Just So You Know
Another chemical plant blew up yesterday near Houston. So far, one killed, 2 life flighted, shelter in place called, schools taping around doors and shutting off air circulation.
Yes, tightening the reins of the EPA and OSHA is working so very well.
And in related blowing-up news, the chairman of the North Carolina GOP has been indicted.
The chair of the North Carolina Republican Party, Robin Hayes, has been indicted on charges including wire fraud, bribery and aiding and abetting. Durham businessman and political donor Greg Lindberg, along with two of his associates: John Gray, and John Palermo Jr., were also indicted. Lindberg is the owner of Global Bankers Insurance Group headquartered in Durham, N.C.
Well, at least it wasn’t a sex scandal. I guess we just got lucky and aren’t forced to think about a Republican man having sex.
Completely OT, but here’s a PSA for those of y’all who have certain GPS devices: some will be needing a software/firmware update by 4/6/2019, Saturday, in order to keep working properly [most will continue to function, but with certain glitches]. I’ve got a few GPS’s needing some attention.
I’d assume that your smartphones and stuff will get some updates, probably automatically.
” What is the GPS Week Number Rollover?
The GPS Week Number Rollover (WNRO) occurs every 19 years, with the next rollover taking place on April 6, 2019. Similar to odometers in older cars rolling over from 99,999 miles to 0 miles, the GPS WNRO is the resetting of the GPS calendar back to 0.
When the calendar resets, it can cause a miscommunication between GPS satellites and GPS receiver chips. As a result, some chips in navigation devices will lose the ability to process certain functions.
What does this mean for you? It’s time to check your navigation device. Depending on your device, you may need to update or upgrade. “

I didn’t know about that! Thanks!
Time to get my Garmin out of the glove compartment. I only use it when Waze can’t communicate with the mother ship.
2It is frustrating that maintenance of safety standards might have meant savings of the cost of replacement and clean-up efforts, not to mention the huge potential of damage to the community’s health (and resulting costs), resulting from these disasters.
Again, penny-wise, pound-foolish. Or, too cheap to be successful in business…
3North Carolina GOP providing the best government that can be bribed.
4NCGOP will probably blame their latest misfortunes on lack of a voter ID law.
