Rick Scott is Doing WHAT?
Okay, so Trump picked Rick Scott to be his “point man” on the GOP plan to revise health care. I don’t think “point man” was in any way related to Scott’s head. But, ya never know.
Okay, so here’s my question.
Why would you pick a guy who reset the meter on the largest Medicare fraud in history while he was CEO of Columbia/HCA?
Among many other things, Colombia “billed Medicare, Medicaid, and other federal programs for tests that were not necessary or had not been ordered by physicians. They also attached false diagnosis codes to patient records to increase reimbursement to the hospitals.”
In December 2000, the U.S. Justice Department announced that Columbia/HCA agreed to pay $840 million in criminal fines, civil damages and penalties.
Scott resigned as CEO in July 1997, less than four months after the inquiry became public. Company executives said had Scott remained CEO, the entire chain could have been in jeopardy.
During his 2010 race, the Miami Herald reported that Scott had said he would have immediately stopped his company from committing fraud — if only “somebody told me something was wrong.” But there were such warnings in the company’s annual public reports to stockholders — which Scott had to sign as president and CEO.
Back then Scott stole from the government to let his company save money. Now that the role is reversed, who is he going to steal from to make the government save money? Me. That’s who. Me.
All the best people.
Thanks to Deb T for the heads up.
So now, according to press reports, tRump has postponed consideration of his health care agenda until after the 2020 elections. Maybe someone finally realized that putting foxy Scott in the hen house wasn’t going to result in a making a great health care law. Or that Scott knows only about corrupting health care rather than making it better. Or that Scott just ain’t too bright. Or, more likely, that Republicans just don’t really care about health care.
1“Mr. Scott are you really going to replace ACA coverage?”
“Let me save you the trouble. I take the Fifth, seventy-five times over, if need be.”
2As I challenge all rePUKEians I talk with…show me anything good that the rePUKEians have done since 1965 that has helped the life values of the lower/middle classes!?!?!? I don’t count stealing from us as anything good!
3… if only “somebody told me something was wrong.”
Heads up Rick Scott. There’s something wrong with the guy who chose you to be his point man.
4I predict that the new ‘health’ plan will only cover funerals. They are pricy but way cheaper than a lifetime of medical care.
5No mention that when Columbia/HAC stole from the government, Scotty was actually stealing from we the people, and maybe from himself depending on how much this theft raised his income tax.
Even sadder is the ignorance of the idiots in FL, who complain about the lack or cost of medical care, nursing homes etc. Etc. And elected him governor.
6Apparently another example of “hiring only the best people.” The best at what, he didn’t say at the time, but we’ve figured it out since then.
