: That is correct.

    18
  19. Juanita Jean Herownself says:

He thinks it makes him look like a working, fighting man. It does not. It makes him look disrespectful and a damn fool.

    19
  20. The one who uttered “Democrats and socialists” is another bright shining star to embarrass us here in Texas. District 4 – Dallas area. Guess he is a Goober clone.

    20
  21. Very nice. Hearing made clear that trump not exonerated, Russians did significantly interfere, trump not charged due to OLC memo, trump attempted to obstruct justice.
Now let’s see what Schaffer’s et al. can get.

    21
  22. maryelle says:

Mueller seems tired, confused and nervous.
He couldn’t remember the word conspiracy, when objecting to the word collusion. I fear all the stress maybe getting to him.

    22
  23. Wow, the last two D Reps, Sean Maloney and Val Deming, are using some brilliant and effective tactics to get Mr. Mueller to stick his head out of his shell. They coaxed him into coughing up some interesting things to look at.

    23
  24. Who votes Louie into office/what part of TX?

    24
  25. megasoid says:

Schiff’s closing remarks framed the hearings in somber, powerful language.

    25
  26. @BarbinDC #16
He is just trying to emulate his hero juan Peron hoping to find his Evita (Madonna)
Right wing “populist” who gutted country for personal profit.

    26
  27. Fran seyer @22,
Not that you needed to ask, but it’s one of the most bible-thumping backward bigoted areas in all of TX, East Texas on the Louisiana border. With a relatively low educational and income level, no major cities, just a few medium ones and lots of small towns. I’ve worked on the fringe of it [~20 yrs ago], it was like stepping back into 1860, rednecks and a deeply ingrained ‘plantation mentality’ with the Anglos, a wariness with the blacks; and a constant tension in the air. Like with one of my kids who was stationed at a SC military base and couldn’t wait to get away from that ‘Deep South’ mindset [white and black]. Young, she hadn’t ever experienced such stuff; and her HS history must have glossed over most of that, [of course here in S TX with 50-95% Hispanics and almost no blacks it’s a bit different].
    .
What struck me about Loopy Louie’s five minute rant was how you could just see and feel the seething hatred in the SOB, while he was projecting that onto his much-hated ‘libruls’.
If you watched his skeevy face and body language that bastard looked like he was going to implode.
I keep telling y’all that these people hate you, they want you exterminated. You had better be ready in early 2021 if the Democrats manage to run a blue tsunami across the country, it’s going to get ugly.

  28. Finally woke up.
I think part of the reason thet the thugs are averse to improving security on voting is because of
    1) It would interupt the thuglicans ongoing hack of voting systems they have been using since they installed the “ROB Georgia” software patch illegaly the weekend before election day and the “red shift” (voting results in close races consistently move approx. 5% from -2.5% to +2.5% towards thuglicans between last public poll and voting results) that has consistently occured in close elections since the theft of the senate seat from Max Cleland. That ongoing access to voting software is part of how the thuglicans seized power and have kept it.
    2) There is the potential that the detail of this access could be revealed and show how ongoing thuglican criminality opened the door to other players accessing systems.
Problem with “back doors” in software is that the knowledge of their existence and use of them can be used by any one who learns to access them.
Remember famous Tammany (hall) quote it isn’t who votes that decides elections it is who counts the votes and how.
They are just CYA by not hardening the systems and are fine if other bad actors profit from their criminal activities.

    28
  29. do these folk really want thousands more people to google/read the Steele Dossier? seems they must given how much they harped on it

    29
  30. isn’t it time for Will Hurd to become an Independent?

    30
  31. Of course, there were at least 2 R’s on the committee this morning that really burnt my sox. One was a young man in a suit who really laid into Mueller and came up with “below the law”. I’ve been trying to envision that proposition ever since. This young congress critter was obviously bucking for a shot at a cabinet seat when his tyrant is elected again in 2020. God Forbid!!!

The other was the guy in the white shirt who talked like a tobacco auctioneer. What the hell did he say? Can’t trust him in the least!

Mueller emdured all this like the good soldier he is, bless him.

    31
  32. you probably saw ‘all jackets feel like straightjackets’ jim Jordan

    32
  33. Jane & PKM says:

Really Bob? There’s no doubt about you being a loyal Republicon. Albeit it’s pitiful that you are willing to destroy your reputation/career hiding behind that OLC weak tea. You’re not known to be a stupid individual, so please do tell how after hours with this Congress you can with a straight face expect them to do their damn job and impeach the ***king moron. OK I really get it that you and the Feebs are loathe to indict a sitting president; but what about the rest of the criminals in his family and maladministration? Can’t indict, won’t impeach, how in the name of ____ and your first born can you defend IQ4.5 not being above the law as you sit through these hearings?

    33
  34. As Louie Gohmert veered off the rails, lost track of where he was and what he was doing there, I half expected he would shout “Benghazi! Benghazi! into the proceedings.

    Or at least mention asparagus.

    34
  35. charles phillips says:

    K @28:
    Yeah. All that and more.

    35
  36. Sam in Superior says:

@Fran seyer Gohmert Pyle is from the fine semi-intelligent area of Tyler (the only good thing to ever come from Tyler is Earl Campbell). His pastor at the Southern by damn Baptist Church is one of the nuttier conspiracy theorists about Israel.

    36
  37. Jane & PKM says:

Hey Texas, thanks. Really. No snark intended. Actually change that to thank you Texas Democrats. Representative Veronica Escobar (TX-16) did the best job today of nearly hauling the “I” word out of Mueller’s mouth. Guess it requires a woman to notice when a boy is being coy, and she was having none of it from Mueller. She’s read the report!

    REP. ESCOBAR: Impeachment. Correct?
MUELLER: I’m not going to comment.
REP. ESCOBAR: Okay. That is one of the constitutional processes listed in the report in the footnote in Volume II.

    37
  38. BarbinDC says:

@Jane&PKM (36): Escobar represents Texas’ 16th District, i.e., El Paso. She succeeded Beto while he was running for the Senate. I believe she is the first Latina elected to that seat.

    38
  39. Jane & PKM says:

BarbinDC, lol at the northeasterners who say “as Maine goes, so goes the nation.” Good luck to them selling that meme with Susu Collins tapdancing all over her integrity in 8″ heels. Texas 16? First Beto now this exceptionally astute Latina Representative? She’s a definite contender to knock out Republicon Senators in the near future. There’s been some incredibly brilliant women in TX, but Rep. Escobar may exceed expectations.

    39
  40. K:
We don’t always agree on everything, but I’ve never trusted electronic voting systems. And I haven’t heard of the Rob Georgia patch or any other specic issues, only deeply held but vague suspicions. What reading material would you recommend?

    40
  41. @P.P. #40
Will find specific list later just have a minute now.
Google Max Cleland’s last election is when the ROB Georgia (ROB is an acronym named by Diebolt)
    Google Red shift in elections.
    Further details later.
Time to fire up Green Egg for din din
    Spocko

    41
  42. Thanks to K for info on elections! Since no one read the report, getting Mueller to spell out: Trump NOT exonerated, obstruction is a crime, the Russians DID interfere greatly with 2016 election; live on all channels is adequate. You can lead a horse to water but you can’t make him drink!

    44
  43. panthercityhorn says:

My favorite quote of the day’s events describing the repugnantcan squad comes from Charles Pierce-political reporter for Esquire:
“I mean, when you can line up Louie Gohmert, Padishah Emperor Of The Stupid People, Jim Jordan, and Gaetz, you have firmly set up headquarters in the Land of the Lost.”

    45
  44. panthercityhorn:
Obviously we don’t have a Kwisatz Haderach.
Maybe we can hope for a Gurney Halleck.
Duncan Idaho would be too much to hope for.

    46
  45. And don’t forget, comparing donald-f**king-trump to Vladimir Harkonnen would be a mortal insult to any Harkonnen descendant.

    47
  46. If we are going with sci fi references how about the demented one as the “Mule” from the Foundation series

    48
  47. k:
From what I remember from reading it 35 years ago, that’d be the best I know of. Especially the sterility.
